How to place a well and a septic tank on the site. Distance from the septic tank to the well: sanitary standards and requirements, device, tips from the masters. Basic requirements for placing a septic tank on the site

Alexei 03.11.2014 Septic tanks

Time outdoor toilets long gone. They were replaced by modern equipment that does not require such frequent pumping, and some models do not need it at all.

Today, most owners of private houses and summer cottages choose a septic tank on the site. This equipment is much more aesthetic, safe for the environment and does not require maintenance.

What are cleaning systems

Let's start our acquaintance with this equipment with its purpose. So, a septic tank is a sealed container used to collect and clean sewage. Depending on what material it is made of, they distinguish:

The first can be both monolithic and prefabricated from concrete rings. Although sometimes there are brick models.

But they are quite problematic to mount, so widespread such septic tanks were not received.

Watch the video, how it works:

Classification is carried out according to the following criteria:

  • the principle of operation;
  • Form;
  • Location.

According to the principle of action, they are distinguished: cumulative, with biological treatment and soil filtration.

According to their shape, they are divided into vertical and horizontal. And according to the method of location of the septic tank in this area there are:

  1. Surface;
  2. Underground.

There are also volatile and autonomous installations. Which one will be installed on your site depends on many factors. Typically, the model of a septic tank is selected taking into account the regulatory requirements for its installation.

What is fraught with the wrong location

soil freezing table

Since a septic tank is a reservoir where sewage accumulates and is cleaned, special requirements are placed on it. Before proceeding with the installation, you will have to complete the project and coordinate it with the SES. This will allow you to obtain permission to carry out installation work. However, only if the project fully complies with all standards for installing a septic tank in this area.

The main issue is the right site for the equipment. So, where on the site to place a septic tank? This is determined taking into account the current standards prescribed in:

  • SNiP 2.04.03-85;
  • Sanpin 2.2.1/2.1.1.1200-03.

They indicate the distances to water intakes, residential buildings and other objects. An important condition is compliance with the standards for the installation of a septic tank near the well with drinking water. After all, it is very important that the waste does not get into the water. Otherwise, it will not only lead to pollution, but also pose a threat to human health. There should be the maximum possible distance between the tank and the well. It is determined by the height of the layers between the aquifers and the soil used as a filter for treated effluents.

Installation norms

If there is no connection between them, then a gap of at least 20 m is allowed. This can be determined using hydrogeological studies. According to experts, light soils are considered the best natural filters. If you have such soil, then the gap between the septic tank is suburban area and the well should be more than 50 m.

Installation guidelines

The septic tank is built according to sanitary standards. It is they who regulate the location of the water pipes. So, according to regulatory requirements the gap between them and the sewer should be more than 10 m. Moreover, it is usually located lower than the well, so that in the event of a breakthrough, the effluent does not enter the water.

Between the treatment system and the house, the gap is also established in accordance with the regulations for the location of the septic tank at the SNiP site. It must be more than 5 m from the foundation. Then, when drains flow out of the septic tank, they will not wash the walls of the building, and the smell will not bother the residents.

We watch the video, the rule for the location of equipment:

However, the distance from the house to the treatment system should not be very large. This is due to the difficulty of ensuring the normal operation of a very long sewer pipeline. After all, blockages can occur in it, which will be quite difficult to remove with a large length. If you still have to design such a system, then for every 15 m you need to install 1 revision well.

The regulations also govern following rules septic installations:

  • The distance from your treatment system to the road is at least 5 m;
  • The fence that is installed between you and the neighbors, and the septic tank is allowed to leave 2 m.

Layout

In addition to the above rules, there are other regulatory locations of the septic tank on the site. So you need:

  • Plan installation on soft ground - this will facilitate the process of preparing the pit;
  • Provide convenient access to the well of the treatment system, as it will have to be cleaned of solid residues.

As you can see, the requirements for installing septic tanks in a summer cottage are quite simple and everyone should follow them. This will not only help to avoid accidents and environmental pollution, but also various diseases that can result from the ingress of sewage into drinking water.

Correct Distance

What should be paid attention to when arranging a treatment system? The main thing is where to start installation work- this is the preparation of the pit and trenches for pipes. Where to place the septic tank on the area of the site? Firstly, it is mounted below the freezing level, only then the system will be able to work year-round. If it is impossible to do this for some reason, then you will have to insulate the pipes with one of thermal insulation materials or install a heating cable.

If the pit is dug in clay or loam, then its bottom should have a concrete pad to which the storage tank is attached. This is necessary in order to avoid pushing out the septic tank when it is completely cleaned.

Filtration fields or a well must be equipped. But if the groundwater is high, then it is better to choose last option. The water level in the well is easier to control, and water can be pumped out of it if necessary.

Of course, it is allowed to install a septic tank with any soil, but it is better if it is dry and softer samples. This is due to the work on preparing the pit for equipment. In heavy soil, digging is much more difficult.

Watch the video, the nuances of installation:

Since the treatment systems are located underground, it is necessary to organize air exchange inside the tank. Microorganisms need oxygen for normal development and vital activity. So this point should also be taken into account when performing installation work.

Outcome

In our article, we examined all the basic requirements for the location of a septic tank in a summer cottage. Only strict adherence to them will make it possible to achieve comfortable conditions living outside the city.

After all, modern drains are saturated with various chemicals that have a detrimental effect on nature, which means they must be airtight. In addition, the efficiency and safety of its operation depends on the correct location of the septic tank on the site in accordance with existing standards. The more accurately all requirements are met, the less problems you will have with the maintenance of the treatment system.

Every suburban or country house must have its own sewer, but connection to the city sewer network, unfortunately, is not always possible. There is only one option left - the use of an autonomous sewer system with a septic tank, that is, with a special cleaning local facility, which is necessary for the collection and further treatment of wastewater.

But installing a septic tank is not so easy, and the point is not even the complexity of installation, but the choice of location. The fact is that special requirements are imposed on the installation of septic tanks, because some of them even form hazardous substances, for example, sulfuric gas or even methane. Almost all modern requirements for such treatment facilities are set out in federal law under number 52 - "On the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population." Also, the rules related to the choice of a place for installing a septic tank are in SanPiN 42-128-4690-88, as well as in SNiP 30-02-97. If you fully follow the instructions described there, then the septic tank will be accurately installed correctly. If the laws are violated, then administrative responsibility will certainly follow, and you should not forget that the comfort of living on the territory will also be violated.

Septic tank and requirements for its installation

Let's summarize the information contained in these documents and compile a list of all the rules regarding the installation of a septic tank.

  • From your country house or cottage, the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 5 meters. This rule is aimed at preventing errors when installing septic tanks. If you install a septic tank under the windows, then it will be almost impossible to open them, as there will be a sharp and bad smell. But you also need to know the measure, because with a remote location of the septic tank, there may also be problems associated with cleaning and installing sewer pipes.
  • From the fence connecting your site with the neighboring one, the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 2 meters. Situations when the smell from your septic tank reaches the neighbors happen, they definitely won’t like it, and you will be brought to administrative responsibility, as mentioned earlier, but troubles can be easily avoided if you follow the rules.
  • From the foundations of outbuildings (for example, sheds), the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 1 meter. This rule was introduced only because of possible unforeseen situations associated with the breakdown of a poor-quality septic tank.
  • From the water pipe, the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 10 meters. Such a huge restriction is introduced in order to accurately prevent the possible ingress of sewage into the water pipe. This can happen in the event of a violation of the sealing of pipes.
  • From trees or shrubs, the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 4 meters. This restriction was introduced to protect the environment from excessive moisture.
  • From an open reservoir, the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 30 meters. This restriction is also aimed at protecting the environment, or rather, water bodies from the possible ingress of sewage and pollutants in case of any unforeseen situations.
  • From sources drinking water(for example, from a well) the septic tank should be located at a distance of more than 50 meters. This restriction was introduced for a reason that is clear to everyone, but it can be avoided if the land on your site has low water permeability. But the chance that, for example, dense clays will lie on the site is extremely small, so you should focus on 50 meters.

Summing up

In addition to the obvious rules, it is also necessary to think about convenience. For example, we recommend measuring the direction of the wind, which is most common in summer. This is necessary in order not to accidentally install a septic tank on the windy side. Also consider access to a septic tank. The fact is that he will need constant maintenance, special cars will have to pass to him.

Owners country houses and dachas, who do not want to deprive themselves of urban comfort, install traditional baths, showers, washbasins, toilets and household appliances that makes life easier. However, to remove drains into the central sewer from all this variety of sanitary appliances and equipment in country house often fails due to the lack of such networks nearby. In this case, a septic tank comes to the rescue. Because this sewage plant cleans wastewater and dumps them into the ground, to choose a place for it and install it, you need to know the rules for installing a septic tank. Various norms are clearly described in SNiP and SanPiN.

A local sewage treatment plant, in which wastewater from the house is collected and treated, is called a septic tank. Most simple models of these treatment devices operate on the principle of settling wastewater and further decomposition of the sludge due to the activity of anaerobic organisms.

Usually, after such a device, the drains are not sufficiently cleaned. Sanitary standards prohibit the discharge of such effluents into the ground or open water, so wastewater needs additional treatment, which they pass through filtration fields or drainage wells.

Modern septic tanks for a private house are autonomous deep cleaning stations that use the mechanical and biological principles of wastewater treatment. Thanks to this, a high degree of wastewater purity is achieved, reaching 98-99%. Sanitary regulations allow such effluents to be discharged into open water bodies or the ground, since they do not pose a threat to the environment.

Important: in addition to the purity of wastewater, local treatment facilities are subject to other requirements for placement and installation.

Getting permission to install a septic tank

A septic tank is a device that poses a potential threat to the environmental situation. That is why the uncontrolled construction of such structures is prohibited. Before installing a treatment plant, it is necessary to develop a project, coordinate the location of the septic tank on the site in the SES and obtain a building permit.

At the same time, you will receive permission for installation on your site only if the project meets the requirements of SNiP and SanPiN. by the most important point the project is to place a treatment plant in a suburban area.

Attention: after obtaining approval from the SES, the installation and location of the septic tank on the site must be carried out exactly in accordance with the project. It is possible that the regulatory authorities will check the constructed treatment facility for compliance with the project.

Regulations

When planning the construction of a treatment plant for a private house, it is very important to take into account the requirements of the regulations. Only by observing these norms, you can be sure that there will be no problems when agreeing with the SES.

The device of a treatment plant on the territory of a country house must be carried out in compliance with the requirements of the following standards:

  • The main document that contains the basic requirements for the construction of septic tanks is SNiP number 2.04.03-85. It regulates the main points of the construction of external sewage networks and local treatment facilities.
  • If there is a well or a well on the territory of a country house or a country house, then the standard distances from the treatment facilities to sources of drinking water must be observed. These norms are regulated in SNiP number 2.04.01-85 and regulatory document number 2.04.04-84. They describe the requirements for the construction of internal and external communications of the water supply system.
  • In addition, many standard distances from the treatment device to other objects on the site are standardized by SanPiN number 2.1.5.980-00. Here are collected the rules governing the boundaries of security and sanitary zones around surface water bodies.
  • Another document that regulates sanitary and protective boundaries near objects that pose a potential threat to the environment is SanPiN number 2.2.1 / 2.1.1.1200-03.

Permissible distances from the septic tank to water sources

When choosing a place for a septic tank on a site, it is very important to observe the required distance to wells or wells, from where drinking water is supplied to houses. This will protect aquifers from pollution by sewage.

Important: although modern wastewater treatment plants are durable and hermetic structures, the possibility of depressurization or rupture of the pipeline cannot be completely ruled out. This can lead to contamination of drinking water and various diseases.

That is why, according to SNiP, the distance from the VOC to the water source is taken depending on the presence of filtering soil rocks between groundwater and soil, which is used for final post-treatment (filtration) of wastewater. To determine the composition of soils are used hydrogeological methods. This normalized gap can be like this:

  1. If there is no connection between the layers of soil, then the distance from the treatment plant to the septic tank can be at least 20 m.
  2. If soils with high filtering capacity are found (sandy, loamy or sandy loamy), then this distance increases to 50-80 m.
  3. At least 30 m retreat from open reservoirs with stagnant water to the septic tank. A gap of 10 m is observed from rivers and streams.

SNiP norms also regulate the distance from the water supply to the septic tank. This gap must be at least 10 m, so that in the event of a depressurization water pipes sewage could not get into drinking water.

Attention: at least important requirement, which must be observed when choosing a place for a septic tank, is that the VOC should be lower in the slope of the area than a well or well.

Normalized distances from buildings to a septic tank

  1. It is necessary to retreat at least 5 m from the foundation of a residential building to a local treatment plant. Such a gap is necessary for reasons of sanitary safety, and also due to the fact that some types of septic tanks emit an unpleasant odor. Modern biological treatment plants guarantee complete absence unpleasant smell. In some cases, it is allowed to place the treatment plant closer than five meters from the house.
  2. You should not install a septic tank at a great distance from the house, since with a pipeline length of more than 15 m, it is necessary to install revision wells to clear frequent blockages. Also in this case, it is difficult to provide the necessary slope of the sewer pipeline for its entry at the desired height into the treatment plant.

Worth knowing: when laying outdoor sewer networks revision wells are made for every 15 m of a straight pipeline, as well as at turns.

Distance from the edge of the plot

When placing a treatment plant, the safety of not only the owners of the site, but also the neighbors is taken into account. Therefore, when choosing a place for the construction of a septic tank, the following rules are followed:

  1. There should be at least 5 m from the road with heavy traffic to the treatment device. From the road that performs the functions of a driveway, the septic tank can be located at a distance of 2 m.
  2. There should be at least 2 m from the border of your site to the septic tank. This way you will avoid problems with neighbors on this issue.

Other requirements

When choosing a place for the construction of a septic tank, the following additional requirements are taken into account:

  • It is better to place the cleaning product on soft ground. So it will be easier for you to carry out earthworks, especially if everything is done manually.
  • If there are outbuildings on the site, at least 1 m recedes from their foundation to the septic tank. This way you will eliminate the risk of washing away the building when the treatment structure is depressurized.
  • Periodically, it is necessary to clean the chambers of the septic tank from accumulated sludge. The frequency of cleaning depends on the type of treatment plant. If you do this with the help of vacuum trucks, then a free access of equipment should be provided to the installation site of the septic tank.
  • Trees on the site should not grow closer than 3 m from the cleaning product, and shrubs can be planted at a distance of 1 m.
  • At least 5 m away from the gas pipeline.

To make life outside the city comfortable, you need to think over the water supply and sanitation system on the site. The choice of a place for draining sewage is especially important. It is planned taking into account the peculiarities of the terrain, as well as the location of wells and wells.

A septic tank is a reservoir in which sewage is collected and treated. Its device is carried out taking into account the norms approved at the state level and currently relevant - they are contained in SNiP 2.04.03-85 and Sanpin 2.2.1 / 2.1.1.1200-03. Only under this condition, the design of the septic tank will be agreed in the SES. Otherwise, the developer simply will not receive permission to install such equipment.

However, if we are talking about installing a septic tank in a country house where the family lives only a few months a year, it is not necessary to obtain permission to place such a structure in the BTI and the sanitary service. A permit is required for a house in which they live on a permanent basis.

Important! If there is no relevant document, the developer will have to pay a fine, while the autonomous sewer can be dismantled.

These are not just bureaucratic requirements, because if the septic tank is installed in violation of the norms, drains can enter the well with drinking water, which will lead to its pollution or even infection. The distance between the septic tank and the well or well should be the highest value for the conditions of this site. For its calculation, the height of the layers of aquifers is taken into account.

What factors affect the location of a septic tank? This is the type of septic tank (other rules apply for storage tanks and stations with biological treatment), the number of facilities to be serviced, the composition of the soil, the terrain, the frequency of maintenance of the structure by sewers. It is also worth considering the predominant wind direction (mainly due to smell), the proximity of natural water bodies and other factors. And such complexity of calculations is one of the reasons why you need to entrust the design of an autonomous sewer to a professional.

What are the regulations for a septic tank?

When determining the location for the location of the septic tank, the rules are taken into account:

  • the cleaning device must be separated from the road by at least 5 m,
  • a similar restriction is set for the segment separating the septic tank from the foundation of a residential building - at least 5 m, then even if the drains accidentally start to flow out, they will not wash away the walls of the building, and there is no smell in this arrangement,
  • the distance from the septic tank to the fence that delimits the developer's site from the neighbor's - 2 m,
  • the installation depth of the septic tank should be lower than the depth of the well, so that in the event of an accidental breakthrough, all this waste would not pollute the drinking water.

Important! When determining all these distances, not only the body of the septic tank itself is taken into account, but also the areas of soil adjacent to it with filtration fields, since they are also part of the treatment system.

Fig. 1 The layout of the septic tank on the site

If the distance between the house and the septic tank is too large, this will require a more expensive pipeline. The work is complicated by the fact that a revision well is arranged for every 15 m.

When constructing an autonomous sewage system, the location of its other elements must also be taken into account. For example, a filter well should be no closer than 8 m to a residential building or outbuilding.

Rice. 2 Installation diagram of a septic tank relative to the well

It is also important to consider where the septic tank will be located in relation to drinking water intake points. In this case, even the most stringent requirements are imposed on the choice of location, since if untreated wastewater accidentally enters drinking water, the consequences can be simply catastrophic from the point of view of the epidemiological situation. According to sanitary standards, the septic tank and other described elements must be located at a distance of at least 30 m from the well (its location will be described below). This requirement also applies to open natural and artificial reservoirs, with the exception of rivers (there flowing waters, and the allowable distance is reduced to 10 m).

However, if there are soils on the site that in themselves have good filtering characteristics, then this distance increases to 50 m.

Important! To install a septic tank, it is better to choose a site with soft soil in order to reduce the cost of digging the pit.

For a septic tank, it is important that there is free space around in order to provide free access to equipment that pumps water.

When looking for a place to locate a septic tank, you should consider:

  • level of occurrence ground water. This indicator should be at least 1.5 m. If they pass higher, then it will be necessary to equip a ground platform for filtration. The best option septic tank devices with enough high level the occurrence of groundwater is the installation of the so-called sealed eurocube with its binding to a concrete base slab,
  • sump chambers should be located below the freezing level of the soil. Then they can be used throughout the year,
  • it is advisable to select a place not only with soft, but also with dry soil,
  • although according to the standards, the distance to the neighboring site should be at least 2 m, it is even worth increasing it, this will help prevent quarrels that will inevitably begin if the neighbors decide that they are worried about the smell,
  • the septic tank should not be installed next to trees. The distance between them should be at least 3 m. This is necessary not so much for the sewer itself, but for the plants, since their roots can be very sensitive to sewer fumes. And from an excess of moisture in the filtration fields, they can begin to rot.

When constructing a septic tank, the terrain is always taken into account. In no case should the site for it be in a lowland, since liquid will accumulate there all the time with every heavy rain or when snow melts. But the highest point of the site will not work either, because drains simply will not flow there.

The depth of soil freezing is also important in the design. Data on this indicator for some of the regions are presented in the table.

Although the above standards are valid throughout the country, the local authorities have the right to introduce additional restrictions, the presence of which must be clarified when designing a septic tank.

Choosing a location for drilling a well

In order to find a suitable place for a well, they turn to a drilling company. Her employees do comparative analysis aquifers suitable for the device autonomous water supply, select a place for a well, install a borehole pump and filters that purify water. In addition, they have hydrogeological data on the underground waters of the area in which the construction work is being carried out.

The well is positioned so that there is a distance of at least 15 m between it and the toilet or septic tank. In addition, the distance from the foundation of the house is taken into account - at least 3 m.

Important! To drill a well, a working platform of approximately 3x8 m in size is vacated, and a drive-in is provided. This will be required in the future, for equipment maintenance.

The site for the well is chosen so that there is free space above it, without peaks, hanging wires, etc. It is desirable that there is enough space nearby for a temporary sump. Then, if necessary, they will equip a platform where tools and maintenance equipment can be stored.

If the territory of the site does not meet the requirements of SNiP

It happens that on small plot it is impossible to arrange all objects in such a way as to fulfill the requirements of SNiP. In this case, you need to look for an alternative to the septic tank. It can be a storage tank. Its dimensions depend on the number of people living in the house, as well as on the intensity of water consumption. Although the sealed waste tank itself is inexpensive, you will have to spend quite a lot of money on the services of vacuum trucks.

Another alternative option is to purchase a biological plant with complete water purification (for example, the Unilos Astra septic tank). They do not require space for filtering fields, so the requirements for them are less stringent. The disadvantages of such a system are its high cost and energy dependence, since electricity is required for its full functioning.

Editorial opinion

So that when installing a septic tank, you do not have to solve the problems listed above, you need to plan all the elements of the sewer from the very beginning, at the stage of site selection and design of a residential building. If a modern treatment system is installed on a site where all residential and outbuildings have already been erected, find correct location for a septic tank will be much more difficult. In any case, the solution to this problem should be left to specialists who know all the intricacies of designing such systems and the requirements of SNiP.

When equipping treatment facilities in a private household (in a country house or a suburban courtyard), one should not forget that they are potentially hazardous to the environment. Therefore, when building, you should take into account the instructions normative documents, such as SNiP on the location of the septic tank on the site, otherwise we are guaranteed problems with neighbors and sanitary and epidemiological services.

Below we will look at the precautions to be taken when building a purifier.

Design features

To understand why it is so important to choose the right location for such an installation on the site, let's start with the basics:

  • Such designs can hardly be called full-fledged filters. They purify sewage by no more than 60%, and therefore it is necessary to strive to minimize the harm caused by sewage waste to soil and groundwater.
  • Industrial septic tanks allow you to purify fecal water by 99%. They are more complex in design: in addition to gravitational settling, anaerobic (oxygen-free) fermentation is used for purification, during which organic matter is decomposed by bacteria.
  • A feature of ready-made cleaning structures is also the volatility of some models. In complex devices, the flow of liquid from tank to tank occurs due to compressors that require electricity. This additional factor it is also necessary to take into account when deciding where to place the septic tank on the site.

Choose a position

Analysis of potential threats

The main environmental hazards that arise when installing a septic tank:

  • Ingress of waste into the ground due to leaks in containers or connections with sewer pipes.
  • Effluent entering The groundwater due to the proximity of the septic tank to aquifers.
  • Pollution of the site due to the overflow of waste from tanks during floods or prolonged absence of sludge pumping.
  • Flooding of buildings in violation of the integrity of containers.
  • Ingress of liquid waste into wells.

To avoid these problems, it is necessary to take seriously the location of the septic tank. Also, when building septic tanks with your own hands, you should pay attention Special attention to the depth of installation of containers and the thoroughness of sealing seams and joints.

The main questions when choosing a place will be the following:

  • How far should the mechanism be located from the house and other buildings?
  • How to correlate the location of the well and the septic tank on the site?
  • What distance should be to trees, beds or flower beds?
  • How far from neighboring areas should containers be placed?

Also, do not forget about the rules for the installation and installation of a septic tank, which will help to save in the future environment from pollution.

Regulations for the location of the treatment plant

Today, a single official instruction for the installation and placement of septic tanks has not yet been developed.

We list only a few documents, the instructions of which should be taken into account before placing a septic tank on the site:

  • SNiP 2.04.03-85, which describes the procedure for constructing sewer networks.
  • SNiP 2.04.02-84, which regulates all the details of the water supply process.
  • SNiP 2.04.01-85. dated 1986-07-01 - contains requirements for plumbing communications.
  • SanPiN 2.1.5.980-00 - regulates the sanitary protection of surface water sources.
  • SanPin 2.2.1/2.1.1.1200-03 - defines the procedure for creating and the boundaries of sanitary zones.

Septic tank and living quarters

So, let's start from the very beginning. The first question arises as to how far the purifier should be placed from the house. Naturally, the cheapest way would be to place the unit right against the wall: the main waste drain comes from the house, and the farther the mechanism is retracted, the longer the drain laid to it.

However, the price should not play decisive role in planning:

  • The distance from the residential building to the treatment plant must be at least 5 meters (if you count from the foundation of the building).
  • Installing a septic tank at a closer distance is fraught with the possibility of flooding the foundation when emergency or when the snow melts.
  • Moreover, one should not forget about bad smell, which, when placed close, will fall into the house.
  • The distance to household, non-residential buildings according to the regulations is 1 meter.

  • Another standard requires that there be at least 10 meters between the pipes of the septic tank and the water supply.

Note! From trees, shrubs and flower beds, the device should be taken at least 4 meters. Otherwise, the roots will rot and the plants will get poisoned by chemical sewage waste.

Septic tank and neighboring facilities

Before calculating the distance from the septic tank to the neighboring site, you should remember all of the above: the neighbors also have a residential building, flower beds and underground utilities. So all rules remain in effect. It should only be added that the treatment plant should be installed no closer than two meters from the border with the neighboring site.

The smallest allowable distance of the cleaner from the road or track should not be less than 5 meters. On the other hand, do not forget that the containers need to be cleaned periodically, which means that there must be at least some kind of access road to them.

The location of the septic tank and the well on the site is one of the main construction parameters, because the contamination of wells can turn into a real environmental disaster on a local scale:

  • The distance from the cleaner to the well is determined in each case separately, since it is necessary to take into account the composition of the soil, the relationship between the filtering and aquifers of the soil.

  • The minimum should be 25 m, the maximum (with the predominance of sand or loam in the soil) - about 80 meters.
  • From the well to the filtration device, a distance of at least 50 meters must be laid.

Advice! If the terrain allows, for additional protection, we place the treatment plant downhill from the water intake points - this way we reduce the risk of toxins entering drinking and irrigation water.

Conclusion

Correctly using the information received, we will be able to calculate the distance from the septic tank to the border of the site, to residential premises and sources of drinking water. This will help us avoid problems with SES, neighbors, and greatly simplify our country life ().

The video in this article describes the process of choosing a place in more detail, so it's worth carefully studying it before you start!
