Marking

Sheathing

The final stage of work is covering the frame with sheets of plasterboard. Installation of the sheathing frame

  • We proceed to fastening along the entire marked perimeter of the 28X27 guide profiles using any type of fastener that is suitable for your walls.

  • The “crab” is screwed to the guides using self-tapping screws (LN) measuring 3.5 x 9.5 mm, which also received their diminutive names from the builders: “bugs” or “fleas”.

As a result, we should get a sheathing from a profile with a cell of 40X40.

  • Then we outline the locations for installing the hangers. Using dowel nails, we attach the hangers to the concrete ceiling. If the ceiling is made of something different, more soft material, then the hangers can be secured with screws.
  • By changing the length of the fixed hangers, we adjust the plane of our entire structure to one level. The ceiling frame is ready.
  • We proceed to covering the frame with gypsum plasterboard sheets. The sheets should be fastened from the middle to the edges or from edge to other edge. We use self-tapping screws (TN) with dimensions f3.5x25mm. Screws are screwed in strictly perpendicular to the sheets and deepened into the profile by 10 mm, no less. And the heads of the screws should be recessed into the drywall by 1 mm.

Sheathing with plasterboard sheets

Advice. When starting to finish the mounted plasterboard ceiling, check whether the screws protrude above the surface of the sheet.

  • The edge of the gypsum board sheet should touch the profile, overlapping it by three centimeters. Joints end edges plasterboard sheets should be spaced apart with an offset relative to each other by at least a profile pitch (40cm).

    Advice. First, the end edges of the sheets are chamfered at an angle of 22.5° to a depth of 2/3 of the sheet thickness using a special edge plane.

  • Using a narrow spatula, apply the first layer of gypsum putty inside the joint. Spread the excess mixture evenly over the heat-affected surface of the sheet. Next, reinforcing tape (serpyanka) is applied to this seam using putty; it should cover the width of the entire seam by at least 100 mm on both sides.
  • The tape should be pressed into the layer of putty that has not yet hardened in all places other than the very deepening of the joint. There should be no waves or bends. After fixing the reinforcing material, you must wait until the putty has completely dried.

Sealing joints

  • When the first layer has dried, take a wide spatula and first dry clean the surface of the seam from particles of putty and its frozen drips. Next, apply a thin layer of putty with a wide spatula, but this time covering a larger area of ​​the sheet.

Advice: It is recommended to use a 250 mm spatula, in this case the layer will be of this width. The task is to smooth out as much as possible that invisible bump that appeared when applying the reinforcing tape.

  • It is possible that you will have to putty more than once until you get a smooth surface. Finally, sanding is carried out with regular fine sandpaper or a special mesh.

Marking

For high-quality execution When marking, it is better to use not one, but several tools. The markup is done as follows:

  • After determining the lowest point of the ceiling and taking into account the height of the housing of the recessed lamps, a base mark is placed on the wall, which is later transferred to all corners. When using a laser level, marks can be placed in all corners at once;
  • all marks are connected by a solid line drawn with a marking cord;
  • on the base ceiling we draw a geometrically correct grid with a cell size of 60x60 cm.

Frame arrangement

Due to the fact that all the marking lines have already been drawn, you can begin to carry out the main part of the installation work:

  • We fasten UD guide profiles around the entire perimeter. The normal fastening pitch is 40-50 cm;
  • Using a hammer drill, we drill holes for plumb lines along the lines marked on the ceiling, and fasten each suspension with two fasteners;
  • we install the CD load-bearing profiles according to the ceiling markings and fix them to the suspended elements;
  • We check the correct installation of the supporting part by applying a long rule and, if necessary, eliminate inaccuracies. You can use a transversely stretched thread for these purposes.

Fastening Knauf plasterboard sheets

It is advisable that, in order to avoid the appearance of cracks, the sheets are fixed staggered with a longitudinal displacement of at least 30-40 cm. Each individual self-tapping screw must be screwed in, recessing it into the gypsum board by at least 1 mm. And a few more subtleties:

  • the end of each sheet must be placed in the middle of the CD profile;
  • all sheet ends that do not have a factory chamfer must be pre-processed with an edge plane at an angle of 22-45°;
  • first you need to mount all the whole sheets, and then you can move on to installing the fragments;
  • GCR fixation is carried out in increments of 10-15 cm;
  • After finishing fixing the drywall, all tile joints are carefully sealed using durable Knauf-Fugenfüller putty. A serpyanka mesh is laid on top of the putty layer in its wet state, the edges of which should overlap the joint with a margin of several centimeters. Typically, standard rolls 10 cm wide are used for these purposes. Protrusions of the mesh and layer of joint putty below the level of the ceiling plane are unacceptable.
