Many car owners use their garage as a workshop, gradually filling it with practical devices that make car repair and maintenance easier. Many of them can be made independently using the recommendations presented in this article.

Video of homemade machines and devices for the home workshop

Many accessories for a garage workshop can be made independently; the video below demonstrates some of them.

Garage homemade products are devices that make garage life much easier; in addition, they work no worse than factory machines. By equipping your workshop with such devices, you can independently produce the necessary parts for your car, as well as various crafts for your home or garden.

Video of homemade tools and accessories for the garage

It is difficult to predict in advance what devices may be needed when repairing a car, however, there are some homemade products, some of which are used most often. Some of them can be seen in the video below.

Drawings of homemade devices

Pipe bender for profile pipe

Pipe bender - useful in household a device that allows you to bend a metal or polymer pipe to a certain degree. Bent pipes are often used in the construction of greenhouses and greenhouses, installation of heating and other needs. Using the presented drawing, you can make a manual pipe bender yourself.

Small homemade vise

A vice is a practical device used when performing plumbing work. With its help, it is possible to reliably fix a part requiring metalworking in a certain position.

This device consists of several parts:

  • base plate;
  • 2nd lips – movable and non-movable;
  • lever;
  • chassis screw.

Using a small-sized bench vice, the drawing of which is presented above, it is convenient to carry out sharpening and other processing. small parts.

Wood CNC Router

Having a CNC milling machine in your home workshop allows you to perform a whole range of wood machining work.

Homemade milling machine consists of several units and parts:

  • bed;
  • calipers designed to move cutters;
  • caliper guides;
  • spindle with installed cutter;
  • microcontroller or switching board with microcircuits that provide automation of the machine;
  • electric motor with power supply;
  • drivers responsible for transmitting commands from the controller to the electric motor;
  • a vacuum cleaner for collecting sawdust generated as a result of the operation of the machine.

A DIY CNC milling machine allows you to perform engraving and milling work.

Homemade tools for car repairs

A windshield wiper arm remover is a special tool that facilitates the process of removing wiper arms. You can make it yourself from a piece of reinforcement, a six-channel channel and a ten-bolt. To do this, use a drilling machine to make 14 holes and weld 2 nuts on both sides of the hole and a handle from the reinforcement, screw the bolt into the workpiece and, putting on heat shrink, screw threaded rivet. The tool is ready.

Another version of the device for shooting windshield wiper arms is shown in the photo below.

Another useful homemade device with which you can manually re-align your wheels yourself. Another version of this device can be seen in the photo below.

When carrying out major car repairs, you usually cannot do without a lift. A factory-made device is not cheap, and is not needed very often, so it can easily be replaced with a device made at home.

Homemade machines and devices for the garage

By making devices for mounting and balancing tires, you can carry out this work yourself, significantly saving money on car maintenance. Besides similar devices They will come to the rescue if it is not possible to come to a specialized tire shop.

In your garage workshop you can equip universal machine for tire fitting using scrap materials - metal pipes and the hub.

When performing various crafts for the home, it often becomes necessary to drill a straight hole. This is difficult to accomplish a regular drill, but if you make a stand for a drill, like the one shown in the photo, then it will be much easier to drill without distortions. This design can be made from various materials. For example:

  • made of metal;

  • made of wood.

Using the diagram presented below, you can make your own drilling machine from a drill.

Using a homemade press will allow you to produce products using the pressing method in a garage workshop. A similar device can be made from a hydraulic jack fixed to the top of the frame, which in turn is welded from scrap materials. The pressure in this case is directed downward.

Another version of a homemade press, the design of which involves attaching a jack at the base of the bed. In this case, the pressure process is carried out upward.

Using a homemade press, you can straighten, bend sheets of metal, compress cardboard, and fasten individual elements. The video below demonstrates how to make such a necessary device yourself.

Tool storage devices in the garage

Having order is the key to comfortable use of workspaces in the garage. To ensure this order in the workplace, special organizers are designed to make it convenient to store and easy to find. necessary tools. You can make such devices yourself, using available tools.

Simple and in an accessible way keep hand tool, is a wall organizer made from tin cans attached to a sheet of plywood. Additionally, you can nail several hooks or nails to it to conveniently hang measuring and electrical tools. In the absence of tin cans, PVC pipes of various diameters can be used as holders, cut into pieces and screwed to a sheet of plywood or chipboard.

It’s even easier to make a special device for storing screwdrivers. To do this you need to take wooden block and drill holes in it the right size. Mount the finished holder on the wall. On the same holder you can organize a storage system for chisels and chisels. It is enough to cut out special holes in a wooden blank. In the same way, you can make a holder for power tools by cutting out the corresponding holes in a wooden shelf.

An interesting way to store tools is shown in the photo above. Its principle is based on the use of magnetic tapes attached to metal strips. Using such a system, it is convenient to store drills, keys and other metal tools.

Convenient and practical organizers for storing screws, bolts, nails and other small items can be made with your own hands from transparent plastic cans with lids. To prevent them from taking up space, you should attach them by the cover from below to the shelf. This and other ways to store tools allow you to efficiently use space in the garage and have everything you need at hand.

The video below demonstrates how to set up a simple and convenient tool storage system in your workshop or garage.

Homemade woodworking tools for the home workshop

Homemade milling machine

Homemade milling machines can perform one or more operations. Preference, of course, is given to multifunctional devices that save space in the garage workshop. With their help you can:

Make indentations of a certain shape;

Drill holes

Make grooves;

Process workpieces.

The simplest milling machine can be made on the basis of a drill. To do this, it is fixed to steel profile or in a plywood body, and a rotating clamp is placed opposite it. Parts are processed using special cutters held by hand.

Homemade lathe

DIY creation lathe allows you to make dishes, interior decor and furniture from wooden blanks. Such a device will become an affordable alternative to industrial production and will help realize your creative potential. A homemade lathe can be made from individual components and parts:

  • an electric motor used as an electric drive for the machine;
  • a headstock, which can serve as an electric sharpener;
  • tailstock made from a drill;
  • stop for cutters;
  • transverse guides;
  • a frame made of metal profiles or beams.

The headstock and tailstock of a lathe are the main working elements, between which a wooden workpiece is placed. The rotating movement from the electric motor is transmitted to the workpiece through the front headstock, while the rear one remains static, responsible for holding the workpiece. If you equip a homemade lathe with additional devices - a baluster, a trident, a copier and others, then its functionality will increase significantly.

The video below demonstrates how to make a lathe with your own hands.

Homemade drilling machine

If it is necessary to drill precise holes in metal, plastic or wooden parts, experienced craftsmen recommend using a drilling machine. Unlike a drill, which vibrates strongly during operation, this device provides high-quality results, regardless of the material and thickness of the workpiece. You can make a simple drilling machine yourself by using the same home drill, but installing it in a vertical position on a frame made of furniture board and attaching it to a metal stand. If necessary, such a machine can be equipped with an asynchronous motor.

As a rule, home craftsmen do not stop at making the machines themselves. Very often they work to improve existing equipment.

The video below demonstrates useful devices for a lathe, expanding its functionality.

Homemade metal tools for the home workshop

These do-it-yourself devices for the home workshop are designed to facilitate the metalworking process. They are usually made from scrap materials and tools.

Among the most popular devices are:

  • pipe benders;
  • press;
  • vice;
  • milling, metalworking, turning, drilling and thicknessing machines;
  • devices for drill sharpening, knives and other tools.

With their help, a home craftsman can make practical devices for a summer house, garage, and also equip a comfortable home. Examples of useful machines and devices in the household can be seen in the photo below.

Homemade circular saw

The video demonstrates how to make some useful household devices.

Taking into account the presented recommendations and drawings, any home craftsman will be able to make useful devices for the garage and machines for his workshop, arrange an ergonomic space in it, and realize his creative abilities.

DIY garage accessories: all the most useful things

We will send the material to you by e-mail

D For the rational use of space, communications and do-it-yourself garage accessories from scrap materials are used. It is necessary to involve walls in the process, underground level, place machines indoors, organize normal lighting.

Homemade gadgets for the garage

For comfortable operation of a room intended for car storage, you should adhere to certain recommendations:

  • the tool must be as accessible as possible;
  • storage spaces equipped with shelves/racks are much more convenient;
  • workbenches, inspection pits, homemade machines and do-it-yourself garage accessories expand the capabilities of the car owner;
  • the cellar allows you to save space;
  • The productivity of work and minor repairs depends on the quality of lighting.

Depending on the dimensions of the building, the area occupied by equipment, fixtures, and communications should not be more than 10–20% of the size of the garage floor.

Storage areas, racks, workbenches

In 80% of cases, do-it-yourself garage fixtures are built to store accessories, tools, and vehicle components. It should be taken into account that the most bulky parts of the car are sets of winter/summer tires, depending on the season.

It is more convenient to store wheels on brackets of the following design:

  • two triangular frames from a corner, connected by jumpers from any rolled metal;
  • triangles are attached to the wall, wheels are installed perpendicularly load-bearing structure, slightly falling between the jumpers.

This is the most economical option storing tires in the off-season. The most popular among car enthusiasts are straight and corner workbenches. The lower space is usually filled with shelves or drawers; sharpening machines, vice.

It’s easier to build a wooden workbench yourself, but it has a shorter lifespan than its rolled metal counterpart, which needs to be welded. If in load-bearing walls During construction, corners for shelves were not included; it is easier to make racks from rolled metal or lumber.

Original hanging shelves suitable for storing long items

The design and arrangement of shelving inside each garage is too individual to follow general recommendations.

Inspection pit and cellar

A necessary accessory for a DIY garage is an inspection hole. Moreover, the owner does not have to carry out all the repairs himself. Underground communications can be used in the following cases:

  • inspection of the chassis, steering, and brake systems before a long trip;
  • oil change, which allows you to save money and does not take much time;
  • minor repairs that can be carried out by the owner's qualifications.

It is more convenient to make the entrance to the cellar from a hole, as this will allow you to concrete several steps instead of using an extension ladder.

The main nuances of these designs are:

  • swelling of clay soils is harmful to underground structures;
  • therefore, all elements of the pit and cellar are insulated from the outside with expanded polystyrene;
  • sand or crushed stone is used in the underlying layer before concreting and backfilling of the pit sinuses;
  • Drains are laid along the perimeter of underground structures at the base level to collect and drain water.

The width of the pit should allow the driver to enter it without lighting.

Lighting and ventilation

More often used in garages parallel circuits lighting fixtures. One lamp allows you to use a specific area, several devices turn on during major repairs, visits to the cellar. Minimum consumption electricity is provided LED lamps. Daylighting devices have a greater resource.

Cars use toxic, harmful fuels and lubricants, so do-it-yourself garage ventilation devices that allow you to create air exchange are becoming relevant. The influx is organized from below:

  • garage - vents in the masonry, protected by bars;
  • cellar - pipe from the garage or from the street.

The hood is mounted under the ceiling of the cellar, the roof of the garage, or has the form of vents in the main walls at the highest points.

Ventilation in the garage with your own hands. From this publication you will learn why garage ventilation is so important, what air exchange schemes exist, and installation nuances.

Other useful ideas

Useful accessories for the garage with your own hands can be made from used dishes, equipment, and materials left over from construction. For example, by gluing the lids of plastic cans horizontally/vertically, the owner receives convenient transparent containers for equipment or hardware, which are always at hand.

A garage press is assembled from scrap materials. No complex parts are needed; it is made practically from scrap metal scraps. We will need:

  • Two sections of channel, 80 cm long each, with shelf dimensions of 50x30 cm.
  • A piece of profile pipe with a diameter of 40 or 60 mm, 2.5 meters long.
  • Iron plate 8 mm thick, dimensions 250x250 cm.
  • Two corners, one of which is 300 mm long, with a cross-section of 50x50 mm, the second is 250 mm long, with a cross-section of 25x25 mm.
  • The hydraulic jack is the main mechanism of the press.
  • Two springs and bolts of different diameters for fastening. They are selected locally.

The base on which the press is located can be any plane, as long as it is strong and solid. Usually the press is installed on a workbench.

Homemade press on a workbench

First we make the side racks on which the entire mechanism rests. To do this, we take two sections of channel. From the bottom, for emphasis on each, corners are attached with the letter T. You can immediately make fastening points in them for subsequent installation on the base by drilling holes in four places on each edge. Then, using the same principle, a corner is attached to the upper part of the channel, and the pressing part of the press - a metal plate - is attached to it.

Now on the bottom of the support channels you need to make fastenings for the springs that return the press mechanism back. To do this, two holes are drilled and a bolt is screwed in from the inside. Then, using the same principle, the two upper fasteners are prepared on the underside of the pressure sheet.

Now all that remains is to make a stand for the improvised press. To do this, cut off two profile pipes s, the length of which is slightly longer than the side supports made of channel. Connect them in such a way that they tightly grip the vertical posts of the press, but do not clamp them. A jack is installed under them, and holes are drilled in place for its fastening.

Improvised press on a stand

The homemade press is ready. For smooth movement, the side channel is lubricated with grease or oil. When the need arises to use it, the mechanism is installed on prepared mounts and the frame is tightened with bolts.

It’s easy to build an alarm system in the garage with your own hands; you don’t need any fancy “devices” for this. All that is needed is an old push-button telephone, a sealed contact, a spring switch, or better yet, a breaker and wires.

Do-it-yourself telephone alarm for the garage

The alarm is assembled as follows:

  1. On your phone, you need to set up a one-click call and enter your number.
  2. Then carefully disassemble it to connect the alarm wires.
  3. If the “hang up” and “call” functions on the device are controlled by one key, then the first wire is soldered to it, and the second to the speed dial digit.
  4. If these functions operate separately, then the third wire from the alarm breaker goes to the key.
  5. If the button is used with two contacts, then they are soldered onto the call and dial function button.

Assembling a homemade garage alarm from a telephone

When making such homemade products, keep in mind that the breaker button will play a major role. It must be installed on the edge of the garage door between its opening and closing parts. At the same time, it should be positioned so that rain and snow do not fall on it. And the phone needs to be hidden in an inaccessible place, for example, in the far corner of the rack you built. To do this, you need to solder long wires to the contacts in advance. When closing the garage, the breaker button is pressed by the garage door leaf, and at this time the alarm is in standby mode. When the gate is broken or opened, the contact opens and the circuit signal is sent to the telephone, which will dial the entered number.

Remember that DIY projects like garage alarms require a certain amount of secrecy. You don’t need to tell everyone what a craftsman you are.

It is simply impossible without such structures as racks with shelves. You can put all the little things, spare parts, tools on them and attach a homemade press in disassembled form. To ensure that such homemade products fit into the garage space, first determine the location for their installation. They are usually constructed on one side of a wall or at the end of a room. The width must be calculated so that there is free access to the car and the open doors do not touch the pillars.

To install shelving you will need:

  • block with a cross section of 50x50 mm,
  • sheets of chipboard or OSB for the construction of shelves,
  • iron corners and nails.

The base of the rack must be strong, because the considerable weight of the laid out tools presses on the shelves. Carry out all the calculations in advance and only then start working.

Warp homemade shelving for tool

The block is attached to the ceiling first. To do this you will need self-tapping screws plastic stoppers. Using a hammer drill, holes are drilled along a pre-marked line in increments of 20–30 cm. Plugs are installed in them and the block is attached to them with self-tapping screws. Then the plumb line determines the installation location of the lower bar. Both the top and bottom bars should be on the same horizontal line to keep the shelving level and strong.

Now you need to install the vertical posts. For better stability of a rack with shelves, they need to be fastened every 40–50 cm. They are fixed with nails, which are driven in using the “oblique hammering” method or using iron corners. We measure the distance from the top bar to the bottom and according to the size we prepare the vertical elements of the shelving frame.

Now you need to install horizontal jumpers to support the shelves, but first you need to mark the places for their attachment. For this you will need a tape measure. From the floor, mark the distance to install the first row of shelves on the rack on each vertically installed block. Then measure the distance between each stand. We cut the bars to these sizes. Now they need to be secured. We insert one between the posts and secure it with screws from the end, two on each side. This way we install all the frame elements. Then, from the installed bars, the second row of shelves on the rack is marked with a tape measure. They are installed in the same way.

Installation of frame elements of a homemade rack

Before installation, it would be better to calculate in advance the number of shelves on the racks and assemble the frame according to the drawn-up drawing or diagram.

Having collected outer frame, all that remains is to fix the bars on the wall to install the shelves. On the wall, at the level of each row cross beams on the frame, a line is marked. Then the horizontal position is checked with a building level and the timber is attached along the entire length of the structure according to the markings.

All that remains is to make the shelves for the rack and install them. We measure the distance from the wall to the edge of the frame and from one vertical post to another. We cut the chipboard sheet according to the obtained dimensions, install it in place and, for reliability, fix it on top with self-tapping screws. We do all the shelves in the same way.

Shelves usually don’t have doors; you can hang a dark fabric curtain along the entire length. That's all, the place to store the necessary things is ready. All that remains is to model a homemade workbench and it will be completed in the garage.

It is impossible to make homemade items in the garage without having a workbench at your disposal. First, its support is assembled from corners or a profile pipe. It is better to connect these parts by welding. But if this is not possible, then bolted fastening is allowed. But for this you will have to additionally mark the joints and drill holes. The convenient height of the finished workbench is 90 cm from the floor. This will make it more convenient to carry out work at the workbench. But for some it is better to repair while sitting, in which case the height of the workbench will be different. The dimensions and dimensions for each garage are different. And it’s better to decide on them before assembly.

Having assembled the base, we move on to making the tabletop for the workbench. Recommended thickness is 7–7.5 cm. Can be made from a single sheet of multilayer plywood 100 mm thick. If this is not possible, we will do it differently. Let's glue together a tabletop from several sheets of regular plywood. Standard thickness– 1 cm and in this case 7 pieces will be enough. Having decided in advance on the size of the workbench (its upper part, where the table top will be attached), we saw off the plywood along it. You can use PVA glue for connection, but Moment or BF is better. It must be applied to each sheet separately and after waiting for 3-5 minutes, connect all the sheets.

Making a workbench top from plywood

After this, the glued sheets must be laid on a flat place and pressed down on top with a heavy load; everything should remain in this state for 24 hours. In order not to cut each sheet of plywood to size, you can first glue them together, and then cut out the tabletop for the workbench from the prepared material.

Now you need to cut off an iron sheet for the top covering of the working surface of the workbench, on which all work will be carried out (metal 4–6 mm thick is required). For accuracy, it is better to place it on plywood and trace the outline with an awl or nail. Then cut the sheet with a jigsaw equipped with a metal file. You need to fasten the tabletop with bolts, having previously drilled holes in it and on the workbench. After assembling the workbench, you can make small shelves and cabinets with doors in its lower part. Any plywood or pieces of chipboard left over after making the racks will be suitable for this.

Iron sheet for workbench top cover

A variety of homemade products make the life and work process of a car enthusiast much easier. There is no need to look in the corners to find out where everything is, all the details are in their place. A simple-to-assemble alarm system will reliably protect the garage from burglary or car theft.

A variety of accessories for a private garage, designed and manufactured in-house, allow for better and more efficient vehicle maintenance. Their creation requires minimal financial costs. At the same time homemade equipment in most cases, its capabilities are in no way inferior to expensive factory analogues.

Stand for electric drill - simplify the drilling process

In a private garage, over time, more and more different tools and equipment used for maintenance appear vehicle. The owner should ensure their convenient and rational storage in such a way that the most necessary equipment were always at hand, and rarely used ones were hidden away. To solve this problem, you need to draw a basic sketch and create shelves or. Ready-made options There are many such designs on the Internet. And it’s not at all difficult to come up with a shelving system yourself.

More problems arise when you need some rare homemade products for the garage. For example, many car owners use an electric drill when servicing their car and performing various chores around the house. Often, with its help, it is necessary to make perfectly even holes with axes strictly perpendicular to the plane of the workpiece. Anyone who has tried to achieve such a result knows that it is not at all easy. As a rule, the holes are skewed. A drill stand can solve this problem. To build it with your own hands, you need to stock up on:

  • rod or calibrated tube;
  • a platform from a milling cutter (manual), which has not been used for its intended purpose for a long time due to its wear and tear;
  • sheets of plywood.

It is permitted to use another suitable platform as a base for the stand. The main thing is that it is level and has areas where you can install new long guides. The function of the latter in our case will be performed, as you already understood, by metal rods or calibrated tubes. The process of building a rack is truly simple. Let's describe it.

First we cut a box from a sheet of plywood. It must be done precisely according to the geometric parameters of the available drill. Then it is necessary to secure our power tool as securely as possible for drilling holes in the box prepared for it. Fixation is best done using special wing nuts. After this, we make two holes in the box and pass tubes (rods) - guides - through them. We mount a handle on top of them. With its help, we will move the drill to drill holes vertically.

Advice. If you want to control the drilling depth, it is advisable to additionally equip the design with a quick-release clamp. It will act as a movement limiter for the drill. All the work described was done by a more or less experienced home handyman will not cause the slightest problem. And in the end we will get easy-to-use and very useful homemade equipment.

Mini knife sharpening machine - reliable and compact

Now let's try to make a device that will allow you to sharpen kitchen and any other knives. We proceed like this:

  1. 1. Take an unnecessary sheet of metal (in any garage it is sure to be lying somewhere in the corner and waiting in the wings).
  2. 2. We fix a threaded bolt in its lower part, and weld a small corner on top of the metal plate.
  3. 3. Place a nut on the bolt thread. It serves as a hinge for the lateral movement of our device. With its help you can change the sharpening angle of knives.
  4. 4. We weld another one to the described nut. We got a ready-made hole for the rod in the bolt. It is easy to make from thin wire.

The clamp in the machine will be the top part of the sheet. We make two holes in it. We apply a clamp to the frame. Then we cut another hole. It must be end-to-end (common to the plate and clamp). Next, we make carvings in the bed, taking into account the length of the bars for turning. They are optimally made from artificial diamonds. There is no more wear-resistant and at the same time inexpensive product in nature. And we’ll make clamps for the beams in a couple of minutes from a piece of ebonite or plexiglass.

All that remains is to drill an additional hole on the plate, placing it away from the knife, and cut a thread for the bolt, which will be used to tighten it. A compact and high-quality sharpening tool is ready! We put it on a shelf in the garage and use it as needed. Machines made according to the described scheme can be taken with you even on a hike. These garage sharpeners weigh little and take up minimal space.

Crane beam for the garage - let's make vehicle repairs easier!

Maintenance and simple car repairs in home garage are significantly simplified if there is a crane in the room. Look at the photo below. It shows how convenient and useful a garage structure can be constructed without much effort.

We will make the transverse rod from a pipe with a cross-section of 10 cm, the supports for it from pipes 11 cm. Important! Racks homemade design It is recommended to make it from square profile pipes with dimensions of 10x10 cm. They will provide the device with good stability. We attach the rod to the supports with M16 bolts (you can use other fasteners), fix the bevels and the base using a 10x10 cm corner.

We buy a lifting cable at the nearest construction store. We take the rollers for it from the elevator door drive mechanism. Notice! The rollers need to be well secured. This operation is best performed using a narrow (5 cm) metal strip. Lifting of objects on the crane beam will be ensured by a worm hand winch. And don't forget to attach another set of rollers to the vertical posts. They will allow you to move the crane beam throughout the garage without any problems.

DIY compressor - homemade for advanced drivers

Any car enthusiast can build workbenches, hanging shelves and other useful crafts for storing equipment. It is more difficult to make machines with your own hands and special equipment. But with the right approach to the matter, it is possible to cope with such tasks. Let's assemble a compressor that can be used for blowing vehicle components and mechanisms, painting a car, and monitoring tire pressure.

We will need a 10-liter air receiver (a device with a slightly larger or smaller volume is suitable), a refrigeration unit (old, not used for a long time), and also:

  • adapters;
  • inexpensive filter regulator (feel free to purchase the cheapest one);
  • oxygen pressure gauge for the receiver;
  • fastening clamps;
  • hose (approximately 200 cm) designed for 20 bar pressure.

The compressor assembly process is simple. The receiver has outputs at the bottom, middle and top. The bottom one is necessary for draining oil and condensate, the middle one is for installing a pressure gauge. The flow is supplied to the consumer through the upper compressed air. We connect all the required elements to the outputs of the device and secure them with clamps. We connect the filter regulator to the receiver panel. Next to it there will be a button to start the unit. The maximum pressure of the regulator on a homemade device should not exceed eight atmospheres, the minimum - two.

It is advisable to additionally equip the compressor with an emergency valve. This inexpensive element will guarantee completely safe operation of your homemade device.

We will place the completed compressor near the wall on a rack or shelf. It will not interfere when moving around the garage, while at the same time being always at hand for the home craftsman. Advice. The old compressor must be thoroughly cleaned of rust before use. And then buy an aerosol can of paint and paint the unit.

Pulley for adjusting the speed of homemade machines and other crafts

We will briefly describe other popular tricks that are easily made from used tools and unnecessary things. Let's make, for example, a pulley for any machine in the garage. The material for its assembly can be textolite, metal, or plywood sheets. The last option is the simplest:

  1. 1. We cut out two larger and one smaller circles in a plywood blank. The diameter of the holes made must correspond to the cross-section of the shaft mounted on the machine.
  2. 2. Place all the circles on the screw, use a nut to tighten them firmly. Instead of this fastener, it is allowed to use good glue. It will securely fix all the elements into a single structure.
  3. 3. Additionally, we tighten the details of the craft with screws.
  4. 4. Use a file or sandpaper to process the homemade pulley, apply a couple of layers of drying oil to it.
  5. 5. After drying, place the made device on the chuck of any mini-machine (for example, an electric drill). And we use the tool for our own pleasure, because now we can choose its rotation speed and control the load on the electric motor of the unit.

If necessary, it is possible to make a toothed pulley. To do this, it is enough to cut narrow grooves (tubules) in a small circle. This part of the operation must be completed before assembling the pulley.

If you have an electric jigsaw that is not being used because the blade holder is broken, there is no need to send it to the landfill. There are little tricks to give your instrument a second life. On its platform it is possible to assemble a simple tabletop jigsaw. We take a square of metal and solder a bolt into it. We get a new saw blade holder! Solder it to the old holder.

Then we make a stationary desktop. We take a plywood sheet and cut it to the size of the jigsaw. We attach a wooden stand to the back plane of the working surface (we use durum varieties), install on the front furniture legs. Next we mount working structure onto a suitable base plate. Use a refurbished and improved jigsaw to your health.

It’s rare that a garage is used exclusively for storing a car, but even one over time acquires a bunch of home-made products necessary for its maintenance. Often it is the garage that serves as a home workshop for its owner. What should you fill it with to make the life of the car owner easier and, of course, save on car repairs and maintenance.

We will talk about homemade products for the garage and home craftsman that you can make with your own hands.

The very first thing, in my opinion, that needs to be created in the garage is a place to store all kinds of small items and tools. These can be racks or shelves that will fit well into the garage interior and help put things in order. They can be made from wooden planks or metal corners that you left during the renovation or construction of your house.

And with the help of magnets you can easily tidy up small parts.

A garage for storage is very useful garden supplies, if space allows, of course, because It is not always the case that a special room is allocated for such things in a suburban area. The photo below shows how easy it is to do this using strips and hooks.

It is also convenient to store travel and sports equipment in the garage (after all, not everyone in their city apartment has extra space to store bicycles for the winter).

The following devices on the ceiling save a lot of space in the room:

And most importantly, tires have a special place in the garage. Real home craftsmen can easily make tire holders with their own hands.

And if there is welding machine, then such holders can be constructed from metal corners.

It saves space and keeps the garage clear of clutter. And you can safely create masterpieces in making homemade products for repairing and servicing your car.

Stands and mini-overpasses in the garage

A jack is a standard tool included with a car, but it is strictly prohibited to carry out even minor work under the bottom of the car when it is hung on a jack. And sometimes it is necessary to lift its entire front or back part.

In this case, you can’t do without goat stands.

Sometimes the stands are made in the form of mini-overpasses that the car runs over.

Except general requirements listed below, important element For such stands there is a travel limiter at the front of the structure.

It doesn’t matter what they are made of, but the requirements are the same:

  • stable wide support;
  • safety margin for the design weight of the vehicle;
  • minimal gaps between moving elements for height-adjustable stands.

The video shows the simplest coasters with a drive-in:

Very often, just such a homemade product is not at hand in the garage during repairs that do not require the involvement of service specialists.

After all, they are used to remove not only bearings from the shafts, but also gears, and they will also help press out and press in silent blocks and so on.

A factory-made bearing puller is quite expensive, but making this device yourself is not so difficult:

Even if you don’t have welding, and you need a puller urgently, you can clamp an elongated nut with stops between the strips of the puller body from the video. Or use a power plate design with drilled holes, as in the photo, where the nuts can simply work against the stop and without welding. But a small welder capable of securing such elements is also useful to have in the garage.

Homemade welding from a microwave transformer for the garage

This is one of the most suitable transformers for conversion into a welding machine. The primary winding in it is standard, only the secondary is altered. Moreover, the wire can be used thinner than in the video offered to you, but preferably with a cross-section of 8 - 10 mm:

The number of turns simply increases. Transformers from low-power microwave ovens produce welds with a power of 0.5 kW, a current of about 250A and an output voltage of about 2V. They are capable of welding 2 sheets of steel with a thickness of 1-1.5 mm.

Such devices can be doubled, increasing the power ratings.

But it is not necessary to saw the housing - you can saw off the protruding turns of the secondary winding and take it out, and simply drag the new wire through the resulting windows.

Also, it is not at all necessary to place the electrodes opposite each other. You can place them side by side, with a gap of 2 - 3 mm. With this device you can weld the wing to the body and do much more.

You just need to modify the holder a little and make it removable.

And for small things, this version of mini-welding using a standard car battery is quite suitable:

Compressor from an old refrigerator in the garage

Despite its apparent weakness, it is a fully functional unit. With its help, you can pump up the tires and, with a little modification, paint the car. It is no weaker than most people who use a cigarette lighter automotive compressors, but unlike them, they can work for much longer.

The main problem direct use This compressor is the presence of a thermostat in its connection diagram as part of the refrigeration unit. It should be disabled:

But installing a fine filter on the outlet hose of a car that catches oil droplets is ineffective; it is better to use more powerful filters with sedimentation tanks for this purpose. The starting relay should be used as standard. The compressor is powered by 220V, which makes it connected to the mains, but in a garage it is a very useful device.

To inflate the wheels, you should put a gun with a pressure valve and a pressure gauge on the outlet hose, because this little thing can create pressure up to 16 atm.

And if you plan to use such a compressor to carry out small painting jobs, then you cannot do without a receiver.

Its role can be played by any sealed container capable of withstanding a pressure of 4 - 7 atm, into which 2 threaded or comb fittings can be inserted. Installation of a pressure gauge in such a system is mandatory.

You can also use a car wheel or even a camera as a receiver. A more stationary version of such a receiver is shown in the video:

But you don’t have to spoil the disk, but make the system simpler.

The pumping hose is connected to the system through a spool, and on the outlet branch there is a mechanism for shutting off the air in the paint sprayer.

Of course you can use and .

But in this case, a shut-off valve should be installed in front of it. But the wheel can also be inflated with a mechanical pump; with a small air flow, such pressure will be sufficient.

The simplest devices for recharging the battery

Having a full-fledged car charger is good, but sometimes it’s quite expensive, especially since cheaper devices can also perform its function. So, a laptop charger can handle a full charge of a car battery with a capacity of up to 75 ampere-hours.

Moreover, there is no need to make any alterations, but simply plug in a 12-volt 55-watt car lamp into the circuit and periodically monitor the battery charge level with a multimeter.

When the indicator reaches 13 - 13.5V, you should stop charging - the battery is fully charged. In addition, it is extremely important not to confuse the polarity. This use of the adapter does not harm it at all.

In general, without any modifications, chargers for 12-volt cordless power tools handle the recharging function quite well, and most of them also have LEDs indicating that the battery is fully charged.

An old computer power supply can also slightly recharge a dead battery to a level sufficient to start the car. It has an output voltage of 12V, and to fully charge it needs to be up to 14V, but minor modifications can provide this voltage.

Tire mounting and balancing - homemade products for the home craftsman

Creating devices for independent tire mounting and balancing in your garage is realistic, and will allow you to constantly save quite a lot of money. And you don’t need a lot of equipment for this:

  • universal machine for tire mounting;
  • balancing device.

Some craftsmen destroy functional parts tire changer, but in a garage it is better to combine them on the contrary.

You will need a paw with a lever for tearing the tire off the rim and a stationary stand with holes for mounting the rim and a central stop pin. The disk can be mounted in various ways, but since you most often have 1-2 cars for personal use, it makes sense to make the mounts for specific wheels. The easiest way would be to drill holes for the bolts locally. The number of levers for removing and installing a tire on a disk can be large, or you can get by with just one – double-sided.

This is exactly what the home master did in the video:

Of course, it would be more convenient to attach such a machine to the base, but on the other hand: when assembled, it will not take up much space in the garage, but will perform its main function anyway.

And yet we don’t trim wheels as often as they require balancing. According to the rules, it should be done at least every 10 thousand kilometers, but this procedure at a service station is quite expensive and therefore few people maintain the established frequency. And its quality does not always meet our expectations, because complex computerized machines are even more expensive to set up and maintain, and the running gear of our cars suffers as a result.

There are 2 types of balancing:

  • static;
  • dynamic.

The jigs for both are not complicated, but you will need a good turner and a quality bearing for one of them. Static balancing is often sufficient if you mostly drive at speeds no higher than 120 km/h. You need to turn a hub to secure the wheel of your car, it is advisable to do this with one fastening of the part or subsequently carefully balance it by drilling blind holes in the right place.

And the process of static balancing is clear from the video:

The listed accessories for the garage, which are not difficult to make with your own hands, are not the only ones of their kind; there are a lot of other homemade products that simplify the “garage” life of a home craftsman. If you share your options for such devices with us, we will be sincerely glad.

Dear readers, if you have any questions, please ask them using the form below. We will be glad to communicate with you;)

The garage takes up a lot of space in the life of the stronger half of humanity, even if the family does not have a car. In addition to being used as a room for storing and servicing a car, the garage has a fairly wide range of functions, despite its rather limited area.

How can you arrange a garage?

First, let's look at several options for ergonomic use and design of the interior space of the garage:

  • In its internal configuration, in 99% of cases, a garage box has rectangular shape. Accordingly, the distance from the car to the side walls is not very large and is not comfortable for carrying out any work. The most common arrangement option is to move the work area (workbench, shelving or cabinets with tools and spare parts) to the rear of the garage, to the wall opposite the gate. This area may even have enough space to install some kind of necessary equipment, in addition to the workbench.
  • If there is an additional room in a large garage (utility room, electrical room), then on the surface of its door you can organize tool storage using a hanging sheet or fill it with holders in the form of loops of different sizes made of plastic and ordinary ropes.

  • The simplest option: If you cannot install a shelving in the garage, you can place a metal grill at some distance from the wall. You can hang almost any objects, clothes and the like on it. You don't even have to install shelves.
  • Another way out is to attach hooks to any surface. There simply can’t be enough of them in the garage. You can make them yourself, or you can buy them at the supermarket. Significant savings in free space are guaranteed.

Little tricks for the garage

So, the garage has been purchased. At the initial stage of arrangement, we will most likely talk about purchasing pieces of furniture. Finding something that suits the owner and at the same time takes up a minimum of space is not so easy. The way out of this situation is to make the necessary pieces of furniture with your own hands.

Table with folding topideal option for a small garage. Such a stand does not take up much space, but can be a table with a very decent usable area. In its manufacture, the materials from which the old cabinet was made are often used.

Materials:

  • furniture hinges;
  • wood fasteners;
  • accessories;
  • wooden blocks;
  • anchor.

First, markings are made using a building or household level.

Next steps:

  • the block is drilled through and attached to the wall with anchors;
  • holes are marked and drilled in the future plane of the table and the area where the corners are attached;

  • the block and the tabletop are connected by hinges;
  • the table in the folded position is held by a standard latch, lock or hook, which is fixed to the wall;
  • The table supports are simply leaned against the wall next to the table.

How to make a stand for a drill?

Making a mini-drilling machine with your own hands does not require highly qualified, but greatly expands the scope of application of an ordinary electric drill. In addition, the machine will be much cheaper than a purchased one, and components can be borrowed from previously used devices.

Making a wooden stand will take very little time and will not require any special materials or tools:

  • wooden blocks or boards no thinner than 20 mm;
  • furniture guides;

  • metal rod with thread for caliper;
  • fasteners for wooden parts(screws, glue);
  • emery.

Tools:

  • hacksaw;
  • vice;
  • screwdriver set;
  • electric drill.

The dimensions of the mini-machine are chosen in accordance with the size of the workspace in the garage.

Making a stand from metal requires a little more time and materials, so it is necessary to cover it in a little more detail.

The proposed metal stand is more versatile than one made of wood and includes:

  • supporting frame;
  • guide posts of the drill, to which it is attached and moved vertically;
  • vertical tool feed handle;
  • additional components for ease of use.

How to make an overpass for car repairs?

It's no secret that a car needs regular maintenance and minor repairs, like any technically complex mechanism. For ease of access to components and assemblies located on the bottom of the car, a hand-made lightweight overpass is often used, which will significantly save money spent on service station technicians.

Overpasses come in full and small sizes. Strictly speaking, overpasses function in the same way as inspection pits.

The need to build such a useful invention is most often dictated by the high boundary of the aquifer in the place where the garage is built, which makes the construction of an inspection pit impossible.

It is quite possible to install the overpass yourself. For this case, you need drawings, an action plan and taking into account the dimensions of the car:

  • the total length of the overpass is usually taken from the calculation - length of the car + 1 m;
  • ladder width – more than 40 cm;
  • height of supports – 70-80 cm.

The ladders are made from a corner, the cabinets are welded from a corner with a shelf width of 50 mm. The surface of the ladder is made of corrugated steel with a cross-section of more than 14 mm.

How to assemble a compressor for a garage?

When servicing a car, and for other work in the home and garage, there is often a need for air compressor. It will help with painting, inflating tires, blowing off dust, and in many other cases.

The simplest compressor for painting a car can be assembled from an old car inner tube.

Here is the description necessary materials and tools to bring this idea to life:

  • the camera itself will serve as the receiver;
  • supercharger - a pump, preferably with a pressure gauge;
  • tire repair kit;
  • awl.

Procedure:

  • check the chamber for damage with the pump and repair it if found;
  • make a hole in the receiver to release a stream of compressed air;
  • glue in the additional fitting and connect it to the spray gun;
  • Unscrew the nipple in it to give air free passage;

  • leave the “original” chamber nipple - it will be used as a valve, holding excess pressure;
  • by testing, determine the required air pressure of the receiver, spraying paint and ensuring that it lies evenly;
  • The main rule is that there should be nothing foreign in the chamber: moisture, particles of dirt and dust.

If you have a minimum number of assembly skills, more than complex structures, we can suggest trying to assemble a compressor of greater complexity and versatility, which can be used to measure the number of atmospheres in car tires, paint, blow and blow off dust.

The method is inexpensive, even if you don’t have a lot of scrap materials in the garage.

Installation is carried out from:

  • old refrigeration unit;
  • air receiver with a volume of up to 10 l;
  • pressure gauge for the air receiver;
  • air pressure regulator;

  • hose high pressure(20 bar);
  • the most inexpensive filter-regulator;
  • several clamps;
  • adapters.

The compressor does not take up much space, so it can be installed in a niche on the wall or on a DIY wall shelf, where necessity dictates.

This type of compressor receiver has three outputs:

  • the top one supplies compressed air;
  • the middle one is used by the pressure gauge in the receiver;
  • condensate and oil are drained through the bottom.

Operating principle: the compressor sucks air through bottom part, where the filter regulator and switch switch are installed. The regulator pressure limits range from two to eight atmospheres.

To ensure against troubles, you can install a relief valve for safety.

How to make a crane-lift?

No one will deny that periodically any car needs to be serviced, and from time to time repaired. Serious repairs are not a cheap pleasure, so many car owners undertake to do it in the garage or at the dacha with their own hands. For example, when repairing an engine, significant physical effort will be required when removing it and installing it in place after repair.

A crane with a winch can be of great help in such operations. It can be equipped in the garage either by purchasing it in a supermarket or with your own hands, according to a simple diagram.

The most practical way to place such a crane beam is above the front of a car parked in a garage. If the boom reach is 1 meter, then work area will be around 5 m².

The base in the considered option will be sheet steel 400x400x25 mm. A rod with a diameter of 80 mm is welded into it, attached to the ceiling with M16 bolts.

It is necessary to ensure compliance with horizontal levels, since often gender is either ceiling garages may have a slope in one direction or another.

The boom is made of a meter strut, 50x50 angles and a glass with two pressed bronze bearing bushings. The entire structure is secured with a cotter shaped nut M42x2.

Pit and cellar

Useful space is not limited to the garage box itself: you rarely see a garage without a cellar, where racks for pickles and marinades, and departments for fruits and vegetables collected on the original “six hundred square meters” are so excellently located.

The situation is as follows: a garage has been built/bought/rented, the car requires repairs or simply maintenance, and there is no inspection hole in the garage. There is a way out - build it with your own hands.

In general, the inspection pit should be of such a size that the owner can sit and work in it comfortably.

To do this, measure the dimensions of the hole:

  • length pits are selected in accordance with the length of the car base + 1 meter;
  • width determined by measuring the distance between the front wheels minus 20 cm to ensure that the car does not fall through when entering;
  • depth selected according to the height of the car owner + 20 cm.

Life hack: you need to add 30 cm to all the obtained dimensions. This is done for the intended installation of hydro- and thermal insulation.

Let's take a step-by-step look at the construction process itself:

  • The dimensions of the pit are marked.

Lifehack. If you already have a floor screed, you will have to organize the work order as follows: apply markings and then cut through them with a grinder or some other tool.

  • We keep the floor parallel with the help of a level and carefully compact it. Usually, the first layer on the floor of the pit is a cushion of crushed stone, then in order: 5 cm of sand, 30 cm of clay, reinforced mesh, which is filled with concrete in a layer of 7 cm. Then it is necessarily spilled with bitumen-based mastic, roofing material is laid on top, then the seams are coated and lay a layer of foam plastic and the next layer of concrete 15 cm.

  • The walls of the pit are coated with clay, polyethylene is laid, and roofing felt is placed on it and all joints, as on the floor, are coated with mastic.

  • Creating formwork is the most labor-intensive operation: it is made up of plywood sheets or boards, leaving a gap of 7 cm from the wall.

  • The wall is reinforced and filled with concrete.

Life hack: the height is filled at a speed of 20 cm per day, not faster.

  • Niches can be made in the walls; ceramic tiles must be used as cladding.

When arranging a cellar in a garage, the most reliable solution is to use a caisson. If you are wondering what a caisson is, it is best to turn to several life hacks that will explain its purpose.

Simply put, a caisson is a can. An ordinary large waterproof canister, tank or anything that resembles them. It is used as a basement impermeable to soil moisture.

It consists of:

  • over-caisson structure (this is the entrance to the cellar hatch);
  • a cylindrical chamber with dimensions of 2 m in height and 1 m in diameter, this is the best option in terms of the proportion “volume/materials consumed”;
  • The caisson is additionally waterproofed from moisture using various bitumen mastics, an asphalt layer or various solutions, again based on bitumen.

Let's look at a few useful tips and recommendations on this matter:

  • The walls of the caisson must withstand significant external pressure; you should not skimp on their thickness.
  • Welds must be welded twice, and the use of anti-corrosion agents is highly recommended.

  • When using a caisson, it is necessary to install a reliable ventilation system.
  • The list of basic storage units is almost the same: canned food and pickles, other homemade supplies rolled into jars and other containers, unprocessed vegetables and fruits. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account their storage conditions.

  • Ventilation required special attention: the option of natural ventilation is not always suitable due to the lack of the possibility of its artificial regulation. Better fit forced ventilation.
  • If there is no caisson, for waterproofing, a so-called sand cushion 25-30 cm thick is laid on the floor, covered with roofing felt or other material on top, and the seams are glued with bitumen or mastic.

  • Raw vegetables stored on the floor in boxes. Carrots and beets are additionally sprinkled with sand.
  • Wood shelving tends to become covered in fungus over time. To avoid this, they are coated with protective mixtures.

  • Steel racks do not have this drawback, but they tend to corrode, so they are treated with water-repellent materials.
  • Plastic shelving is resistant to moisture and corrosion, but is quite fragile and cannot bear a large weight load.

  • The depth of the cellar is directly proportional to the depth of the aquifer in this particular area, unless a caisson is used.
  • When using a caisson, measures must be taken to prevent it from being squeezed out. groundwater to the surface.
  • The cellar floor should be located at least 1 meter from the upper boundary of the aquifer.

How to make a workbench?

Who has ever seen a garage that doesn’t have a workbench with a vice attached to it? Or a garage without shelves, mezzanines, or wall cabinets? Without test stand or maintenance car?

By looking at the interior of the garage, you can immediately tell who its owner is and how functional this or that option for using the internal space is, how much it optimizes it for operation.

A large and convenient workbench in the garage is its undeniable advantage. If you organize boxes for tools and parts in it, then it will turn into a universal place of work. Typically, such a workbench is made across the entire width of the garage with drawers of various sizes.

To install it with dimensions 660x100x60 cm you need:

  • saw;
  • plywood of various thicknesses;
  • polyurethane;
  • paints;
  • sander;
  • fastener

Operating procedure:

  • for a workbench measuring 660x100x60 cm, you will need to cut 4 sheets 20 mm thick;
  • for the working surface it is better to use sanded plywood;

  • boxes are made from strips 0.6x4.8 m, 13 mm thick;
  • sections of the rack are assembled from 20 fragments measuring 61x61 cm;

  • each vertical row of drawers is calculated as follows: 3 small and 1 deep;
  • the depth of the guide grooves is 1.27 cm;

  • additionally cut a 254 mm groove at the bottom of the cabinet and three grooves 127 mm apart and 146 mm from the top of the cabinet;
  • the required structural rigidity is created by strengthening back wall strips of plywood;

  • we assemble all the structures for five boxes and fasten them together, then fix them to the wall with fastening screws so that there is free space for oversized items;
  • assemble boxes from 13 mm thick plywood;

  • handles are cut out in the front wall of the drawer or purchased ready-made and fixed with self-tapping screws;
  • the dimensions of the lower drawers are 120x25x5 cm and 60x25x5 cm;

  • a 60x120 cm frame is attached to the working surface of the workbench;
  • finishing the workbench involves sanding and painting in several layers.
  • Finishing with varnish is allowed.

How to make shelving?

A rack is one of the most common rational solutions for organizing free space when placing things in a limited volume of a house or garage. The surfaces of the box walls invite you to lean a rack against them or strengthen a dozen or two shelves and put a wide variety of items on them: from fishing equipment and clothes to outboard motor and a spare engine cylinder block.

A garage rack can be purchased at retail chains - this is an option that requires almost no energy consumption. Installation/disassembly of such structures is elementary and does not require highly qualified assembler.

Perfect for all categories of garage owners, but quite expensive and will require a certain investment of capital.

You can try to make a rack yourself from scrap or purchased materials: from scraps of pipes, profiles or corners, from pieces of plywood, chipboard, plastic.

Instead of drawers, it is quite possible to use the usual plastic canisters. The canister is positioned horizontally, and using the handle that is in front, it is pulled out and returned to its place.

The only thing that should not be forgotten is that it is prohibited to use canisters and other containers containing chemically aggressive, radioactive or flammable substances that can be harmful to health. Best option– drinking water canister.

To make a rack from aluminum or other metal yourself, you need to carry out preparations, take dimensions, calculate the load and select the material for the product. You should also take into account what communications are located in the place where the rack is planned to be installed.

  • First, determine the external dimensions of the product.
  • Then calculate the number of shelves and their height. It makes sense to make them of unequal heights, since the sizes of storage items vary.

  • It is irrational to make sections that are too wide - the load-carrying capacity of the shelves will sharply decrease and the possibility of collapse will increase.
  • The drawing should begin with a sketch of the rack, its schematic representation with preliminary dimensions, giving general concept about what should happen in the end.

  • The next step will be cutting the vertical parts.
  • All parts are cut to the same length from a solid profile or angle. It is not recommended to compose them from separate parts.

  • Sometimes metal or metal-plastic pipes are used as risers.
  • The material for the shelves is chosen taking into account its strength. For example, shelves made of chipboard and fiberboard will not support significant weight due to their relative fragility.

  • Design shelves no wider than 60 cm.
  • The presence of a edging (side) on the shelf will serve in two directions at once - it will create an additional stiffening rib and prevent small parts from falling.

  • First, install the vertical posts. The method of fastening (to the floor, ceiling, walls) should be considered at the stage of drawing up the drawing.
  • When installing, be sure to use a level to avoid distortions.
  • The shelves are secured using corners.

Let's look at some useful life hacks:

  • Sometimes, to save space, shelves are attached directly to the ceiling without using vertical supports on the floor. Wall shelves They can free up space in the lower tier of the garage box, but they cannot have a special load-carrying capacity. You can stack oversized but lightweight long slats on them, plastic corners, cardboard pipes, etc. They can also be made mesh - then you can additionally hang something from them with hooks.
  • Another popular way to use a wall is to arrange a metal or plastic panel with fastenings (hooks, brackets, etc.), this will greatly save free space.
  • To create a small gap between the wall and the panel, it is recommended to use wine corks, sawn in half.

Hanging structures

The problem of storing small parts, screws, washers, bolts and other fasteners in the garage is quite acute. On the one hand, they should always be at hand, on the other hand, they are quite easy to lose or drop on the floor. There are several options for solving the problem. Here is one of the interesting, simple and inexpensive options - just ingenuity and a new look at using ordinary things.

To begin with, you need to decide required quantity cells of the required size.

To work you will need:

  • 4 metal slats, each 2.2 m long;
  • electric drill;
  • fastener

In our case (see photo) there are 24 identical cells in a row. There are four rows in total, the size of each cell is 14x10x7.5 cm. In a metal strip (in our case, its length is 2 m), holes must be drilled for the entire length of the row with a drill for fastening to the wall. Saving is not recommended, since the rail will keep the cells filled metal parts . Next, the slats are attached to the wall. We attach the cells to the slats. Ready!

Original options

You have to do a lot of things in the garage with your own hands, because among all the variety of goods that modern industry offers us, there is not always something that fully satisfies the demand of a picky and skilled owner.

In this case, we are talking not only about furniture (cabinets, racks, shelves, tables, workbenches), but also about all kinds of homemade devices, which make life so much easier when a sudden need arises to perform a non-standard operation.

The garage performs a wide variety of functions: from a storage room and a workshop to a repair box and a resting place. In any case, there are a lot original ideas, embodied in useful, necessary and functional devices and homemade products for the garage, which are quite accessible for making from improvised means with your own hands.

  • To protect against drafts, it is often recommended to lay a kind of felt “sausage” under the garage door. It is very helpful when working inside the garage during the winter season.
  • A spare set of tires is stored hanging or on its side. If there are no disks, tires are stored vertically with the obligatory change of their position once a month.

  • To place them in a standing position, it is recommended to design a storage location on the wall with your own hands. In fact, it is a wall-mounted triangular frame into which tires are inserted in a standing position. The farther the frame is installed from heating devices, the better the tires will be preserved.
  • It’s good if there are used tires in the garage that have not yet been scrapped. If you put a piece of plywood or chipboard on top of such a tire and decorate it with decor, it will turn into such an elegant thing as a designer stool.

  • If you lack driving experience, you can mount a used tire on the wall opposite the gate as a bump stop. This craft will significantly reduce the risk of scratching the bumper when parking the car.
  • An old tire makes a homemade little thing for storing small items. Attaching the tire to the wall is quite simple, and this option will look impressive. For gardeners, the shelf can easily turn into a flower bed if the tire is placed outside the garage.

  • Storing various wrenches (socket wrenches, combination wrenches, adjustable wrenches) on hooks is beneficial and preferable from several points of view. Several keys on one hook, they are clearly visible, take up little space, and are all accessible at once.
  • It is very convenient to store rags using a wall holder, which uses ordinary clothespins. The rags will always be at hand, no need to waste time looking for them.

  • To make notes “for memory”, you need a board and chalk. But this is completely optional: cover a cabinet door, part of a gate, some kind of shield, or just a free, flat section of the wall with graphite paint and make a schedule of tasks on it, leave notes or write down the dimensions of the future shelving.
  • Using a grinder, you can turn an old 200-liter barrel into a wonderful chair if you cover it with foam rubber or rubber. The same thing can become the basis of a table for something needed.

  • Boxes with various things on the garage floor will become much more mobile if you attach wheels from old office chairs to them.
  • If, in addition to the hooks, you attach a figuratively cut strip with holes and staples to the wall above the workbench, it will be very helpful for storing and using pencils, drills, spools of thread or twine.

  • The same applies to various types loops and straps attached to the garage wall.
  • If to the bottom surface wall cabinet attach lids; they are very convenient for screwing on jars in which various small items are stored.
  • Another possibility of using them: an electric cable is pulled through the hole in the lid, and a socket with a lamp is placed in the jar - the lampshade is ready!

Garage doors– a very significant and important part of boxing. They carry a fairly significant load, serve as the main obstacle to burglars, and require thermal insulation. To all of the above, we can add that the gate should be as convenient to use as possible for the garage owner.

The version of the gate equipped with extension springs or torsion springs is not yet very popular in Russia compared to the “classic” version, but they also deserve attention precisely because of their ease of use.

Tension springs are usually used with gates smaller than 8 m². They do not require a large lintel height due to the use of extension springs installed on the sides. They are easier to install, and their price is lower than gates that use torsion springs. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to install a built-in gate in such gates.

Torsion springs are used when installing gates larger than 8 m². 3 types of installation are allowed: standard, low, high. A big plus when using gates of this type is the protection against falling of the door leaf when the springs fail and low-noise operation, just like the version with a built-in wicket door.
