Mini band sawmills for the home. A mini band sawmill is an indispensable assistant in building a house sawmill. DIY band sawmills from A to Z

So, the machines have been purchased, all that remains is to install and configure them. This should definitely be left to the professionals! However, it is better to equip a place for them in advance. If the sawmill is not located indoors, then it is necessary to do it for it. You can not spend a lot of money and put together a simple but strong wooden canopy, which will be enough for 5 years, and then replace it. Or you can immediately invest more money and order a canopy made of iron guides; such canopies are usually stronger and last much longer, but are more expensive to install.

For ease of production, a ramp should be made on the side of the sawmill - iron guides on which the round timber will be located and along which it will be delivered to the sawing site. As a rule, a place for a temporary warehouse is also equipped near the sawmill, where the products produced during the shift will be stored.

The plan for the future sawmill should be carefully thought out in advance, since an inconveniently located entrance to the warehouse, or incorrectly positioned slopes can delay the production process and, as a result, reduce possible profits.

Band sawmill: advantages and disadvantages. Selection criteria

The band sawmill is one of the most promising and popular types of woodworking equipment. As a rule, a band sawmill is a machine small sizes and is used for cutting almost any type. The cutting tool here is 32-50 mm wide. With the help of an electric motor, the saw moves and cuts the material.

The advantages of band saws include:
Possibility to produce 20-25% more wood than classical cutting methods.
Energy saving, greater mobility of this woodworking equipment.
Availability for small businesses, because tape is acceptable.
Processing accuracy (0.3-0.5 mm per 8 meters of log).
Reducing waste by 2.5 times compared to traditional methods.
The operator can quickly switch to the desired sawing size with high accuracy.
The ability to produce wood up to 5 mm thick and cut wood up to 1 meter long.
Individual cutting of each individual log (if necessary).

Disadvantages of band sawmills:
Lower productivity compared to frame and. But this drawback is eliminated if you use a band saw and a positional type together.
A band sawmill does not guarantee the accuracy of radial cutting. This is especially noticeable when this woodworking equipment receives freshly cut wood. conifer. Due to the fact that the material is resinous and contains a lot of moisture, resin sticks to the cutting edges of the saw and other moving parts when cutting, and therefore “waviness” is formed on the surface of the wood. This disadvantage can also be avoided by using cleaners and lubricants more often.

As you can see, all the disadvantages of a band sawmill can be avoided. Therefore, the advantages of this type of woodworking equipment make it today the most relevant and in demand among other cutting methods. How ?

There are several factors to consider:

1. Rails. The quality of the sawmill is directly proportional to the weight of the rails. The reason is the weight of the log: if you put a 1-2 ton log on rails weighing 70 kg, then the rail track will clearly not support it. Therefore, the length of the rail track must be at least 8.5 meters (otherwise, rolling the log onto the rails will become additional problem). In addition, make sure that the rail track has adjustment facilities.

2. Engine power. The engine must have a power of at least 11 kW. If the power is less, cutting occurs more slowly and productivity decreases. In addition, low engine power reduces the speed of the saw and degrades the quality of the resulting surface.

3. Pulley diameter. Main problem band sawmill - this is what breaks the saw. One of the reasons is the bending/unbending of the saw while the pulleys are rotating. Moreover, the smaller the diameter of the pulley, the more revolutions are needed for the saw speed to remain linear (30 m/sec). The larger the diameter, the less revolutions are required. Therefore, the larger the pulley diameter, the less bending/extension of the saw is carried out. Therefore, the less likely the saw will break.

4. Saw width. The wider the better. As a rule, narrow blades are used for carpentry, but not for sawing.

5. Auxiliary equipment. The professionalism of a band sawmill is indicated by the presence of such auxiliary equipment, such as automatic log sawing, log tilting, top lifting, etc.

In any case, before choosing and purchasing woodworking equipment such as a band sawmill, you should consult with experts in this field and find out from them in more detail about all the nuances.

With age, a person begins to think that he simply needs passive relaxation at the dacha in his own cozy house. Exemplary fathers of the family always make sure that the housing they build is reliable, strong and made from environmentally friendly materials. Currently, many are leaning towards wooden buildings, and even take a direct part in creating a house. Of course you can get by with the simpler option and buy it already ready house from, but here it will no longer be possible to influence its design, quality and service life.

Therefore, what is built almost always meets the consumer’s needs. Well, a certain amount of logs have already been purchased and a dispute arises over what is the best way to cut wood. A mini is perfect for these purposes. At affordable price she can easily saw through the whole required material for building a house. This design is easy to control, has small dimensions and is in no way inferior to more expensive and professional ones. construction tools, but on the contrary significantly simplifies production work.

The mini band sawmill has incredible reliability, functionality and durability. Moreover, it will pay for itself in a few months due to its improved performance. This machine is very unpretentious in care, does not occupy a large area and can work around the clock, while consuming a minimum of electricity. He makes only high-quality boards and bars.

The sawmill is designed for longitudinal sawing of wood of any species into beams and boards of the required thickness.
For the convenience of sawmill consumers Wood - Max are available in three modifications:

Hundreds of people are satisfied with the sawmill Wood- Max!

Building a house out of wood or being a carpenter requires special woodworking tools. And we are not talking about a “friendship” saw, but about a real band sawmill. Of course, you can purchase already processed workpieces or purchase an industrial sawmill, but the price for all this is very high. In this article we will talk about how to make a band sawmill with your own hands. The task is quite feasible, but it will require attention and perseverance.

General information

Wood has been used as a building material for centuries. We can say that even in our time many people prefer wooden houses in the private sector rather than concrete. This is due to many reasons, but that’s not what we’re talking about. To speed up construction work and also reduce costs, woodworking machines were invented. Today there are a huge number of sawmills, but they all perform logging processing, only the methods differ.

If you have a self-made band sawmill, it can become an additional source of income. After all, you can easily take on private orders, and you won’t deny yourself anything. Would you like a sauna or a gazebo? No problem, we take the blank, process it and start construction.

Why tape?

You are probably asking yourself this question. As noted above, there is currently a huge selection, but we will focus on this. The fact is that such a solution has a huge number of advantages. Firstly, a sawmill of this type can work with any type of tree, from deciduous to highly resinous. Secondly, the range of products produced is quite extensive, including edged and unedged boards, beams, veneer, carriages and much more.

You will be able to create blanks from which furniture, laminated veneer lumber, panels, etc. will be made in the future. And in general, the work process on a band sawmill is simplified. What's most important is this type Sawing involves minimal loss of logs to sawdust, which is a very important point. If a do-it-yourself band sawmill is done correctly, then you will not see waves or stubble on the processed workpiece.

DIY band sawmill: drawings and design

Before proceeding directly to the practical part, you need to quickly familiarize yourself with the design and sketch out a few simple drawings. In general, the design scheme is designed in such a way that you can expand the equipment layout. That is, in the very simple version you get a basic band sawmill with manual feeding of the workpiece, and in the most complex - a high-performance product with automation and sensors.

The basis of the sawmill is a frame with guides. Usually it is assembled with welded soles, where movable rollers are placed. The frame in all cases is U-shaped and is assembled by welding two channels together. Accordingly, the drive pulley is fixed on one side of the frame in a stationary state, and the second - on the other end in a movable state. The guides are mounted in the middle of the frame and are a collapsible structure. This is very important if the equipment is planned to be transported. In general, a do-it-yourself band sawmill, the drawings of which you can find in this article, is not made so quickly. But such equipment has a lot of strengths.

DIY band sawmills from A to Z

We can say that even the simplest homemade sawmill, provided that it is assembled correctly, has a unique design. The fact is that only this type of woodworking machine completely eliminates damage to the frame as a result of a heavy workpiece falling. This is achieved through independently suspended guides.

What you should take care of is the choice of cutting tool. In our case, a band saw is used, which is why, in fact, the equipment is called that. Its width can reach 60 mm. It is tensioned using a spring-screw mechanism, which is very convenient, as it does not take much time. The saw blade is installed and secured with two locks. They must be extremely reliable; pay attention to this if you are going to make homemade band sawmills. You shouldn’t make such locks with your own hands; it’s better to buy them.

Operating principle of the device

The work cycle looks something like this:

  • Preparation of the workpiece. At this stage, the logs are cut and given the same shape.
  • Workpiece processing. The operator sets up the equipment. If there is automation, then the necessary parameters are set, the sawmill does the rest.
  • The final stage. This stage may not exist, depending on the presence of errors. If any are found on the processed logs, they are eliminated by the operator.

In general, the principle of operation of the device is based on the fact that during the processing process the workpiece is in a stationary state and is cut by a moving belt. It moves horizontally and is mounted on the drive and driven pulleys. Maintaining belt tension is essential to ensure a straight cut. The log is fixed between the guides using a special support. The equipment includes an electronic ruler or hydraulics, which is necessary to obtain a workpiece of a certain thickness. Basic handmade: laying the log, turning it over and clamping it.

Manufacturing of sawmill

As a basis for our future sawmill, we need to take two channels. They should have a length of 8 meters and a height of about 14 centimeters. Of course, there is not always a suitable channel available, so you can go the other way and use rails or 50x100 mm angles. The main requirement is that the base is smooth and has no bends. A series of holes are drilled along the entire length of the channels. In this case, you must strictly follow the given step. Using the holes we made, we will build ties. ¾-inch pipe sections are suitable for this. Their length should be about 25 centimeters. For connections, it is advisable to use studs or bolts 29-35 cm.

A mini band sawmill with your own hands is installed on special racks. It is advisable to assemble them using M12 bolts. The material can be pipes, angles or channels. Accordingly, the longer the unit frame, the greater the number of racks we will need. In our case, 4 pieces are enough.

We continue assembly work

Now we have to make a movable cart. It consists of a metal plate 40-50 mm thick. Depending on the dimensions of the engine, its length is selected, optimally 550-600 cm. As for the width, the trolley should be such that the channels on each side extend approximately 70-80 mm.

Important Details

In general, making a band sawmill with your own hands is almost complete. Only a few small details remain. First of all, I would like to say a few words about the moving cart. The fact is that to ensure movement along the guides it is necessary to use plates and spacers. In this case, you should try to make the gap as small as possible. The thickness of the gaskets is selected so that it is 0.5 mm greater than the channel flange. The whole thing needs to be secured using 8 M8 bolts.

Since a chain is used to move the cart with the engine, it must be sufficiently tensioned. This is necessary to prevent free movement of the steering wheel. It is located on one of the bushings near the sprockets, which are located on the edges of the guides.

Everyone should know

There is also such an option as a gasoline band sawmill. Making it with your own hands is even easier. In this case, the motor that drives the cutting tool into rotation will be the chainsaw engine, rigidly mounted on the frame. The functions of the tape are performed by the canvas gasoline saw. In general, the design of such a saw is extremely simple, but at the same time quite functional.

It is convenient to work with such equipment also because of the well-thought-out fastening mechanism. It consists of pipes with an internal diameter of 35-40 mm into which movable rods are inserted. Clamps (from a 40x40 corner) and cam clamps are mounted on top.

Conclusion

It is easy to guess that the main elements of a sawmill are the engine and the saw. A low-power motor is not suitable for a serious machine. Try to get a 10 kW motor. It will be quite sufficient for the design described above. As for the saw, its diameter should be about a meter. If you have difficulty purchasing these components, it is recommended to reduce the size of the frame.

So we talked about how to make a band sawmill with your own hands. Of course, you won’t be able to make such a unit without any expense, but you can save a lot. In any case, it is advisable to be guided by the workpieces being processed. The larger they are, the more massive the frame and the sawmill as a whole will be. In the end, you can go with the simplest design and use a chainsaw as a base. If you assemble everything correctly, the result will please you. Now you know how to assemble a band sawmill with your own hands, and you can take advantage of this knowledge.

Today there are several reputable companies producing and selling band sawmills. These companies produce truly high-quality woodworking equipment.

Distinctive features of the Murka M2 chain sawmill
Mini sawmill price
The electric sawmill Murka M2 has a number of advantages over cheaper analogues:

Rail track. On such equipment (mini sawmills), the rail track is mainly made of metal angle. On our sawmill it is made of a much more durable channel, similar to band sawmills.
Fastening the log. Convenient mounts and log clamps are more reliable than analogues and even more reliable than similar units on some more industrial band sawmills.
Support and side rollers. Fastening the saw frame to the rail track by means of several types of support and side pressure rollers prevents the legs of the sawmill from “bouncing” when moving it along the rails.
Steel structure. The reliable steel structure sets the precise geometry when sawing.
Loading logs. There is no need to raise the log to a level of 70 cm, as is done on some models of our competitors. The log is rolled to a level of 20 cm directly from the rolls.
Performance. The cutting tool allows you to cut logs in both directions, thereby reducing the time for complete sawing of a log.

Astron Band mini sawmill 9.01

In 2009, the Astron-9.01mini mini-band sawmill was developed and put into mass production. This mini band sawmill allows you to saw logs of any species into edged and unedged board. First of all, it is designed for those who have small volumes, who are just starting a sawmill business, or who are temporarily limited in finances. The payback period for this mini-band sawmill is minimal. The petrol version allows you to cut wherever it is convenient for you. The minimum weight allows it to be transported on a Gazelle or a light trailer.

Differences between our mini-sawmill and its analogues.
Wheels made of steel sheet on a car laser cutting with high precision, are characterized by low weight, absence of runout and imbalance. A double-row automotive bearing (2108 front hub) is installed in the hub, which does not require adjustments or maintenance.
Roller bearings on other types of sawmills operate at the highest possible speed, which leads to rapid failure of them and, as a consequence, the rollers themselves. The rollers themselves should be hardened, and preferably chrome plated. The rollers, made of ordinary steel, quickly grind down into a cone, which leads to the appearance of a wave on the board. The “bearing in bearing” system we used works like a planetary gearbox, which significantly reduces angular velocity and increases the resource several times. The material of the bearing race is wear-resistant, and if the bearing fails, it can be freely purchased.
High-quality Italian gearboxes with a gear ratio of 1:60 and double-row chains quickly raise and lower the saw frame of the mini band sawmill, which allows you to saw without removing the sawn boards.

Using hydraulics, the operator tensions the saw and controls its tension.
With the help of a clock-type ruler, the mini-band sawmill operator gets rid of the need to remember and calculate the dimensions of the board. This ruler (unlike an electronic one) works in any frost; you only need to set it to zero at the end of each cut.
Eccentric clamps allow you to quickly and securely secure the log. The frame frame, welded from a thick-walled profile pipe, provides the mini-band sawmill with rigidity and reliability.

With its small size, simplicity of design and low price our band saw machine has many useful functions: electro-mechanical lifting of the traverse, hydraulic tension of the saw, a very convenient dial ruler and, if desired, can be equipped with a mechanical feed.

Mini band sawmill

A mini band-type sawmill allows you to saw any wood, any species. On modern market there are quite a lot various models this device.
Mini band sawmill The highest quality and most convenient mini band sawmill is considered to be a device from the domestic brand “Astron”. With the help of such a sawmill you can saw any logs, resulting in edged and unedged boards. The mini-format sawmill is best suited for those who plan to work with small volumes of wood. For example, a mini sawmill will become excellent choice for those who are going to open a sawmill business from scratch. Electric mini sawmills

This device is very beneficial in many respects. A mini sawmill is cheaper than a regular sawmill. Thus, you can purchase it if you are temporarily limited in financial spending. In addition, such a purchase becomes profitable due to its minimal payback period. Another undoubted advantage is its excellent technical and operational characteristics.

The ease of use of a small sawmill is ensured mainly by its wheels. They are made from high quality steel sheet using a laser cutting machine. The use of laser equipment in the manufacture of sawmills ensures high accuracy. The wheels turn out to be light, they do not warp or knock during operation. For specialists, these characteristics are very important.

In addition, mini-sawmills are usually equipped with high-quality gearboxes Italian made(for example, for “Astron”). Thanks to the double-row chains found on mini band saws, these devices are able to quickly raise and lower the saw frame. This, in turn, makes it possible to cut wood without removing the sawn boards.

Band sawmills (including mini do-it-yourself sawmill and homemade band sawmill) are designed for different types of consumers and take into account unequal energy consumption opportunities. They have an internal combustion engine and an electric drive, which makes it possible to use sawmills in conditions where there is no access to sources of electricity. Another feature of domestic sawmills is their ability to “take” any type of wood, incl. the hardest. You can watch a video of homemade band saws on our page.

Multi-saw machines have won a separate circle of admirers. Equal gang saws appeared on Russian market relatively recently, their advantage is that they are much more economical than disk saws and consume less electricity.

Edgers help quickly produce high-quality lumber from unedged boards.

The production and sale of Russian-made band sawmills has increased significantly in recent years, which was influenced by the development of, incl. the use of modern technologies in the manufacture of band saws; due to such technologies, the quality of domestically produced equipment has greatly increased. Today there are several reputable companies producing and selling band sawmills. These companies produce truly high-quality woodworking equipment. Because of these companies, it is now possible to buy high-quality, relatively inexpensive woodworking and sawmill machines. Qualified specialists control the production process of sawmill equipment. Russian band sawmills (including band sawmills handmade) have gained popularity due to their very durable design; its peculiarity is that it is possible to use it in almost any conditions, including extreme ones.
Lumber manufacturers are pleased with the reliability and functionality of domestic band sawmills. They can produce high-quality products: edged boards and timber, slats quickly and without unnecessary costs. DIY band sawmill

Homemade band sawmill idea: this design the rail is convenient and versatile, and has been tested by time. The basis of the frame of our sludge frame is made up of two steel channels 8 meters long and 140...ISO mm high. For the same purpose, you can use two rails, with their soles facing up, or corners 50 X 100 mm. The workpieces must be perfectly straight. At the same height distance and in increments of approximately 1...1.5 meters, a series of 14...16 mm holes are drilled along the entire length of the channels. According to the number of holes obtained, ties are made - segments water pipe 3/4 250 mm long.

To connect the ties to the channels, bopts or threaded rods with a length of 290-340 mm are used, depending on the selected materials. The assembled guides are installed on racks, drilled or assembled with M12 bolts from angles, pipes or channels. The number of racks is determined by the length of the bed; in the described variant with a length of 8 meters there are 4 of them. The outer pillars are located at a distance of 800-1000 mm from the ends of the guides. To give the frame the required rigidity, braces are installed. Due to the rather substantial weight of the frame, it should be assembled directly at the site of future installation. To ensure the horizontality of the guides, bars and boards are placed under the racks, and where necessary, soil is dug up
The next unit of the “sawmill” is a movable cart. It is made of steel plate 4-6 mm thick. The length of the trolley is approximately 600 mm (this depends on the dimensions of the electric motor used, and the width should be such that the edges of the trolley extend beyond the indenting channels by approximately UP to mm on each side. By selecting the thickness of the gaskets and clamping plates, the trolley can be moved freely along the entire length of the guides. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the gap is minimal. The thickness of the gasket package should be 0.5 mm greater than the thickness of the channel flange. The gaskets and clamping plates are tightened using eight M8 bolts. corner 40 X X 40 mm. You can put the cart on rollers or bearings (for example, as in Chmykhalov’s design), there are two welded corners on the cart for mounting the electric motor.

To move the cart with the engine and circular saw installed on it, a chain is used (I used one from a combine harvester. It must be tensioned to prevent free movement of the steering wheel. The latter is mounted on one of the nine bushings at the side sprockets located along the edges of the guides.
Convenience in operation is provided by devices for fixing the processed log. They are made from pipes with an internal diameter of approximately 35.. 40 mm, into which movable rods are freely inserted, locked at the desired height with an M8 screw. On top of the rods there are clamps (made from a 40X40 mm angle) and cam clamping mechanisms. The length of the clamps relative to the distance to the sawing line must be at least 15 mm.

Of course, the heart of any stvnkv is the engine and saw. I was lucky enough to purchase an electric motor with a power of 10 kW and a saw with a diameter of 1 meter: the entire structure was made for them. But don’t be upset if you can’t get similar units - make the frame smaller, matching its CVBV-rits with the components at your disposal.
Working on the stand is not difficult: the log is laid on the bed and secured with clamps; By turning on the electric motor and turning the steering wheel, we move the cart, making an even and long cut with the saw. The cart can be moved in one direction or the other. You just need to make sure that the saw is always sharp, and, of course, follow the safety rules.

At such a sawmill you can get timber, plasterboards, boards and
slats of almost any size. If you put a stack of blocks or boards and run a saw, you will get several excellent edged boards of the same size in a couple of minutes.

Mini sawmill - main features of the equipment

The chain sawmill based on the PCE-1 electric saw is designed for longitudinal and diagonal high-quality sawing of wood of any species given thickness. Can be used to produce veneer, carriage, edged, not edged boards, thin gauge, regular timber (complex, three-sided and multi-faceted profile sections).

Device composition:
· carriage;
· Oregon or Stihl tire;
· micro rip sawing chain from Stihl with a 10-degree sharpening angle (72 links);
· rail track of two or three sections;
· electric motor 5.5 kW/3000 rev.

Operating principle and operating rules

· The rail track and tire on the carriage are aligned in a horizontal plane and secured.
· Before work, immerse the new chain in oil overnight to extend its service life.
· Do not put a new chain on a worn drive sprocket.
· Replace the drive sprocket after four or five chains have worn out.
· During operation, the chain tension must be carefully adjusted, the chain must be well lubricated, the cutting depth stop must be accurately adjusted and the chain must be well sharpened.
· Whenever you replace the chain, you must turn the bar over to ensure even wear.
· Every day, use an oil can to pump oil into the nose sprocket of the guide bar.
· Sawing is carried out in a horizontal plane by manually moving a carriage with a tire along guides relative to a stationary log being processed.
· The tire is raised and lowered manually by turning the height adjustment knob.
· The chain on the bar is changed in 1 minute, the time for sharpening the chain with a round file f 4 mm is 10 - 15 minutes.
· Breaking a chain link is a rare phenomenon; riveting a chain is an extremely simple operation.
· The chain can withstand about 10 sharpenings; no toothing is required.
· One sharpening of the chain is enough for 2 – 3 m3 (if the forest is clean softwood).
· One tire is enough for 80 – 90 m3, the drive sprocket is enough for 80 – 90 m3.
· Lubricant - any engine or transmission oil.
· Drip feed into the tire.
· Sharpening a chain requires skill or a sharpening machine.
· In winter it cuts with the same quality and ease as in summer - without “waves” and “stubble”.
· The logs are not centered and do not rise anywhere.
· Maintenance: tire, with a hoist - 1 person, without a hoist - 2 people.
· Due to individual cutting of logs, you can obtain a yield of up to 65% of unedged boards.
· The recommended size of logs for sawing is 25 – 30 cm in diameter.
· It is not recommended to cut logs with sand, dirt and dead wood.
· Do not leave the device unattended while it is switched on.
· Immediately disconnect from the power supply in case of any breakdown.
· Do not wash the housing by immersing it in water or using a stream of water while it is plugged into the mains.
· Grounding of the device is mandatory.

Advantages over other types of sawmills

In 2009, the Astron-9.01mini band mini-sawmill was developed and put into mass production. This mini-band sawmill allows you to saw logs of any species into edged and unedged boards. First of all, it is designed for those who have small volumes, who are just starting a sawmill business, or who are temporarily limited in finances. The payback period for this mini band sawmill is minimal.
Differences between our mini-sawmill and its analogues.

The wheels, made of steel sheet on a laser cutting machine with high precision, are characterized by low weight, absence of runout and imbalance.

The “bearing in bearing” system we used works like a planetary gearbox, which reduces the angular velocity several times and increases the service life several times.

With the help of a clock-type ruler, the operator of a mini-band sawmill gets rid of the need to remember and calculate the dimensions of the board.
And lastly, she is simply beautiful. And, as you know, ugly planes don’t fly.

To visitors of this page: if you have come to this page, it means that you are just going to buy a band sawmill and one of the determining factors for you is the price of the band sawmill, but not a single sawmill will cut if you cannot sharpen and align the saw correctly. But finding good machines for sharpening band saws and machines for setting band saws can be difficult. But you can find them on our website: machines for sharpening band saws, and adjusting machines

Mini sawmill
Weighing ~200kg, it cuts a log with a diameter of 40cm in 9.5 minutes. At a low price, our mini-sawmill is not much inferior in performance to more expensive analogues. If you want to buy our Astron-9.01mini band sawmill for your sawmill, then the Astron company guarantees that you will NOT be disappointed with its work. With its small size, simplicity of design and low price, our band saw machine has many useful functions: electric -mechanical lifting of the traverse, hydraulic tension of the saw, a very convenient clock-type ruler and, if desired, can be equipped with a mechanical feed.
We will consider the characteristics of band sawmills in the article below.

DIY mini sawmill

If there is a need to work with wood for household needs, such as building a house or other objects, then sometimes there is no point in buying expensive forestry equipment. Sometimes it is worth purchasing additional equipment for it. Firstly, because such a need may well turn out to be one-time. In this case, it makes sense to make the instrument yourself. To do this, of course, you should have a good understanding of this technique in order to avoid a number of mistakes. In our article we will look in detail at how to make a mini-sawmill of various options.
Disc sawmill

If you need woodworking equipment for your business, then best choice There will be a disc sawmill. It is an easy-to-use tool and, if desired, you can do it yourself. Let's look at how to make a circular sawmill from simple components.

The circular sawmill differs from other types of such tools. Firstly, before you make a sawmill, you should know that the basis of its design is circular saw. It is installed either on the machine spindle or directly on the electric motor.
If you know the design diagram of such a sawmill, then you can find ready-made drawings according to which you can build. The simplest type, the so-called. “circular” - a table, a shaft with a circular saw, driven by a motor.
The basis of the sawmill will be a table, which is made of metal or wooden trestles, fixed with a piece of board. The top of the table will be a structure measuring 200 mm and thickness 4 mm, made of metal plates. The plates are secured with bolts.
Before attaching the top of the table, holes are made in the plates for attaching the saw.
The holes in the table base should be countersunk and secured with screws. The saw itself is attached so that its position is in the middle of the plate structure. It is fixed through holes in the base and plates.
The top of the table is attached to the base with screws and an insert for the saw blade is inserted into the gap between the plates.
The work is completed by attaching the stop bar.
Such a sawmill will perform longitudinal cutting of logs into beams or veneer.

Band sawmill

Existing types of woodworking equipment also come in compact form and small sizes. The mini-sawmills themselves come in both band sawmills, for longitudinal sawing of wood, and electric - busbar ones. Tire mini sawmills can make both longitudinal and diagonal cuts.

If you do not need to achieve such highly technical results, then you can make a mini-sawmill on your own. Because, as usual, the number of workers is limited, and feeding the sawn parts on a belt greatly simplifies the work. Let's look at how to make a band sawmill from improvised materials.

Pulleys with a diameter of no more than 30 cm, usually attached to combines, are suitable for the design. Before making a sawmill with your own hands, you can remove similar ones from a Niva combine, for example. It is necessary to grind them down so that after you put the belt on top, it protrudes just a little.
You will not need to carry out turning work, because... The structure of the sawmill requires a half-inch pipe onto which a larger pipe will be placed.
The next stage is the manufacture of rails for feeding the log house. An iron corner measuring 50 mm is suitable for this. It is installed with the edge up, so that the wheels do not wear out later.
Suitable for making sleepers profile pipe with dimensions 25x25 mm. It is welded to a half-inch pipe, onto which the log fasteners were previously installed. The fasteners must be movable so that they tilt to the sides. The clamping is achieved with a precise blow of a hammer, which gives “self-jamming”.
The profile tubes are positioned so that they protrude beyond the rails. Bolts are placed on these protrusions for adjustment. The so-called pipes are added to the pipes themselves. “bridges”, the distance between which is 50 cm. It is on them that the log will be located.
The pulleys are welded to the surface of the tubes and fixed with bolts so that the structure is mobile and can change position along the guide pipes.
The right pulley will be tensioned using a spring. A spring from a shock absorber, such as a motorcycle, may be suitable. The left pulley, on the contrary, is fixed and can only change position by changing the size of the saw.
The final stage is making the frame. To do this, you can use a channel measuring 1.5 m. It may not be fastened very tightly and therefore slightly change its position, but this will not affect the cut.

Chainsaw sawmill

Also one of the very common tools is a chainsaw. Almost everyone has it, and is indispensable when working with wood. It can also be improved into woodworking equipment. Let's look at how to make a sawmill from a chainsaw.

For the frame, two channels with dimensions of 140-180 mm in height and 8 m in length are usually taken.
Holes with a diameter of 14-16 mm are made along the length of the base at a distance of 1.5 m from one another. The distance from the ends to the extreme points of the base should be 80-100 mm.
Based on the number of holes, the corresponding number of metal ties is taken. Pipe sections are suitable for this. The tie should be 25 cm long and connected with bolts.
The stand for the base of the sawmill is made from metal corners measuring 50x100mm. One of the main requirements of how to do homemade sawmill, is that the corners should be turned “sole” up.
For the cart, a steel plate measuring 60 cm and 6 cm thick is taken. In order for the plate to be movable, a corner measuring 4x4 cm is welded to its base from below, and the cart is placed on bearings or roller wheels.
The chainsaw itself is fixed on two metal corners, welded on top.
To fix the log, pipes with a diameter of 40 mm and hoses are used, which are fixed to the pipe at the desired height. The sawmill is now ready for use.

One of the main points of working with any type of sawmill is that there must be a level place for its location. Otherwise, the logs may not be fixed correctly and they will be fed unevenly, which will affect the quality of the cut. Therefore, make sure that the area allocated for such work is as level as possible. It is best if you have the opportunity to fill the required space with concrete and level it. Then the structure of the sawmill will be fixed.

Homemade sawmills can also have frequent breakdowns, so it’s worth having a number of spare parts and understanding the design of the mechanism. In this case, the instrument assembled by your own hands will serve you as long as possible.

Mini band sawmill: selection criteria

In Russia we use three types of sawmills: band saws, frame saws and circular saws.

Let's take a closer look at each of these three types.

Band sawmills can be vertical, horizontal, or with the band saw machine positioned at an angle. Installations using tapes up to 40 mm wide are, as a rule, relatively inexpensive and small-sized. These sawmills are the most popular among consumers. Maintenance of saws comes down to timely sharpening and periodic setting of the teeth. Performing these operations does not require special qualifications of personnel.

The SLP band sawmill is horizontal with the band saw machine positioned at an angle of 10º to the plane of the log, which reduces the load on the saw when sawing, increases the speed of movement of the sawing mechanism, and eliminates waves even at the beginning of the cut. This allows us to obtain lumber of export quality.

It is easy to verify the advantage of the SLP band sawmill over the circular saw in terms of product output. The sawmill produces high-quality lumber of precise dimensions, rather than sawdust. You get more planks out of every log with less energy and less effort.

When purchasing a band saw with a band width of more than 60 mm, a more serious approach to preparing the room for work is required. Sami band saws are produced with carbide tips, which implies that the personnel have special training and qualifications, since in addition to sharpening with such saws, periodic rolling of the blade is necessary special equipment. All band sawmills are made in such a way that the cutting width on them is 0.9-2.6 mm, i.e. sawdust is minimal.

A necessary condition for working on a band sawmill is to change the band every 2.5 hours, regardless of whether it is dull or not. One belt, with normal care (timely and correctly sharpened and spread), processes up to 60 - 80 cubic meters of saw logs.

Frame sawmills R-50, R-63 have high energy consumption, require a massive foundation, give large number waste, the need to sort sawlogs by diameter. As a rule, stationary sawmill complexes with access roads equipped with lifting mechanisms, sorting areas occupying a large area, powerful log transports, sorting areas for sorting and packaging finished products, equipment for removal, temporary storage and recycling of waste. Thus, these complexes require serious financial investments to equip the sawmill site with the necessary additional equipment for the uninterrupted operation of production.

Circular sawmills have fairly high productivity, there is no need for a massive foundation, and there is the possibility of individual cutting of each log. Unfortunately, the question arises about the need for waste disposal, since the cutting width of circular saws is 6-7 mm, so a large amount of sawdust is formed, just like with frame saws.

To decide which machine to use in your production, you need to approach this with economic point perspective: how quickly it can pay for itself, what raw materials will be used, what diameter logs will be sawn. Depending on this, you should choose equipment.

If you intend to use raw materials 50-70cm in diameter, then you can use a bandsaw machine. But for sawing logs with a diameter of up to 900 - 1200 mm, it makes sense to choose the Grizzly disc sawmill, Ts2UBS1. If you are going to saw oak, then I will never recommend a circular saw to you, because this is an expensive raw material, and, as mentioned earlier, when working on circular saws a large amount of sawdust is formed. Circular saws are quite widespread. In northern countries, sawing is most often done on circular saws. They are used for two reasons. Firstly, in winter conditions the circular saw works so reliably that no other can compare with it. Therefore, Americans, Canadians, Finns, and Swedes mainly produce and use these machines. This is due to severe winter conditions, in which the circular circular saw is a powerful device that can cut frozen wood very easily. Secondly, three saws can be used in a circular saw for a year; they do not require expensive UZS-2 sharpening equipment for maintenance.

The cost of a circular saw depends on its equipment. If it is equipped with additional equipment, then its price is higher. Good machine assembled from those components that are of higher quality, and not from those that are cheaper.

Thus, in order to correctly determine what exactly you need, which option will be the most optimal for your production, you need to calculate all the pros and cons, income and expenses, take into account all the circumstances under which your production will develop and then make the only right choice.
Business ideas - mini sawmill
If you are planning to open your own sawmill, now is the best time to do so. The equipment is not that expensive compared to 2008, especially if you find a used one. in good condition, and the construction industry has begun to revive and, as a result, the number of orders is growing. Let's figure out what you need to open your own sawmill and make a profit.

Production nuances
Band sawmill astron price
Remember one important point: after processing a certain volume of raw materials on a sawmill, exactly half of the finished product is obtained. We can make some simple calculations. A cubic meter of raw logs (our raw materials) can now be purchased at a price of $64.5 (approximately - it all depends on the exchange rate). We sell our products (boards, eurolining) at a price of about $162. That is, in principle, profitability can be achieved by processing 500 cubic meters of wood per month. And only production that processes at least 700 cubic meters of wood will begin to generate real profits.
It is also possible to increase the profitability of production. How? It's simple - money from the fund is saved wages. Typically, in such production, workers are not given a fixed fee, but are paid piecework, that is, for each cube of wood cut. And it’s also very important: ask whether deforestation is legal in your region, and whether they plan to ban it in the near future.

Equipment costs and how to organize production

In order to start working, you will need a large area - at least 30 acres. On this square we place:
1) space for a sawmill;
2) a warehouse for raw materials (half a month's supply should fit there);
3) warehouse for finished products (same calculation);
4) access roads;
5) a canopy in case of unforeseen weather conditions.

Now about the prices. For a domestic sawmill "Taiga" you will have to pay from 109 thousand rubles. Moreover, this price is “from” - other models of this range of equipment are much more expensive! But market luminaries advise for the same money to buy used Finnish equipment or equipment from other producing countries, but not domestic ones.

How to choose a sawmill

Keep in mind that boards prepared at a bad sawmill will never be used on windows. Often, poorly processed boards generally remain unavailable for sale, and the price for such boards is no higher than for raw materials. That is, the better the quality of the boards processed on the machine, the higher their price will be. And the quality of processing directly depends on the capabilities of the sawmill machine itself. The following are points that you need to pay attention to when choosing a sawmill.

The portal must have reinforcing elements, otherwise without them the portal will deform under load. The portal must be made of a pipe with a square cross-section.

Vertical guides

To avoid deformation, they must be made of solid metal (not tubes!) and very well polished.

Pulley and rollers

The rollers must have many settings, and the pulley must have a diameter of at least 500 mm!

Types of sawmill machines

The following types of machines are useful for small businesses.

1. Band sawmill. Advantages: small volume of waste, efficiency, low cost (payback in 3 months). Disadvantages: the need to replace the saw blade every three hours.

2. Frame machine. Advantages: this machine is able to process large volumes of raw materials. Disadvantages: it produces huge waste in the form of chips (which must be disposed of), high energy consumption, and a foundation must be built for this machine.

3. Mini sawmills and disk sawmills. Advantages: suitable for the smallest business, suitable for home use. Disadvantages: for miscellaneous work Various attachments are required, and they are purchased separately.

How to build a canopy

There must be a canopy over the sawmill. A strip frame measuring 8 by 2.2 by 2.4 meters will require a room of 10 by 12 meters, at a minimum. Height – 5 meters, if logs are supposed to be loaded with a crane beam. One wall should be solid at the bottom - it’s more convenient to choose sawdust, and the other wall will be open - it’s convenient to roll logs from the overpass. By the way, construction must begin with the overpass, and only then, to the overpass, attach a canopy. So that there is order in the workshop and the work goes quickly under the “croakers”, “changers” are made. And in general, it is necessary to calculate movements around the workshop as much as possible - this helps to increase productivity and reduce injuries. The floors in the shed should be level, without any steps, made of wood or concrete. To avoid industrial injuries, workers must handle logs with special hand-held turntables. And make sure that workers have a separate cabin and a separate insulated toilet.

Clarifications

You will have to pay not only the bills for the electricity consumed (the power of the sawmill is 50 kW) and pay a one-time connection fee. It costs about 32 thousand $! So many! But this can be avoided if you purchase a ready-made business from an online store.

How else to save

Sawdust is burned in ovens - the dryers are heated. They buy forest plots in their region - standing raw materials are much cheaper!

But when resorting to such saving options, you should make accurate calculations and think carefully: is it worth getting involved with such dubious savings - after all, you will also spend a lot of time and effort. Conclusion: if you are attracted to this particular business, then the crisis is the best time to enter the woodworking market at the lowest cost, and the sawmill becomes a successful investment project.

Mini sawmills - useful information
Tire mini sawmill
Not long ago, the concept of a “tire mini sawmill” appeared on the sawmill equipment market. Now mini-sawmills are very popular and are widely represented by different manufacturers. What is their uniqueness and peculiarity?

Modern technologies in the woodworking industry
The achievements of the century of modern technology make it possible that it is not necessary to deliver sawn timber to stationary sawmills; today the range of mobile sawmills is so wide that you can transport them to the forest yourself and make the necessary timber blanks on the spot, which will save you from unnecessary costs.

Production culture and high technology in the modern woodworking industry
Since the time when man began to use wood in his life, he has been constantly working to improve devices for its processing. These days hand saws, which were once used, have practically become a thing of yesterday, and they have been replaced by more advanced and convenient devices, such as tire and disk sawmills, electric and chainsaws, edgers and multi-sawing machines.
The future of woodworking is small businesses
People are increasingly aware of the advantage natural materials Before artificial ones, the popularity of houses and furniture made of wood increased sharply. At the same time, the demand for materials increased, and the need for manufacturers increased commensurately. In modern conditions, small private enterprises producing and selling lumber and other products are becoming the most convenient form of production.

Features of tire sawmills
Tire sawmills are characterized by high mobility, low weight and ease of operation. The ease of use of the busbar sawmill is determined by the quick preparation of the chain for use and the simplicity of the design.

Operating principle of a tire sawmill
The operation of a bus sawmill is similar in principle to the operation of a band sawmill. The log is also fixedly attached, and the saw carriage with cutting tool processes the log moving along the rails. The principle of operation is similar, but the difference is that wood is cut using a saw chain, which is attached to a bar.

Advantages of a mini-sawmill
One of the main advantages of a mini-sawmill is its mobility. You can take it with you to the forest and to the country. Thus, all you have to do is cut the wood into beams, planks or boards.

How to open a sawmill
The tree is considered one of the highest quality building materials, and therefore sawmills, woodworking shops and sawmills are increasingly appearing. In order to build a sawmill, you should read a lot of books and a variety of specialized literature, but we have a more effective and proven way - to select the most suitable bus mini-sawmill from catalogs in accordance with a previously drawn up business plan.

Homemade mini-sawmill or do-it-yourself bus mini-sawmill
Homemade mini sawmill, what is it? The presented article is intended for informational purposes only. It’s not uncommon for our clients to want to try to create a sawmill on our own. The process of assembling a mini-sawmill is described in some detail below.
