How to level slopes in an adobe house? What to use when finishing slopes if the house is “Adult” Installation of plastic windows in an adobe house

When replacing an old window with a new one, many people have difficulty finding someone who can make high-quality slopes on the windows using plaster.

Many people do poor quality work and demand a lot of money. Due to improper installation slopes on the windows will cause heat loss, and extraneous noise will enter the house. In addition, the appearance of fungus and mold is possible. Therefore, it is important to know how to plaster window slopes with your own hands.

How to plaster slopes on windows: step-by-step instructions

To make the window opening of the apartment beautiful and complement the interior, you can use the work instructions that will be presented in the article. Before starting work, you need to remember the basic rules that allow you to make high-quality slopes on windows, they will not crack and will last a long time:

  1. The temperature in the room where the slope is made must be at least 5 degrees Celsius, if used cement mortar, as well as from 10 degrees, when using a rod band. All mixtures are prepared according to the instructions on the bags.
  2. All mixtures have restrictions on the period of use. As a rule, the time for using the prepared solution is indicated on the pack. Cement plaster It can be used within half an hour, which means you don’t need to cook it much.
  3. Before plastering the windows, you should calculate the number of mixtures based on the thickness window openings and slope size.

Knowing the basic rules of success, you need to know how to plaster the slopes on the windows outside and inside.

What tools and materials will be needed?

Masters recommend using not only the solution for window decoration, but also other types finishing materials. For example, PVC panels or drywall. It is easier to work with such materials than with solutions, but the putty itself is cheaper, and it can be used on an internal or external slope.

The main thing when plastering is to be careful and precise, to put in a little time and effort in order to achieve a positive result. The start of work will be from choosing a solution, after which you need to find out how to plaster the slopes on the windows. The table shows the mixtures that are best used indoors and outdoors:

Advice! When choosing a mixture for a window slope, you should take into account the time it takes to dry a particular material. Cement base It will take longer to dry, even in summer. At the end of the work, finishing material is used. In this case, paint is more often used.

The plaster itself for slopes wooden windows, as well as plastic systems, will not be expensive if you do not plaster with the most expensive mixtures. In addition to the material, you will need to prepare the following tools:

  1. Brush for priming walls.
  2. Roller for painting.
  3. Net.
  4. Spatulas of different shapes.
  5. Half-grater.
  6. Wooden element, slats.
  7. Level.
  8. Perforated corners.
  9. Lighthouses.

When choosing tools to finish a window opening, you need to take into account that the plane is small, so it is inconvenient to work with a large tool. It is recommended to purchase additional gloves; for convenience, use a table or sawhorse.

Application of gypsum and cement-sand mortars

Although putting putty on windows is old way, but all the same materials are used as before:

  1. Cement-sand mortar.
  2. Gypsum solution.

You can easily buy both materials in stores. The choice is up to the home owner. When using gypsum mortar and compare it with cement mixture, then the advantage of cement is its cost, which will be lower than gypsum. When it is possible to seal the window, putty is used in any case, and after applying it, painting and wallpapering are used. The window should be puttyed only after the plaster has completely dried, after about 6-10 days.

When using a gypsum solution, the drying period is reduced to 3 days. In general, drying time depends on the indoor temperature. After each stage of work, it is necessary to remove dirt and dust from the surface, and while finishing the window, all windows must be closed.

The disadvantage of plastering is the duration of the work, because at each stage it takes time to dry. Otherwise, the slope will crack and the paint on it will peel off. Another minus of the internal and exterior finishing slopes with mortars - cracks that appear after a short period of time. How to properly plaster slopes on windows will be presented step by step below.

Preparatory work

If there is a window sill, it is better to install it before plastering the slope, otherwise you will need to knock off part of the slope from below and re-seal the flaws. Installing a window sill is simple, but before you plaster the slope on the window, you need to seal it with tape and film or paper so that it does not become dirty or damaged. The preparation of the window slope is as follows:

  • A layer of old mortar is removed from the window, after which the walls are swept with brooms so that the plaster adheres well to the surface. Otherwise, cracks will appear, even worse if the new layer simply falls off the wall.
  • It is better to cover the window frame itself with tape or tape.
  • Inside, it is better to cover the fittings on the window, as well as the radiator under the window.

  • The entire surface to be treated is primed with a deep penetration agent. This allows you to achieve maximum adhesion of materials.
  • Next, the window is left for the soil to dry out; insulation can be done if necessary. Insulate the window sill itself before installation and you can use the material for the slope. Not just any insulation for a slope is suitable; the use of polystyrene foam and expanded polystyrene is allowed.

Do-it-yourself plastering of window slopes

How to plaster slopes on windows? Initially, you will need to spray the walls with a primer to ensure good adhesion of the materials. A liquid solution is thrown onto the wall to ensure better adhesion of the further mixture. This procedure is performed over the entire surface, which will give a positive result. This method works well if the layer of putty is thick. Next, you need to plaster the window opening like this:

  • It is necessary to install slats made of wood or metal, beacons that are sold in any store. They are mounted on mortar, but this does not guarantee strength, so you can use screws or dowels if the house is brick. Correctly installed slats serve as a guide for installation.

  • The beacons are attached plumb so that they do not move, due to this the slope will be good and even.
  • The main beacons have been installed, now we need to make special beacons that will level the surface of the window slope and give shape to the edges.
  • The device is easy to make. Made of smooth wood, 10-15 centimeters longer than the slope with reverse side a nail is nailed, and it is better to bite off the head using nippers so that the external or internal slope does not get scratched. The nail is driven in at a distance of 4-7mm from the lath.

  • Next, the ready-made solution is placed on the slopes, and the layer can be leveled with a small tool, moving the bar from bottom to top, bringing the surface to a level state. The remainder of the solution is removed and the slope is left to dry. This way you can plaster the window slope in one layer, but the work doesn’t end there.
  • While the plaster composition is not completely dry, it is rubbed down. The work is carried out from the top to the bottom, using translational movements.
  • After drying the solution, the slats are removed; you need to seal the holes that came from the slats with a small amount of material. After which the window slope is grouted again.

  • Next, you need to bring the surface to a perfectly smooth state; for this you need to properly plaster the walls using a special spatula. The solution is applied in several layers, each of which is rubbed down. When applying the first layer, it will be correct to install a plastic perforated corner around the perimeter of the window so that the slope has the correct shape.
  • Next, the window slope is painted in several layers.

During work, while the solution has not yet dried completely, it is necessary to use a spatula to make a furrow between the window and the slopes; the width and thickness should not be more than 5 mm. Next, a sealant or liquid plastic is used to fill the void. This move is necessary for a plastic window, because from high temperatures they expand and increase in volume, so cracks and breaks often appear in places of slopes, even if the plastering was done perfectly. The sealant will not allow the slope to deform.

At the end, you can stick a decorative corner around the perimeter of the window, which will add beauty, and in the summer you can cover the window with foil so that the heat does not enter the house or apartment. It is necessary to insulate so that the window does not freeze in winter and the warmth does not leave the house. You can choose a window design from a photo on the Internet, and you can learn in detail about the work, solution and DIY technique using the video:

I decided to install the windows myself (profile 70mm), triple glazing, my house is a private adobe, lined with brick (total thickness 400mm) At what depth should I install the windows from the outside? How to insulate and make slopes inside and outside the window after installation? Thanks in advance.

According to building regulations According to the rules, the window block must be installed to a depth of 1/3 of the thickness load-bearing wall. If your wall thickness is 400 mm, then (400:3)x2= 266 mm. This means that we measure 134 mm from the outside to the installation line of the double-glazed window and the window will stand along this line. But a problem arises here if the house is lined with brick flooring, and this is 120 mm, and between brickwork and the wall has an air gap, then it can definitely withstand installation size 134 mm may not work. Therefore, it would be correct to install the window unit almost flush with adobe wall. All gaps between the window block and the walls of the opening are filled polyurethane foam, and only with foam, not clay. Foam does not destroy the wall material; on the contrary, it fills all the smallest recesses in the walls and reliably connects the window block with the adobe. The only thing that must be done is, before using the foam, moisten with a spray bottle all surfaces of the window opening with which the foam will come into contact.

The gap on the outside of the window between the brickwork and the wall can also be foamed, and if its size allows, then thin polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam, etc. can be installed in it. Next, the surface of the slopes is leveled using plaster, a sickle mesh and finishing plaster are glued onto it. You can also additionally glue a strip of foam plastic, then a serpyanka mesh and then work on it finishing external slope.

To finish internal slopes, you can use plaster or plastic. Plaster is in most cases used to perform such work, as it has excellent characteristics.

Since your house is made of adobe and the walls of such a house breathe very well, it is best to use plaster on the slopes, which has similar properties.

Initially, the first layer of coarse-grained material is applied to the surface of the slope. plaster mixture, with its help the surface of the slopes is leveled. To obtain an even slope line, special perforated corners are installed.

After the starting putty has completely dried, a fine-grained finishing putty is applied, each layer of which is processed with sandpaper.

Depending on the surface defects of the window opening, there may be several such layers, so it is necessary to apply them in thin layers - both starting layers and finishing layers, otherwise the entire plaster may simply move away from the wall of the house and collapse. After drying, the slopes can be painted in any color.

If you use plastic. When choosing such a material, it is worth considering that plastic is a fairly airtight material and if the adobe house breathes and is not heated in cold weather, then moisture will collect under the finishing. It will not reach the surface of the plastic, but over time it may begin to destroy the structure of the building material.

Plastic is very practical and can be used in slopes on any surface. It does not absorb moisture and is very easy to clean. About its service life we can say that it ends when the plastic plate is deformed. And so the material can last a very long time.

In my own way appearance has a large assortment, and create original design slopes will not be difficult.

Plastic can be mounted on a slope only on a special sheathing, and to finish the slopes it is not necessary to make it too high. This can hide the space of the window opening itself.

To prevent moisture from collecting under this type of finish, it is worth doing preparatory work before installing it on a slope. They consist of isolation. For this purpose, lightweight materials are used, such as polystyrene foam or polyurethane foam of small thickness. They are cut and inserted into the sheathing.

You can choose plastic whose width will correspond to the width of the slope. Thus, it is possible to save money and time on finishing.

Installation of such material is quite simple. It uses a starter strip that is attached at the bottom and top of the slope and plastic strips or panels are inserted into it. The fastening elements are special locks, which are located at their end.

There are plastic sandwiches with insulation (see photo on the right), but this is not suitable for arranging slopes in your home.

Cob houses are structures with a unique ecosystem that independently regulates the level of humidity in the house and is economical to build and durable. At a time when almost everyone has already installed plastic windows, in such houses it is recommended to install or replace windows with wooden ones, which will complement the unique system adobe house. But while we are removing old windows and installing new ones, the question arises of how to make slopes on adobe walls, since ordinary materials are not suitable for adobe walls.
If after installing new windows there are wide gaps in the slopes, then they can be sealed with the power of one universal solution, here are its components:
1.two parts of sand;
2.one part of cement;
3.one third part of tile adhesive;
4.one fourth part of putty;
5.water.
You need to prepare this solution by first mixing the dry ingredients and then adding water. There is no need to make the solution in large parts, as it tightens very quickly and will need to be used within 10-15 minutes. We apply this solution to the deep sinuses of the slopes in layers of no more than 1 centimeter. Each subsequent layer can be applied 5-6 hours after the previous one, as it hardens very quickly. Thus, it is necessary to fill all the sinuses until they are equal to the general level of the slope.
When the initial preparation of the slopes has been completed, it is necessary to begin their general leveling. To do this, a plank or rail is attached to the edges of the walls, which is leveled, and the angles of the openings must be observed. When planks are placed and reinforced along the perimeter of the slopes, the space between the edge of the window and the wall is filled with the same universal solution; if the application layer is more than 1 centimeter, this must be done in two stages.
When the slopes have been leveled, you can begin to putty them. The initial putty must be carried out with a starting putty mixture, and when it dries, finish the procedure with a finishing putty and be sure to rub everything with a float and sandpaper. Now all that remains is to paint the slopes.
There is an even easier way to make slopes on adobe walls. For this purpose, such a universal material as drywall is used. With it everything is much simpler; it is cut to the size of the slopes and attached with screws to the adobe walls. Since its surface is already flat, it will quickly level the surface, which then only needs to be puttied and painted. The right approach to work will allow you to complete the work to the highest possible quality.

Slopes in an adobe house

I live in a private house, the walls of which are made of clay, and the outside of the house is lined with brick. While carrying out renovations in the house, we decided to replace the windows; the guys from the company that carried out the replacement did everything carefully. But there were problems with the slopes. The thing is that when building such houses, they first build a log frame, and then fill it with clay and get the walls of the house. So it turned out that there was clay on the slopes and the beams of the house frame protruded. The photo shows the beginning of the restoration of the destroyed slopes.

Restore slopes with ordinary cement - sand mortar it's pointless, it won't stick to clay, but how to cook clay mortar I don't know. Then I decided to assemble a metal profile and sew up the slopes with plasterboard, and the resulting space between the plasterboard and the wall. I have some experience working with drywall. The photo shows a UD profile jumper attached to a direct suspension.

First of all, I screwed the UD profile around the perimeter of the window. At the bottom of the slope, using wood screws, it was attached directly to the window sill. Vertically, the UD profile was attached to direct hangers, and the hangers themselves were secured to the wall with a dowel - a 6x110mm nail. The profile was attached to the upper slope (horizontal) with wood screws directly to the wooden beam.

In the photo, the slopes are insulated with mineral wool.

The second step was the installation of the CD profile, which is inserted into the UD profile. CD was used mainly for horizontal jumpers. The profiles were connected to each other using a press washer.

When I bought the insulation (mineral wool), the seller recommended some kind that mice do not eat (I don’t remember the exact labeling), I thought that this was exactly what was needed for a private home. But mice eat polystyrene foam. Knowing that all this cotton wool causes skin irritation upon contact, and also has small particles that cause a sore throat and cough, I used gloves and a respirator when working with cotton wool. In a word, when working with mineral wool it is necessary to use products personal protection. The cotton wool was tightly laid in a thick layer between the profile frame and the walls.

The photo shows the restored slopes.

Then, construction knife I cut out strips of plasterboard, and using metal screws, screwed the plasterboard onto a frame made of profiles. Next, using a stapler, on external corners I attached a reinforced corner. Next it was time to putty and paint.

I should note that in this case, drywall was the simplest and perhaps the only, given the characteristics of the house, method of finishing the slopes. I liked the result of the work.

Window sills as an important component of an apartment. Various designs apartments, allows you to use window sills in different qualities, in some options they can...

How to make slopes on windows? This question worries many who, after replacing window structures, are faced with such a problem. Indeed, serious work remains to be done to make the surfaces reliable and beautiful. It is worth considering that slopes are not only decorative, but also protective function. Therefore, it is necessary to approach this with utmost care. If you make mistakes or do the work poorly, a lot of troubles will arise.

Window slopes are an integral part of any room. Some believe that minimal attention can be paid to such a design. But this is a misconception that leads to aesthetic and practical problems. The fact is that internal slopes perform a number of important functions:

  1. Maintain a certain microclimate. Slopes prevent heat from escaping from the room to the outside, as well as preventing cold from penetrating inside. Naturally, protection from moisture, which leads to the formation of condensation, cannot be ruled out.
  2. Extend the service life of all structures. That is why such finishing should be carried out in short time. Of course, you can still delay installation indoors, but outside, installing slopes is required within a minimum time.
  3. They create an excellent decorative component. Installing slopes on windows can be considered one of the main components harmonious interior. You can install beautiful metal-plastic frames, but if they are not properly refined, they will lose their sophistication.

Therefore, when performing all the work yourself, you must comply with all technological nuances and rules. Then you can be sure that you will get a reliable and durable coating, which will please the eye.

Design Features

The design of slopes has its own characteristics. The fact is that it is necessary to take into account the main nuances that must be done when working with your own hands:

  • The structure should be finished so that the edge of the frame is covered quite a bit.
  • It is necessary to take into account the location of hinges and opening doors.
  • The foam is trimmed flush with the frame. If you remove more of the substance than required, the structure may become distorted. Also, any bulging residue will interfere with the finishing process.
  • Particular attention is paid to the installation seam. The option that will be used for cladding the window slopes depends on its thickness.
  • The sealing process is very important point. All places must be well coated.

But how to finish the slopes, the location outside the room? The technology is almost completely consistent internal work. But the obligatory and most important rule will be to install a low tide.

Finish options

It is customary to distinguish two main cladding options, which differ in the materials used.

Cladding with panel products

This technology assumes that materials will be used that are cut into panels of the required size.

When choosing this method, the following features should be taken into account:

  1. Quality of material. It is necessary to carefully select the products used. The fact is that if you install a low-quality option, then problems will begin to arise during the installation process. For example, cheap plastic is characterized by the fact that it crumbles and cracks when cut, and after installation it does not retain its good appearance for long.
  2. Correct insulation and processing technology. When installing panel products, voids often appear, which can serve as an opportunity for the development of fungus and mold. Such places are a source of cold penetration. Therefore, surfaces need pre-treatment and laying insulation, the choice of which depends on the specific situation.
  3. Careful measurement. The main mistake that can happen is inaccuracies in measurements. If you do not take into account the location of the parts, wide joints will form that cannot be hidden even with decorative moldings.
  4. Finishing. The installation of slopes made of panel products must be combined with correct selection decorative elements. For subsequent finishing, you can use special profiles and corners, as well as putty external joints. When installing overhead fragments, it is important to make the correct trim so that all joints are equal.

On a note! To produce the most accurate parts for window slopes, two methods are used. The first is to simply measure and transfer data to the material, the second is to create stencils. This method is much more accurate, but requires more time, because it is necessary to perform a stencil at each stage of the work.

Application of the solution

Such work involves applying a certain layer of prepared mortar to the windows yourself, which completely covers the entire surface of the slopes. This option is considered the most traditional. His distinctive feature is cheapness.

Finishing can be carried out according to two main scenarios:

  1. Traditional. The surface is finished with a mixture that is leveled at a certain angle.
  2. With additional insulation. This technology involves the use of foam, which serves as the base. In reality, this option can be fraught with many problems. Improper installation of insulation is a guarantee that numerous cracks and peelings will appear.

Preparatory activities

Before wondering how to properly make slopes, you should thoroughly prepare the surface. The amount of work depends on the specific situation. There is a general order that must be followed:

Slope manufacturing technology

How to finish the slopes? There are basic materials that are used for such work:

  • plastic PVC panels for walls;
  • sandwich panels;
  • plaster.

Each option is selected based on several reasons:

  • Distance from wall to window frame. That is, the thickness of the assembly seam.
  • Width of plots.
  • Financial expenses.

Considering that the master must perform all the work himself, the option that will be most acceptable is chosen.

PVC panels for walls

PVC panels are the most popular material for finishing window slopes

This material is used most often, especially if needed. There are several reasons for this:

  1. Cheapness. Modern technologies allow us to produce products that are accessible to everyone.
  2. Practicality. If you choose materials that do not belong to the category of economy, then they are unpretentious in operation and last quite a long time.
  3. Easy to install. The work is completed quickly, without the use of complex tools.

Installation of slopes from plastic panels carried out according to the following instructions:

But the window decoration is not finished yet. A number of finishing manipulations should be performed. They consist in the fact that all joints are well coated with sealant. Installed from the outside decorative corners. They must be trimmed correctly in order to join at an angle of 90 degrees.

When a dilemma arises about which slopes are better, many proposals and opinions may arise. But it is undeniable that it is better to make slopes from sandwich panels. They combine all the positive qualities of PVC materials, but have additional advantages:

  • The products include a reliable layer of protection (one or two), as well as a layer of insulation. This avoids the need to use additional material.
  • They are resistant to various influences, due to which their service life is practically unlimited.
  • Have excellent decorative look. Indeed, such panels are superior in appearance to wall products. In addition, this material can be made in a fairly wide size, which is ideal for large openings.

Making slopes on windows with your own hands using such products is quite simple. It must be taken into account that this option is excellent in cases where the thickness of the installation seam is minimal. Three-layer material is used for work.

Let's look at how to install slopes from sandwich panels. Everything is done as follows:

Using plaster

Previously, there were no questions about how to make slopes on windows. After all, there was only one option, which was to use plaster. This method is quite convenient and practical, but requires skills. This need arises due to the fact that it is necessary to correctly display all the planes and maintain the angle of inclination. Although, if you practice a little and understand how best to apply the mixture, then plastering work will not cause any particular difficulties.

The general technology is as follows:

The result is an excellent coating that is highly reliable. The undoubted advantage of this option is that each completed section can be repaired and the decorative layer can be changed.

Conclusion

Summarizing the above, we can conclude that there are various options finishing of window slopes, which depend on the specific situation and financial capabilities. The main thing is to initially carry out all the work efficiently, observing all the nuances.
