Moisture-resistant gypsum fiber sheet (gvlv) "Knauf": technical characteristics, application. Which drywall to choose for finishing? GVL from Knauf

Among finishing materials In the latest generation, gypsum fiber boards are gaining popularity, providing new opportunities in the field of construction and repair. High strength, environmental friendliness and installation characteristics bring the material to the forefront in the unspoken ratings of professionals.

A special place in them occupies Knauf products, the range of which can satisfy the needs of different tastes. One of the most interesting representatives of the company’s product line is moisture-resistant gypsum fiber sheet (GVLV) or gypsum fiber 1200x2500 10mm.

GVLV manufacturer Knauf

This is an environmentally friendly, high quality product. Knauf gypsum fiber is produced by pressing a gypsum mixture with paper fibers. The process takes place under high pressure and temperature. The composition provides increased characteristics strength, sound insulation and fire resistance. On one side, the sheet has a polished surface, impregnated with a special compound that prevents the material from crumbling. The composition provides GVLV with fire-retardant qualities and at the same time moisture resistance.

Dimensions, markings, storage

GVLV Knauf is supplied in the following sizes: large format - 2500x1200 mm and small format - 1200x1200 mm. The thickness of the large format sheet is 12.5 or 10 mm, and the small one is 10 mm. The area of one large-format sheet (1200x2500 mm) is 3 square meters. m. One package can contain 40 or 50 sheets at once. GVLV color is light gray. Marking blue on back side sheet determines the necessary data on its type, geometric dimensions and edge shape.

Types of edges

GVLV 1200x2500 10mm is available with edges: straight (PC) and folded (FC).

Straight-edge gypsum fiber is suitable for flooring, and rebated gypsum fiber is suitable for sheathing frames. When installing the floor, maximum seamless overlap of sheets is ensured. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what the edge is. In the case of sheathing, you will have to join the sheets and putty the seams. The minimum seam is ensured by the FC edge.

Specifications

GVLV canvas Knauf belongs to low flammable (group G1), poorly flammable (group B1), unable to emit smoke (smoke generation group D1), spread flame (group RP 1) non-toxic materials (group T1).

Physical characteristics of GVLV

The composition provides GVLV with the following physical properties:

  • Weight of one sq. meter of sheet is 10.8 kg.
  • High thermal conductivity (thermal conductivity coefficient 0.36).
  • High bending strength.
  • High hardness (not less than 20 MPa according to Brinell).
  • The leaf absorbs water at a rate of less than 1 kg/m per hour.
  • High vapor impermeability (coefficient – 0.12 Mg/m h Pa).
  • Low natural radiation.

Scope of application

  • Any degree of fire resistance and fire safety;
  • All types of structures;
  • With different number of floors;
  • Any climatic and geological conditions of construction.

First of all, moisture-resistant gypsum fiber is intended for wet areas buildings with a slightly aggressive environment. Recommended for use for:

  • Fire protection of escape routes;
  • Construction of floors, wall cladding and partitions;
  • Wooden attics and ceilings;
  • Mines and cable channels;
  • Bulk floor screeds;
  • Soundproofing protection;

GVLV with a FC edge is better suited for covering frames. The result is a flat surface with seams of minimal width, which leads to saving putty, time, effort and money.

Attic sheathed with GVLV

The procedure for working with GVLV 1200x2500 10 mm is standard and practically no different from the process with other types of slabs:

  • The position of the structure on the floor and ceiling is marked.
  • Guide profiles are attached.
  • Wall profiles are inserted into the guides and connected.
  • Electrical wiring and fixing elements are laid in the frame.
  • GVLV installation is carried out on one side.
  • Soundproofing material is laid.
  • The GVLV installation is being carried out on the other side.
  • Seams and holes from self-tapping screws are sealed (it is recommended to use Fugenfüller GV).

Cut the slabs on a flat surface. This is done with a knife, hacksaw or electric jigsaw. If cutting with a knife, use a metal ruler. It is applied to the incision line with a depth of up to 1.5 mm. Then they separate the sheet, breaking it slightly. The edge is cleaned with a plane. To create shaped slots, take a round cutter or jigsaw. A chamfer 3 cm wide and 2 mm deep is removed from the edges at the ends. If one layer of GVLV is planned, the end joints are equipped with inserts. When executed two-layer installation, it is not necessary to do this.

Installation

Self-tapping screws with a diameter of 3.9 mm are used to fasten the sheets. The length of the screws and the pitch of their installation depend on the type of structure.

Knauf floor installation

It is recommended to do the covering in several layers in one day. For a single-layer structure, the preferred pitch for screwing in the screws is 25 cm (the length of the screw is 3 cm). If there are two layers, the pitch for each will be different: for the first - 75 cm (screw 30 mm), and for the second - 25 cm (screw 45 mm long). When there are three layers, the step for the first is 75 cm, for the second – 50 cm and for the third – 25 cm (screw 55 mm long).

Self-tapping screws are screwed in from the edge no closer than 1 cm. The screw heads are recessed 1 mm into the depth of the sheet so that the self-tapping screw fits into metal profile no less than 1 cm, and in a wooden one - 2 cm. If the screw is bent or screwed in incorrectly, it is replaced with another. It is screwed in no closer than 5 cm from the landing site of the defective one.

The floor screed is installed when the air temperature in the room is above +10 degrees. Before starting work, the slabs must lie in the same room or with the same conditions for at least 24 hours.

The slabs are fastened using self-tapping screws 19 mm long or longer if space allows. Can be used in lengths up to 30 mm.

Before puttingtying the joints, they are treated with Knauf-Tiefengrund primer, and the edges and entry points of the screws are puttied with Fugenfüller GV or others similar, for example, Knauf-Uniflot.

The video shows the installation of Knauf cladding:

There is no need to reinforce internal joints. The seam edge of the outer layer is protected paper tape or serpyanka. The putty is applied in two or three layers. The holes from the screws are covered with one layer. Then the floor is sanded and primed.

If the floor is laid in a very damp room, for example, in a bathroom, the joints are protected with Knauf Flachendicht band waterproofing tape, and the floor is well coated with mastic such as Knauf Flachendicht.

Advantages of GVLV

  • Increased moisture resistance.
  • Increased fire resistance.
  • Elimination of wet processes.
  • Simplicity and ease of use, thereby increasing productivity.
  • Savings due to speeding up the construction of the building.
  • Highly environmentally friendly and good microclimate.
  • GVLV is able to absorb moisture when there is a lot of it, and then release the excess.
  • Absence toxic substances and the presence of acidity comparable to that of human skin.
  • Compliance with international standards.

Recently, it is increasingly recommended to use GVL for wall cladding. Someone gives gypsum fiber special properties: it does not burn in fire and does not sink in water. Is this true?

Let's consider all the characteristics of gvl

The main difference between gypsum board and plasterboard lies in the manufacturing technology. Drywall consists of two layers of cardboard and gypsum filler between them. And for gypsum plasterboard, waste paper fibers are evenly distributed throughout the entire volume of the gypsum mixture and pressed into the form of a sheet. This explains the increased strength and high fire resistance technical specifications GVL.

In case of fire plasterboard sheets They cannot stay on the frame, the cardboard burns. GVL is recommended for all types of buildings and any degree of required fire resistance, including for cladding walls and ceilings along possible escape routes.

During production, the sheets are ground and treated with a special anti-chalking compound. I note that when cutting gypsum fiber boards with a jigsaw, a lot of dust arises.

Indelible markings on the back side will help determine the type of sheet and its size (thickness). In addition, the type of edge is indicated.

There are two types of edges.

GVL Knauf with a straight edge or, is used only for prefabricated dry floor screed.

GVL with a folded edge (FC) is used for installation of partitions, walls and ceilings.

GVL KNAUF

Used in dry rooms with normal humidity to perform:

  • Fireproof cladding of load-bearing (enclosing) structures
  • Soundproofing walls and other elements
  • Dry floor screed

GVLV KNAUF

It differs from the previous type in increased moisture resistance due to treatment with a water repellent. GVL characteristics in numbers, possible water absorption of 1 sq.m. the outer surface looks like this: no more than 1 liter of water per hour.

That is, in bathrooms, showers and kitchens it is best to use GVLV (moisture-resistant gypsum fiber sheet), and not plasterboard!

To use moisture-resistant drywall, a prerequisite is the presence exhaust ventilation and waterproofing protection of the front surface!

It is also worth noting that moisture resistant, this does not mean that GVLV or GKLV are not afraid of water. They only have reduced moisture absorption. For wet operating conditions of premises (showers, sinks, basements) Aquapanel is used.

The procedure for installing the frame is exactly the same. Used to secure sheets special screws for GVL. They have a double-start thread and a countersinking head, which will allow the self-tapping screw to be recessed to the required 1-2mm.

Before installation, gypsum fiber sheets must undergo acclimatization! Double-layer sheathing is installed within one working day.

Before sealing the joints, be sure to prime with Tiefengrund. similar to plasterboard and is produced only with the help of: Uniflot or Fugen GV (special for gypsum fiber)! Others are not allowed.

The front surface in areas of direct exposure to water (shower area, sinks) is protected with Flechendicht coating waterproofing.

Additional characteristics of GVL

I would like to note on my own: GVL has a hard surface, but is very brittle when bending at a length of 2500 mm. When unloading and installing, place the sheets on edge and only then transfer them.

When arranging a house or apartment, you want to provide yourself and your loved ones with comfort and coziness, preserve the effect of fresh renovation for a long time and guarantee good relations with your closest neighbors. For such noble goals, it is necessary to choose quality products and, as they say, approach the matter with full responsibility and intelligence. To make your dream renovation a reality, you need to know in what cases to use certain materials for interior decoration premises.

Recently, this has become increasingly popular universal solution, like gypsum fiber KNAUF supersheet (GVL). After all, with its help you can not only level walls, sheathe ceilings, but also lay floors, and also make interior partitions to achieve high-quality sound insulation of individual rooms.

For safety and comfort

Gypsum fiber KNAUF supersheet is made by pressing gypsum and fibers of fluffed waste paper, which are evenly distributed throughout the entire volume of the sheet, giving it increased impact resistance.

Another important property is fire resistance, due to which gypsum fiber is, among other things, recommended for finishing rooms with high safety requirements. For example, KNAUF supersheet is often used to cover wooden surfaces to provide them with additional protection from fire. In addition, facial and back side gypsum fiber KNAUF supersheet is treated with an effective water repellent, sanded and coated with anti-chalking impregnation.

For health

The environmental friendliness of the material deserves special attention: gypsum is odorless and chemically neutral, does not contain toxic components and harmful substances. It is known that gypsum is used in medicine, because its acidity corresponds to the acidity of human skin. Another remarkable property is the ability of gypsum fiber to maintain a favorable microclimate in the house. The material seems to breathe, absorbing excess moisture in the room and subsequently releasing it again if the air becomes excessively dry.

To implement any ideas

The advantage of KNAUF supersheets is their versatility. They are well suited for creating the perfect suspended ceiling, including those with multi-level integrated lighting.

Using gypsum fiber, you can easily divide a room into several rooms or, for example, separate a strict study from a cozy living room. Such a partition (I mean, diagram) will provide high sound insulation and cope with the zoning function no worse than a thick brick wall.

In addition, KNAUF superlist - waterproof material. It can be used to update the bathroom, basement, other places with high humidity. It is necessary to choose a moisture-resistant version of KNAUF supersheet (GVLV), which has reduced water absorption.

Knauf superlists have high performance characteristics and thanks to their increased strength, they can withstand heavy decorative elements and home appliances, so you can safely mount wall niches from them and use them as full-fledged storage places - shelves for books, dishes, collections of your favorite items.

It is important to note: KNAUF supersheet is a material that is suitable for any finishing coating: wood, tiles, mosaic, wallpaper, decorative plaster. Use your imagination!

Knauf Superlist – questions and answers

When it comes to flooring during renovations, the main question for residents and builders is: what and how to level it? And also - how to do this quickly and efficiently?

Modern market building materials It is developing dynamically and almost every year new technologies and mixtures are offered to builders. There are several dozen flooring options. One of the most practical methods for leveling the floor base is the KNAUF-superfloor technology. An important difference between this “dry” screed is that just a day after installation you can begin laying the finishing coating.

KNAUF-superfloor design - what is it?

In short, this is a prefabricated system consisting of gypsum fiber sheets (floor elements, or EP for short) and dry expanded clay backfill INDUF. Floor elements are produced by KNAUF enterprises and are a slab of two moisture-resistant gypsum fiber sheets (1,200 * 600 * 10 mm) glued together with displacement, with folds thus formed 50 mm wide along the perimeter of the products. The total thickness of the EP is 20 mm.

The KNAUF-superfloor system is used on both wooden and concrete foundations And

Now we will dwell on the advantages of using the Knauf-superfloor design, answering questions asked to us at different times.

1. No wet processes

Question: We decided to renovate our apartment. Naturally, we want to meet the minimum deadlines, since we will live here during the renovation. But there is a problem: removing the laminate. We discovered that over time the old cement screed had sagged and cracked. I understand that there is no point in laying a new laminate on such a base, but I also don’t want to re-make the screed, since I will have to wait more than a month for it to dry.

And we have nowhere to go. Tell me what to do in this situation?

Answer: that’s right, long drying times are the constant companions of traditional screeds. If old screed cracked, it is better to dismantle it and make a new one.

The technology involves the installation of high-strength pop elements consisting of gypsum-fiber moisture-resistant sheets (GVLV). which are laid on a layer of special expanded clay backfill. This technology allows you to completely eliminate “wet” processes and begin laying the finishing coating (for example, laminate) just a day after installation.

2. Light weight designs

Question: It is necessary to update the screed in an old house. Due to large differences, the average thickness will be 7-8 cm. We planned to use cement sand mixture, but we are afraid, since the floor beams are wooden, and the average weight by 1 mg will increase by more than 160 kg. Please recommend any alternative solutions.

Answer: the most simple solution in this situation, the technology for constructing a cement-sand screed will be replaced with the technology of a dry prefabricated floor KNAUF-superfloor. The use of special expanded clay and floor elements (EP) made of gypsum fiber moisture-resistant sheets (GVLV) will minimize the load on load-bearing structures. So, with a screed thickness of 8 cm per 1 m’ there will be a little more than 60 kg of additional weight.

3. Sound and heat insulation, environmental friendliness

Question: bought new home in a cottage village. The house is two-story. On the second floor we want to arrange two children's rooms (we have children 6 and 8 years old). We met our neighbors - a young family like us. It was they who suggested to us (thanks to them!) that it is necessary to soundproof the floor in the nurseries if we want to “sleep peacefully” (we plan to arrange our bedroom right under the children’s rooms, on the first floor). After all, children will jump, run, scream, play with a ball (son - that’s for sure). Now my husband and I are racking our brains about what decision to make. In addition, it is important for me that the new floor is also warm and environmentally friendly. Perhaps I'm too demanding, but is there such a solution?

Answer: your problem can be solved using a dry prefabricated KNAUF-superfloor screed: the two main components of the system are floor elements (EP) made of gypsum fiber and a special KNAUF expanded clay backfill. This flooring is definitely environmentally friendly and has excellent sound and heat insulating properties. In addition, it is impact-resistant (gypsum fiber is very durable material, and this is important for children), can withstand heavy loads. A day after installation, you can begin laying the topcoat. Yes. and you are lucky to have neighbors, congratulations!

4. Strength and durability

Question: bought new apartment and began repairs. As a butt screed for styling parquet board I decided to use KNAUF-superfloor. After viewing the technology of the device on the Internet, the question arose as to how reliable and durable such a system is. Will the floor elements break if I place on them? bookshelf, For example?

Answer: in Russia, the KNAUF-superfloor design has been used for more than 20 years. During this time, she has established herself exclusively with positive side. And what could be better proof than years of operation? If we talk about strength, then KNAUF superfloor can withstand a load of at least 220 kg per cm 2. Not every self-leveling floor or cement screed can boast of this indicator. KNAUF superfloor will be a reliable base both for laying parquet boards and for other finishing coatings.

5. Hiding communications

Question: I want to consult with experts on next question. We bought an apartment in a new building and are planning renovations. Is it possible to lay electrical wiring in a backfill screed and how to do it correctly?

Answer: the design of the KNAUF superfloor is such that it is quite possible to lay communications in it, but some rules must be followed. First of all, it is recommended to remove the nabels into the corrugation to protect them from external influences. The corrugation is laid not on the backfill, but on the base floor (ceiling); the minimum layer of expanded clay chips above the pipe should be at least 2 cm thick. Remember also that the backfill should flow evenly around the corrugation on all sides without voids.

The very concept of “plasterboard” is quite broad, since it includes several types of this material. They differ significantly in operating conditions, and, accordingly, in their composition. In addition, there is such a thing as a “fiber supersheet”. Such material has a number of advantages compared to gypsum board and, according to the Knauf classification, is divided into:

  • superlist (gvl);
  • moisture-resistant supersheet (gvlv);
  • small format supersheet.

Each of the above options is characterized by increased mechanical strength, excellent sound insulation, fire resistance and has a special fibrous structure. The latter property allows you to carefully cut drywall and process edges without much effort.

Technical characteristics of gvl (gvlv)

Gypsum plasterboard supersheet has special properties that allow it to be used not only for covering walls, ceilings, but also for floors! Thanks to a high-quality mixture of fiber and gypsum, as well as a special anti-chalking impregnation, supersheet can be used in buildings and premises for any purpose. The only one fundamental difference in the use of gvl and moisture-resistant gvl is the possibility of installing the latter in places with high humidity. All main parameters of the sheets are given in Table 1.

Table 1. Characteristics of gvl supersheet (gvlv)

Parameter Meaning Units of measurement
Dimensions 2500x1200x10 2500x1200x12.5 mm
Weight 1 sq.m. (sheet thickness 10 mm) ≥ 10.8 kg
Weight 1 sq.m. (sheet thickness 12.5 mm) ≥ 15.62 kg
Thermal conductivity 0.22-0.36 W/m °C
Parameter Meaning Units of measurement
Heat absorption ≤ 6.2 W/m °C
Bending strength ≥ 5.3 MPa
Brinell hardness ≥ 20 MPa
Humidity ≤ 1.5 %

The moisture-resistant material differs from standard gypsum plasterboard in that its surface on both sides is treated with a special water-repellent agent. This allows it to be used in rooms with any degree of humidity.

If we talk about the properties of the materials, they are very similar. The dimensions and weight of moisture-resistant gypsum board are the same as those of a standard supersheet. The following characteristics are also identical: humidity, Brinell hardness, flexural strength and thermal conductivity gvl and gvlv. At the same time, the range of applications for moisture-resistant drywall is wider than standard, since even in the bathroom it will “stand idle” for its entire service life.

Advantages and application of moisture-resistant supersheet

Fibrous gypsum board has all the advantages of conventional drywall:

  • environmental friendliness;
  • high heat and sound insulation;
  • non-flammability;
  • mechanical strength and abrasion resistance;
  • ease of installation.

It has only two drawbacks: price and significant weight of the gvl (gvlv) sheet. The first problem can be solved by minimizing waste, and the second can be solved by using a good assistant during the installation process.

Apply moisture resistant drywall can be used in almost any type of building. Main use cases:

  • in places with a high fire hazard as wall and ceiling cladding;
  • for cladding attics, balconies and basements (if ventilation is available);
  • for the construction of partitions in apartments with high humidity (for example, in bathrooms);
  • for unheated premises;
  • for prefabricated floor subfloors.

Installation of gvlv on the floor

The slabs can be laid on almost any base: reinforced concrete or wood. For these purposes the best option will be the use of a 12 mm thick gypsum board sheet. The order of work will be as follows:

If you need to install bathroom floors, you should definitely treat the joints with waterproofing tape. This will help avoid moisture ingress and protect the structure from premature destruction.

Of course, gvlv is a “new word” in the development of the construction business. It is especially convenient to use this material during DIY repairs, as it is very easy to process. Moreover, the market offers gypsum board sheets of various thicknesses and sizes, which significantly optimizes marking and installation work.

The only one important point– you should not purchase materials from dubious manufacturers whose reputation on the market is not confirmed by real documents. After all, compliance with GOST sheets gvl and gvlv is the main guarantee of the quality and safety of the entire structure. Nobody wants to redo most of it a couple of tapes after the repair. I would like to hear the opinion of experienced drywall craftsmen on how to avoid the most common mistakes.

When conducting repair work Drywall sheets have been used for quite some time. But technological progress does not stand still, and currently a similar, but more convenient and quality material– gypsum fiber sheets (GVL). They are used to level walls, ceilings and floors, gradually replacing the usual drywall. Moisture-resistant GVL not only has a wider range of applications, but is also much more convenient to use.

What is the difference between gypsum fiber sheets and conventional drywall?

Advantages of gypsum fiber material

What advantages does this have regarding new look finishing material?

  • Higher strength compared to plasterboard due to uniform distribution of cellulose fibers.
  • High fire safety. GVL do not light up. In addition, sheets of drywall simply crumble down if the outer layers are destroyed by fire. This will not happen with gypsum fiber.
  • The slabs are simply installed, just like drywall. The size of the elements is also the same. So fastening the GVL will not cause any particular difficulties.
  • Due to special additives, waterproof gypsum fiber board has excellent resistance to moisture, which significantly expands the scope of its application.
  • Good noise insulation parameters.
  • Unlike drywall, which crumbles during processing, gypsum plasterboard can be processed without any problems with ordinary tools. You can also screw screws into it and even drive nails!

Avoid large quantity You can avoid dust when cutting sheets by moistening the blade of a hacksaw or jigsaw with water.

  • Gypsum fiber is more resistant to impact negative temperatures. They can withstand up to 16 cycles of freezing and subsequent thawing. For drywall, this parameter does not exceed 4 cycles, after which the material is destroyed.

There are also disadvantages when compared with drywall:

  • Denser gypsum fiber sheets are significantly heavier.
  • The cost of such material is also higher than conventional gypsum boards.
  • Gypsum fiber sheets are not as flexible, so they are not used in the construction of various curved structures.

GVL parameters

On sale you can find sheets having the following sizes:

  • Length – 1500, 2000, 2500, 2700 and 3000 mm.
  • Width – 500, 1000 or 1200 mm.
  • The most common thickness is 10 mm. This size can also have values of 15, 18 and 20 mm.

Small-format GVLVs with a size of 1500 × 1000 mm are very popular among professionals. The use of such material is most convenient, since working with large sheets difficult due to their considerable weight. Depending on the size, such an element can weigh 35–45 kg, so it is quite problematic to cope with its installation alone.

Depending on the location of fastening of gypsum fiber sheets, they are divided into two types:

  • To level the floor - sheets with a straight edge.
  • For walls or ceilings - gypsum fiber board with a seam edge.

Marking

All parameters of gypsum fiber sheets are indicated on the marking. Therefore, it is important to understand and understand what it means. For example, the marking on the sheet looks like this: GVLV-A-FK-2000˟1000˟10. What does it mean?

  1. GVLV is a type of gypsum fiber. In this case, it is a moisture-resistant sheet, as shown by symbol B.
  2. A – manufacturing accuracy. For our example, it is the highest. Sheets marked B are made with large deviations.
  3. FC – edge type. In this case, it is a folded edge; the abbreviation PC will mean straight.
  4. 2000˟1000˟10 – sheet size, respectively its length, width and thickness.

After such marking, the standard according to which the material is made is usually indicated. But few people pay attention to this parameter, so there is no point in dwelling on it in detail.

Where are gypsum fiber sheets used?

The technical characteristics of GVLV have led to its use in a wide variety of conditions. They can be used for the following purposes:

  • For finishing unheated and non-residential premises: balconies, loggias, attics, attics, terraces and basements. Due to its resistance to freezing, gypsum fiber does not lose its properties in such conditions. The only prerequisite is the presence of good ventilation.
  • For leveling floors. Waterproof GVL will significantly reduce the time of this process compared to using cement screed. If you use the latter, you will have to wait at least a month before the cement hardens.
  • For finishing walls and ceilings of rooms, including those with high humidity. The special value of GVLV is that you can easily attach finishing or decorative elements to them. You can even screw them on door hinges, without fear that the screws will pop out under load.

In a word, the material is almost universal and can not only replace drywall, but also achieve significant benefits when used as a repair material.

Knauf products

In Russia, the products of this particular type have become most popular. German company. GVLV Knauf are different high quality and are presented in any reputable building materials store. Excellent characteristics did not significantly affect the price of the material, which remained at a fairly acceptable level. So, it will cost about 450 rubles “ Knauf Superlist» moisture resistant, GVLV size is 2500˟1200˟10. It is not surprising that professionals prefer the products of this particular company.
