Finnish sauna stoves must have a name. Russian bathhouse and Finnish bathhouse. Stoves with helical smoke circuits

By purchasing models of Finnish sauna stoves, you are purchasing high-quality, productive and durable equipment for the steam room. The main thing is to know the criteria for choosing heaters and best models.

Collapse

In baths and saunas, many steam lovers install Finnish sauna stoves using wood and electricity. The high price compared to Russian analogues is compensated by best characteristics heater. When choosing equipment, consider the main criteria and leading manufacturers.

Features of heaters

Designs vary depending on the installation location. Finnish companies produce equipment for saunas and Russian steam rooms.

For sauna

For such devices, the heating speed of the steam room is important. The convection method is used. Cold air, passing near the walls of the heater, it heats up, and the heat spreads faster and evenly throughout the steam room.

For this purpose, Finnish electric sauna stoves and wood-burning heaters are made with an outer casing. The movement of cold masses occurs all the time fuel is burned and surfaces are cooled.

But when equipping a sauna with such a device, you will need to install protective screens to protect wooden surfaces from deformation during heating.

There are several ways to reduce the impact of severe heat transfer:

  1. The main one is arranging the stoves with nets with stones. Most of these devices are configured in this way.
  2. When covering surfaces with facing stone slabs, the protection reliably protects a person from burns and distributes heat evenly throughout the room. The only negative is the high price. The cost starts from 100,000 rubles and above.

For the bath

Finnish traditional round sauna stoves and rectangular shape work reliably in Russian bath conditions. Such heaters should create a special atmosphere in the steam room. Therefore, the design of sauna heaters differs from sauna units.

The temperature should rise no higher than 60 0 -70 0, but the steam should fill the entire steam room. Russian people love this kind of bathhouse. But the steam should not be wet and heavy like in a hammam bath.

In a Russian bath it should be almost invisible, creating a slight mist in the steam room. Therefore, it is important not to increase the temperature in the steam room, but to quickly warm up the grid with stones. This feature required the construction of a closed heater, which is located in the body immediately above the combustion chamber. To fill the water, a special pipe with a metal watering can is installed.

To create a fragrant park in the bathhouse, a small open heater is placed on top. Now you can splash out a few ladles with a decoction of herbs and enjoy the “delicious” steam. Regardless of the installation location, stoves must be selected taking into account several basic characteristics. Let's look at them in more detail.

Choosing a Finnish sauna stove

Picking up best option Finnish cast iron stoves for a bath or made of heat-resistant steel, you will need to familiarize yourself with several characteristics:

  1. Rated power. Remember the rule - for every 1 m ", you will need to increase the power by 1 kW. You can buy heaters with a small reserve. But purchasing a powerful unit for a small steam room will not only lead to unnecessary waste of money, but also to possible deformation of the wall covering from high temperature or fire. A low-power stove with a small firebox will quickly fail, so it is important to maintain a happy medium.
  2. Manufacturer company. If you are offered to buy equipment worth 40,000 rubles for 5,000, you should not continue talking with such a seller. You are being offered stolen equipment or a low-grade fake. Always check the quality certificates and the availability of documents on the stove with factory markings and holograms.
  3. Availability of a tank for heating water. If necessary, it is better to pay a little more and buy a remote tank, with which you can use heated water in the washroom. To wash 1 person you will need 10-15 liters of water.
  4. Availability and material of the grate. A part with small distances between the grates will allow you to use coal for heating. But the main purpose of the grate is to protect the bottom from exposure to high temperatures and gradually remove the ash into a separate chamber. Best material– cast iron or heat-resistant steel.
  5. Firebox material and design. It is better to use the remote option. In this case, you will not need to take up space in the steam room or breathe smoke. To produce the combustion chamber, it is better to use heat-resistant steel, stainless steel or cast iron. But the price of such a stove will increase by 20-30%.

Everyone knows that the people of Finland simply love to take a steam bath. Well, they have everything for this. Finnish baths are very popular all over the world. But half of the entire bathhouse is a stove, thanks to which the room is heated and filled with steam. Ideal option for a steam room you can call it a wood-burning stove. It is much more profitable and convenient. In Russia, Finnish wood-burning stoves are quite popular for baths, especially from Harvia. They are made from thin metal, with increased resistance to heat and excellent thermal conductivity. Due to this, wood stoves heat the room evenly soft warmth, which, in turn, lasts for a long time. This makes Finnish wood stoves economical and with increased efficiency. It is also pleasing that in the manufacture of “Harvia”, “Helo” or “Kastor” stoves, much attention is paid to environmental friendliness: the material of the stoves, the technology of burning wood, which reduces the emission of carbon dioxide into the external environment.

As practice shows, sauna stoves from Finland have the most best quality, they are practical, durable and easy to use. Our manufacturers are trying to make analogues of wood-burning sauna stoves "Harvia" or "Kastor", but they are still far from the original. Let's take a closer look at the operating principle of wood-burning sauna stoves, their design and popular varieties.

How Finnish stoves work

All models, be it "Harvia" or "Helo", have almost the same operating principle. The stove is based on a slightly improved heater design. How does a Finnish stove heat a sauna?

  1. The firebox of the Harvia stove is located at the bottom of the body. Often all models are made this way. An ash pit is located under the firebox.
  2. When the wood in the firebox ignites, thermal energy is released. This, in turn, rises upward through a curved smoke removal system. There are stones at the base of the heater, which heat up to a high temperature.
  3. Conventional standard designs have a chimney that runs through the center of the heater. Thanks to it, the stones warm up additionally.
  4. Some models, for example, "Harvia 20 ES Pro", are equipped with a mounted tank for heating water. It can be installed either on the chimney itself or hung next to the stove.

In order to choose the right stove for a wood-burning sauna, you need to know the area of the steam room. The larger it is, the more powerful the equipment should be. The power of the stove depends on the capacity of the heater. The amount of thermal energy and steam released will depend on how many more stones are placed there.

Design of Harvia sauna stoves

Finnish wood-burning stoves may have the same operating principle, but differ in appearance and design. Yet, despite some differences, they all have a standard set of basic components. Let's talk about them. The figure below shows a diagram of the Harvia stove.

Manufacturers of Finnish wood-burning sauna stoves focus on quality, appearance and ease of use. Many "Harvia" or "Kastor" models have a compact size, thanks to which you can install the equipment even in the smallest bathhouse.

Selection criteria

If you decide to buy Harvia products or any other, then you need to know what to look for when purchasing. Agree that the quality of your relaxation in the bathhouse depends on how well you make the right choice. Therefore, when purchasing, you should pay attention to:

  • power;
  • company;
  • presence of a grate;
  • heater size;
  • type of firebox;
  • tank for heating water.

Correctly calculating the power of the heater is the key to high-quality heating. A heater that is too large is not recommended, as all the stones will not be able to heat up properly. And when insufficient quantities stones, the fire will have to be maintained constantly, increasing the load on the firebox. This will result in shorter operating time. You need to know the golden mean.

As for the manufacturer, you need to be wary of fakes. Since there is equipment made “using Finnish technology”, but not of Finnish origin. They are similar to the original, but cost 2-3 times cheaper. Give preference to well-known brands such as Harvia.

The grate is a very important and necessary part of the furnace. Unlike gas, after burning wood, coals remain. They smolder and give off tremendous heat. And thanks to the grate, they will be level and provide their warmth. This way you can significantly save on resources.

Pay attention! If you plan to use coal, then the grate is simply irreplaceable. But if you make do with only firewood, then it is not necessary. Then the logs will burn 10 or 15% better.

What to choose from

What can you choose from when it comes to specific models? We have made a selection of photos for you, which presents the best models of the Harvia company.

Why are wood stoves so good? Firstly, they are quite economical. With a small amount of firewood, the unit produces quite large number thermal energy. Based on consumer reviews, the steam room will warm up to 80˚C in just 60 minutes. Secondly, the models have effective system air circulation. This is why briquettes or firewood are used so economically. The result is uniform heat distribution and excellent dry steam. This is all you need for a comfortable stay in the steam room and relaxation.

In addition, the modern and beautiful appearance of the stove is pleasing to the eye. That's why they are in such demand. Well, the most important thing is the build quality, material and thoughtful design. Thanks to the combination of these characteristics, the equipment will last for many years.

Advice! When heating Finnish saunas, it is recommended to use dry hardwood firewood. Raw materials with resins negatively affect the operation of the furnace, as a large amount of soot is released. So you will have to clean the chimney more often. If you don't do this, the equipment won't last long.

Conclusion

To summarize, we can say that stoves from Finland are an example of thoughtfulness, durability, reliability and quality. We can say with confidence that the efficiency of the equipment is the highest. In addition, the models are easy to use, economical, compact and have a chic appearance. And any man can perform the installation, without the involvement of a specialist. Therefore, if you decide to buy a wood-burning stove for your sauna, then you won’t find anything better than Finnish products!

A Finnish bath is also called a sauna. Its peculiarity is that the air in the steam room is heated not by the stove, but by the stones, which give off their heat to the air. After the firebox is well melted and the stones are very hot, they are doused with cold water. As a result, dry steam is formed, which fills the steam room with a pleasant aroma. Sometimes decoctions are used instead of water essential oils or fragrant herbs, then the bathhouse is filled with healing air that cures various diseases. The most popular Finnish sauna stoves are wood-burning and electric.

General information about Finnish saunas

Many people believe that Finnish baths and saunas are wonderfully relaxing and raise vitality, heal mental wounds. However, before visiting a Finnish bath or sauna, you should consult with your doctor about how to proceed so that the bath brings benefits and not harm. The air temperature in the steam room can reach +120 degrees, and this can have a bad effect on hypertensive patients or people with heart disease.

Traditional Finnish saunas consist of the following rooms:

Modern Finnish saunas make do with only three rooms: a locker room, a steam room and a shower. The sauna stove is installed in the wall between the locker room and the steam room.

Advantages of a Finnish wood-burning stove

The most popular option for a Finnish bath or sauna today are wood heaters with the following advantages:

The wood-burning stove in the Finnish sauna has the following design:

  • Firebox, designed for fuel combustion. Many visitors to the steam room like the stove door made of fire-resistant glass. Contemplating fire is very relaxing and calms the nerves.
  • Cast iron grate represents the part of the furnace on which coals smolder. Its main task is to supply air to support the combustion of the lower layers of logs.
  • Ash pan is a chamber of a wood-burning stove in which ash accumulates. Stoves in modern baths are instead equipped with a drawer, from which waste is thrown out easily and quickly.
  • Kamenka, usually of large volume, made in the form of a pyramidal tray. It contains stones that heat up and, when water is poured over them, fill the steam room with hot steam.
  • Chimney removes carbon monoxide and combustion products from the room.

Electric oven

To obtain dry steam in a Finnish sauna recently Electric ovens began to be used. Modern models have become much more functional and easier to use.

The electric heater for the Finnish sauna has the following design:

  1. Electric heater
  2. Frame
  3. Thermal insulation

Electric stove outside covered metal plates 4 mm thick. Inside them are located ventilation ducts. The body of the unit is filled with stones of large size and weight, due to which the room will warm up much faster. Steel screens located one behind the other are used as thermal insulation.

An electric stove designed for a Finnish sauna can be used even in apartments. Its installation does not require a large area, and poisoning carbon monoxide comes down to zero. Modern design electric oven allows it to fit into any interior.

When choosing an electric model for a bath or sauna, you should focus on its power. If it is too large, setting the optimal temperature in the steam room will be quite difficult and the costs of its operation will increase. The power of the electric model is too weak will not allow you to heat the bathhouse properly.

Advantages of an electric heater for a bath or sauna

The electric sauna heater has the following advantages:

Using an electric heater will rid the steam room of dust and debris. The microclimate in the bathhouse can be adjusted using the remote control, so the temperature is set very accurately. Modern electric models equipped with timers and other automation that allows you to monitor any changes in the microclimate in the bathhouse or sauna.

Today there is a wide variety of stoves for Finnish saunas. At making the right choice And necessary operation Both wood-burning and electric heaters can last a very long time.

Solving the heating issue for a dacha, on modern market you can find many options.

Finnish wood stove for a summer house

And, despite the fact that new technologies are improving more and more every year, many still prefer the good old wood-burning stoves.

Today it is not just a heating device, but also a special decorative element that allows you to give the overall style of the house a certain “zest” and authenticity.

Among the huge selection of heating appliances presented on the domestic market, Finnish stoves occupy a significant share.

The Finnish stove for a summer residence is a reasonable, compact and effective solution, which allows you to quickly warm up the room and maintain the required temperature for a long time. What is the peculiarity of the design, and what characteristics should you choose a Finnish stove for your dacha - we will talk in this article.

For Russia, the Finnish stove design is the most suitable precisely because of the similarity of the climate. In the countries of Northern Scandinavia, the issue of heating is approached especially carefully, so when choosing a heating device from Finnish manufacturers, you can be sure of its high quality and efficiency. In addition to efficient heating of the room, the Finns also pay attention to the degree of air humidity, because a comfortable stay in the house and people’s health depend on this.

The operating principle of an ordinary Russian stone stove and a “finka” are almost identical. The room is heated by heating the body of the stone structure due to the combustion of wood.

For the manufacture of solid fuel heating devices, many Finnish manufacturers mainly use heat-resistant steel with thick walls. This allows you to instantly warm up the room and retain heat for a long time. Finnish companies also pay a significant role to design. The compactness and ergonomics of the devices allows them to be used even in small rooms, organically fitting into modern design Houses.

The safety of the device is ensured by a closing door made of fire-resistant cast iron or heat-resistant glass. This prevents coals and sparks from falling out and allows you to admire the beautiful flickering of the fire in the stove.

Design and features of a Scandinavian stove

The design of a Finnish stove consists of four main elements:

  1. Chimney.
  2. Firebox.
  3. Lining.
  4. Kamenka.
  5. Blower (ash pan).

The operating principle is not much different from a conventional wood stove. Firewood is placed in the firebox.

An ash pan (or ash pit) is a small chamber in which ash collects. The chimney ensures the removal of combustion products from the room, and the lining is a fire-resistant shell made of stone or steel, which allows heat to be accumulated. The lining plays a special role in this design. It is precisely this that is designed to provide heat accumulation and protect the device from mechanical and chemical damage.

A design feature of the Scandinavian stove can also be called the combustion channel. The device has two channels that are not interconnected. This allows you to increase the rate of heating of the room, increasing the efficiency of solid fuel consumption.

The ash pan is equipped with a retractable structure and a door, which allows for regular cleaning of the device. The door also helps regulate draft, creating the necessary air circulation.

The heater comes in two types in Finnish stoves: open and closed design and, depending on the model, can hold from 20 to 100 kg of fuel.

A distinctive feature of this furnace is the absence of a water circuit. The room is heated by thermal convection. Cold air is taken in from the floor, and then, when heated, the air rises. Thus it happens natural circulation cold and hot air flows in the room. To transfer heat into the room, the Finnish stove has special air channels through which heat flows from the firebox into the room.

Advantages of a Scandinavian stove

  • uniform air heating;
  • safety;
  • simplicity of design;
  • high warm-up speed;
  • magnificent appearance;
  • long service life;
  • the use of wood as the main type of fuel;
  • fuel efficiency;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • maintaining the required humidity in the room.

It is on environmental friendliness that I would like to place special emphasis, since the Finns pay great attention to the environment in the country. By producing heating devices, they achieve maximum emissions reduction harmful substances during the combustion process of wood. In addition, the solid fuel used in such stoves does not pose any threat to human health, which cannot be said about diesel or gas heating devices.

It is the choice of raw materials for the furnace that determines the efficiency of the device. The Finns are very careful when it comes to heating, so engineers play a big role in preserving heat inside the structure when the wood is smoldering.

However, Finns pay no less attention to safety. Considering that such wood-burning appliances are mainly purchased for wooden country houses, cottages and bathhouses, manufacturers maximize the fire safety of structures. This is achieved by laying a ceramic cord between all connections of the device. This, in turn, increases the tightness of the furnace and allows you to retain thermal energy for as long as possible.

Another advantage of such designs is the versatility of the parts. If any element or part fails over time, it can always be ordered and installed separately. Many models will accept parts from other manufacturers, so breaking and replacing parts won't be too much of a problem in the future.

Despite all the advantages of Finnish solid fuel heating devices, there are also several disadvantages that you should be aware of before purchasing. The disadvantage of such furnaces is their long heating time and the need to build a solid foundation. And, of course, it wouldn’t hurt to talk about the price of the issue. After all, from domestic manufacturers you can find high-quality, reliable analogues at a much lower cost.

How to choose the right Finnish stove for your cottage

A wide range of models from Finnish manufacturers presented on the domestic market allows you to choose a wood-burning stove not only for heating your dacha, but also for cooking, heating water, and just admiring the fire. To make it easier for you to decide on purchasing a Finnish stove for your country house, we suggest familiarizing yourself with the main selection criteria.

  1. Power.

The choice of this criterion is determined by the overall cubic capacity of the room. To do this, we make simple mathematical calculations: we multiply the area of the room by the height of the ceilings. In addition, make a “margin” for the thermal insulation of the house. After all, the worse it is insulated, the more powerful the device you will need. Keep in mind that every doorway and window increases heat loss by 100 watts. If the dacha is located in a climate zone with severe winters, then multiply the resulting figure by 1.5-2 units.

  1. Operating time in temperature maintenance mode. Pay attention to the material from which the product body is made. This parameter depends on this factor. As a standard, solid fuel must be added to the firebox every 8-10 hours. But some models lined with volcanic stone can retain heat for 20-24 hours. Today you can find wood heating appliances on sale. long burning. These models are equipped with fireproof glass door which ensures maximum tightness. Due to the fact that oxygen does not enter the firebox, the burning intensity of the flame increases significantly.

  1. Size. One of the main criteria for choosing a Finnish stove for a summer house here will be the width of the firebox. Diameter heating device with a capacity of 100 kcal/hour must be at least 12 cm. The maximum permissible level is 50 cm.
  2. Additional designs.

It all depends on the purpose for which you are purchasing a stove for your summer house. If you want to limit its functionality to just heating, then it will be enough for you simple models equipped with one firebox. If wider functional use is expected, then you can take a closer look at models with a flat hob, which is located in the upper part of the stove.

Some models come with a water heating tank, which is installed directly in the stove body. Or you can look for a model with hinged type device that is mounted on the chimney.

  1. Appearance. If cast iron and steel are not your thing, then you can choose stoves whose body is made of soapstone. This stone was traditionally used as building material among the Scandinavian peoples, due to its unique properties. This is a type of stone cladding that not only has a magnificent appearance, but also does not heat up above 70 degrees. This significantly increases the comfort of use and safety in the home. Talkomagnesite conducts heat 10 times faster than fireclay bricks or ceramics, which means that with a much smaller oven, it will warm up the room faster.

One more natural material, which Finnish manufacturers began to use in solid fuel stoves, is soap chlorite. It is highly resistant to temperature, withstanding up to 16 thousand 0 C. Furnaces made of soapstone can heat up in just 2 hours, while they continue to give off heat to the room for another day after being turned off. The only caveat is that the effectiveness of a device made of such material largely depends on its size. To achieve high heating efficiency, manufacturers produce models large sizes, which significantly affect their price.

  1. Manufacturer. On Russian market There is a huge variety of wood heating appliances from Finland. All of them differ not only in price, design, but also in technical characteristics.

The company offers two options for stone processing: grinding and chipping, which allows you to select the desired model according to the design and successfully fit it into the style of the interior.

How to install and connect a Finnish stove to a chimney

Connecting the stove to the chimney in the house is carried out according to standard scheme. If the house already has a system for removing combustion products, then connecting a Finnish stove to it will not cause any difficulties. If you need to install a chimney under a purchased stove, then it can be made from sandwich pipes. Strict adherence to installation rules guarantees safety and efficiency further use Scandinavian oven.

  • The rules for installing the structure are largely determined by the furnace model. Therefore, please read the instructions carefully before proceeding with installation.
  • Follow the rules of SNiP 2.04.05-91, which clearly regulate fire safety indoors when installing solid fuel appliances.
  • Mount the stove structure only on a flat surface.
  1. We decide on the location. If the house already has a chimney, then the location is, of course, given. In the case of a new heating system, you can choose any location to place the stove. The choice largely depends on the gas exhaust system (you must take into account the particular construction of the house, floors and roofing).

If the main task of the stove will be to heat the room, then it is recommended to place it in the center of the room. If you choose a model with additional parameters (hob etc.), then it would be advisable to install the stove in the corner of the room. The ideal option is to locate the heating device on the wall opposite the entrance. There is an option to install the stove in one room and bring the firebox through the wall into another. But this is a very long, labor-intensive process that requires qualifications.

  1. Arrangement of the foundation for the furnace. Given the very heavy weight of the structure, you need to carefully prepare the base. The floor under the stove is laid out with fireclay refractory bricks or ceramic tiles. Be sure to check the slope of the floor with a building level. It must be perfect.

An excellent solution for arranging a foundation for wooden dacha serves as a podium made of ceramic tiles. The refractory base must protrude beyond the dimensions of the stove by at least 10 cm on all sides. To do this, take fireclay bricks (the quantity depends on the dimensions of the furnace itself) and lay them out in an even row in one layer. Use regular cement mortar for connecting bricks. After drying, apply glue to the tiles. This option will allow you to raise the stove above the general floor level, increasing fire safety measures and creating decorative zoning for this part.

  1. Any fireproof coating can be laid on the foundation. Suitable for this purpose metal sheet, tempered glass, ceramics.

  1. We strictly adhere to fire safety parameters: the distance from the wall to the stove must be at least 125 cm. From the ceiling to the top of the heating device - from 120 cm. Additionally, take into account the material from which the walls in the house are made. For wooden floors Stricter standards and distances have been established. Additionally, a sheet of non-combustible material (superisol) is installed between the stove and the nearest wall. If you want to play it safe and further enhance fire safety in your home, you can install a ceramic apron around the stove. Moreover, the huge selection of materials on the market will help you do this beautifully, harmoniously fitting such a detail into the overall style of the room.

  1. A heat-reflecting screen is installed between the back of the structure and the wall. First, sheets of heat-resistant material, and then everything is covered with ceramic tiles on top. If you want to preserve the pristine wooden wall and don't use ceramic tiles, then you can cover the heat-reflecting screen with a sheet of OSB. After installing it, you need to apply thermal insulation material. To glue tiles to the wall, use only heat-resistant adhesive.

  1. Installation of the furnace on the foundation. Check the oven's inclination with a level before connecting to the system.

  1. After the structure is installed on the podium, it is necessary to begin connecting it to the chimney. If the gas exhaust system was already in the house initially, then your task now will be correct connection stove pipe with chimney structure. Here, great attention must be paid to sealing all connections. Otherwise, smoke from combustion will go into the house.

The first structural element will be one wall pipe (even if you have selected sandwich pipes as the material for the entire chimney). The fact is that when leaving the oven, the maximum temperature will melt the insulation inside the double contour of the sandwich, compressing it into a monolithic material.

Important! Keep in mind that the first part of the chimney structure is installed without insulation. Otherwise, it will melt during prolonged burning.

When connecting the structure of the stove to the chimney, take into account fire standards. The distance between the pipe and the wall of the house should not be less than 25 cm.

If the installation of a stove and chimney in a house is happening for the first time, then it is better to install the chimney after purchasing the heating device itself. The fact is that the length, diameter of pipes, etc. often depends on the power of the device.

The outlet of the chimney (through the roof or through the wall) depends on the layout of the house and the location of the stove. The sandwich structure is sold ready-made. All that remains is to put it together correctly, supplementing it with adapters, tees and splitters.

In this article we have described in detail only one of possible options installation of a Finnish stove at the dacha. To make it easier for you to choose the optimal model and install it in your home, we suggest you watch the video.

The main attribute of a Russian bath is the stove, because its power determines how quickly the steam room can be heated, as well as how long it will function properly. The varieties of Finnish wood-burning sauna stoves will be discussed further in the material.

Wood stoves made in Finland are widely represented on the market along with products from domestic manufacturers. However, Finnish wood-burning sauna stoves have a number of significant differences. In particular, we are talking about the composition of the metal for such products.

Finnish stoves are made of more expensive metals; they contain more chromium, which makes these products more heat-resistant, reliable and durable. And although such products are much more expensive, the price corresponds to their quality.

Manufacturers of Finnish wood stoves

However, such ovens are designed to heat air to high temperatures with relatively low humidity. This type of steam room is called a Finnish sauna, because that’s how they prefer to steam. At the same time, not so long ago Finnish wood-burning stoves for baths began to be produced, which are capable of creating a microclimate that is inherent specifically in Russian baths.

It is worth noting that such popularity of Finnish stoves is associated not only with their quality, but also with low competition from Russian manufacturers.

Each of the Finnish wood stove manufacturers has its own personal signature, that is, certain functions that no one else has. Moreover, they are all equally high quality and reliable.

Kastor Company (Castor)

The Finnish manufacturer Castor produces furnace bodies made of refractory alloys, the wall thickness of which is 5-8 mm. At the same time, the efficiency of such a Finnish sauna stove reaches 70% - this is the highest figure among all companies.

In addition, the ovens are equipped with a ventilation and filtration system, as well as protective guards so that a person cannot accidentally get burned.

Harvia company (Harvia)

Despite the fact that all manufacturers producing wood stoves provide very durable and reliable products, Harvia is the industry leader in this parameter (read: ""). The fireboxes for the Finnish sauna stove of this company are made of cast iron, and the bodies are made of multilayer steel plates.

In addition, a feature of such stoves is their environmental friendliness, since thanks to the filter system, 80% less carbon monoxide is released into the atmosphere.

In terms of cost, Finnish Harvia stoves are superior to their Russian counterparts, and will cost buyers 20-40 thousand rubles more.

Narvi Company (Narvi)

This manufacturer has the most high performance environmental friendliness The appearance of these stoves is classic and not original. However, they are very economical - to warm up the room to 80-85 ºС it will take no more than an hour and two loads of firewood.

Helo Company

A stove for a Finnish sauna from Helo will cost the consumer much less than all others. This is caused only by the lack original design, and not at all a loss of quality. The Helo and Kastor companies produce their products at the same technological line already since 2009. In addition, Helo has a very wide range of products.

In the product catalog you can even find round-shaped stoves, which allows you to retain heat longer. Note that although the prices for any Finnish sauna stoves are much higher than those of Russian manufacturers, their quality is much higher. So you will recoup all expenses quite quickly and will be completely satisfied.

Choosing a metal sauna stove

There are two types of baths:

  • Russian wet steam room;
  • dry Finnish sauna.

As is clear from the classification, the Finnish dry steam room has a maximum humidity threshold of 15% and quite high temperatures, and 90-100 ºС is not the maximum. With such high rates, excess moisture would lead to unpleasant consequences - fainting, for example.

And, conversely, in a Russian steam room, very humid air (up to 50-60%) is heated to not very high temperatures, no more than 50-60 ºС. It is not advisable to increase the temperature further, since not everyone can withstand such a load.

Depending on which type you prefer, you should choose one or another type of Finnish sauna boiler to create an optimal microclimate.

Finnish sauna stove

The main requirement for a Finnish sauna stove is the speed at which the steam room warms up. To achieve this effect, ovens are equipped with convection casings. The principle of operation of such stoves is to constantly circulate air in the room.

First, it enters the gap between the housing and the casing and, passing past the hot walls of the housing, quickly heats up. Warm air quickly rises up and, reaching the ceiling, gradually gives off heat to all surfaces of the room, heating it up and cooling it down. This cyclical movement continues while the stove is heating.

Note that ovens with convection casings allow you to warm up the room very quickly, however, due to the too high temperature, it is impossible to be close to them, although the strength of the heat waves is compensated to some extent by the protective shell.

You can eliminate the problem of hard radiation like this:

  • use Finnish sauna stones, which are placed in special grids around the stove. Stove manufacturers have a wide selection of such stones (read: " ");
  • cover the entire surface of the stove body with stone slabs - such products are offered by the Tulikivi company and some others.

Thanks to one of these solutions, it is possible to soften the aggressive heat waves from the stove, since the stones accumulate them inside and then gradually release them, providing heating to the room. Such stove designs provide smooth and slow heating of the room.

It is worth noting that stones in meshes and entire slabs for cladding can only heat up to 250 ºС, which does not make it possible to obtain the fine transparent steam required for a Russian bath. So both of these designs are intended specifically for Finnish dry saunas, as, indeed, are most other products from Finnish manufacturers.

Stove for Russian bath

A Russian bathhouse should have a completely different microclimate. It is necessary that there is a lot of dry light steam inside the steam room at a low temperature (50-70 ºС). It is important that the steam is not heavy and not wet, as in a hammam. Dry light steam is almost transparent, while wet steam, on the contrary, looks like fog.

Therefore, to obtain the desired effect, a stove of a special design must be installed in the steam room. In order to heat the stones to the required temperature without overheating the steam room, the iron body of the stove is lined with brick. In this case, the heater is located immediately above the firebox directly under the brickwork.

This structure allows the stones to be heated to 500-650 ºС. Water is supplied to the stones through a special chute, and the resulting steam, passing by the upper hot stones, is further dried. This creates the most suitable steam for a Russian bath.

Thus, when choosing a stove for a sauna from Finnish manufacturers, you should focus on its internal structure. Even if there is an uncovered heater on top of the stove, this does not necessarily indicate that it is intended for a Russian bath.

The purpose of an open heater can be not only to shield too intense heat from the stove, but to evaporate herbal infusions. If the heater is in the firebox, overheated stones quickly burn all the essential oils.

That is, if you are looking for a stove specifically for a Russian bath, you only need to pay attention to products with a closed heater.

Finnish stoves that can be installed in a Russian bath

If such a question is asked to a true connoisseur, he will most likely answer - nothing. Many people believe that only a massive stone stove can perform such tasks, and even then, not every one, but only one that is heated in black.

But our task is to decide on a Finnish metal wood-burning stove. Stoves with a closed heater will be as similar in design as possible. The Finns have many units designed for saunas, that is, there won’t be that many of them.

For example, the Harvia company has a new model Harvia Classic 280 Top and 400 Top Duo. It is equipped with a lid on the heater, and if left closed, the stones can be heated to a high temperature. As a result, you can get fairly light steam. But the body will need to be covered with a brick screen to prevent the steam room from overheating.

U different models There are differences in power: the first is for steam rooms not exceeding 28 m 3 with a stone mass of 60 kg, and the second is for volumes of 14-40 m 3 with a stone mass of 80 kg. The Duo model is equipped with a stainless steel case, unlike the regular model, which has a stainless steel case.

In the spring of 2013, Kastor launched the Ferro single-heating furnace. The Finns themselves call it this way; inside it has a large mass of stones above the place of combustion. They are heated by smoke passing past them, which subsequently exits through the pipe. Interior The housing is lined with vermiculite, which prevents overheating of the room.

The Finnish wood-burning stove Ferro is best suited for a Russian bath. You can start steaming in it only after all the wood has burned out and the resulting coals have been removed and taken outside the room. Next, a little water, about 100 grams, is supplied to the heater - the resulting steam removes the remaining smoke to the street.

Then the chimney is closed, and you can apply water to the heated stones and begin to steam. This option would be appropriate for a family as a one-time use - the steam and temperature are more than enough for a couple of hours. The disadvantage of such a stove is that it is not suitable for a large company.

IN model range Helo also has the desired option. This thermos stove has a name that is very difficult to pronounce - Ukkotonttu. Its design also involves placing stones under the lid. It is closed during the heating period, and it opens when you need to increase the temperature or extract steam.

The stove has an unusual appearance, but it fits perfectly in the corner of the room. The smoke exhaust pipe is located in the rear part. This furnace is also notable for the fact that it uses interesting technological approaches. The thickness of its walls is 1 cm, and the air exchange has a three-stage system, which is capable of maximizing the energy received from burning wood. It can be installed in rooms with a volume of 8-22 m3.

Wood-burning stoves of thermos design are also available in Narvi - Narvi Steam Master. They have many modifications. For the most loaded upper part of the firebox, steel with increased scale resistance CORN-TEN was used. Inside the firebox there are fire bricks, preventing the walls from experiencing unnecessary overheating. This approach makes it possible not to overheat the steam room when the stones are heated. With the lid closed, they take 90 minutes to warm up.

As mentioned earlier, there are not many Finnish wood-burning stoves to choose from for a Russian steam room. But, in truth, Russian manufacturers also cannot boast of such an extensive selection.
