Do-it-yourself table for feeding a baby drawings. Do-it-yourself high chair or how to make a do-it-yourself transformer chair for feeding a child from wood. Folding wooden baby highchair for feeding with your own hands - preparing

  • Making a wooden chair
    • Stage 1: we make parts
  • How to make a mobile feeding chair?
    • Step 1: make a pattern
    • Step 2: sewing a baby chair

With the birth of a baby, his parents have a lot of worries. One of them is the purchase of a chair for feeding. Meanwhile, it is quite expensive in children's stores. In order to save on its purchase, you can try to make a high chair with your own hands. By and large, there is nothing complicated here. The main thing is to adhere to the recommendations presented, act step by step and carefully study the drawing.

The main thing to remember when making a highchair for a child is safety. The design must be strong and stable.

Making a wooden chair

Before you make a highchair, you should prepare the following tools and materials:

  • saw;
  • a hammer;
  • bars with a section of 400x200 mm;
  • board (thickness 20 mm);
  • fiberboard sheet;
  • nails;
  • batting;
  • dowels;
  • the cloth;
  • glue;
  • brush;
  • sandpaper;
  • gloves to protect your hands from splinters during work;
  • plywood.

You will also need to purchase paintwork material. But you need to choose non-toxic. One that has an acrylic base will do. Such paints are modern and safe.

Stage 1: we make parts

Drawing of a children's chair.

It is necessary to start making a highchair with the manufacture of parts for it. You will need to do the following:

  • 4 legs (length 390 mm);
  • 2 bottom rails (length 340 mm);
  • 3 crossbars (length 300 mm);
  • top rails (length 220 mm);
  • 1 small tabletop (dimensions 200x340 mm);
  • 4 rounded elements.

To make such details, you need to take the bars and cut them in half. From them, legs are first created, then the upper and lower crossbars, and then the crossbars. They will need to be treated with sandpaper to prevent splinters from appearing in the baby, because he will grab the handles for all the details of the chair.

Now you can move on to creating rounded elements for the sidewalls. They need to be cut out of the board in order to get the most durable and reliable chair, a drawing of these parts is presented.

It will be necessary to make wooden board similar markup. The scheme must be drawn so that the fibers of the material are perpendicular to the bend angle. Then the finished part will not lose its strength over time.

The back and seats need to be cut out of fiberboard. From it you will need to make 6 parts. Their size should be as follows, 300 * 250 mm. They should have two rounded corners. The ends of such parts will need to be carefully sanded. After that, it will be necessary to glue 3 identical parts together, and then put them under a press. And the last thing that needs to be done is to cut the countertop out of plywood. Its size should be as follows: dimensions 200x340 mm.

Stage 2: we assemble the chair

Now you can start assembling the high chair. First you need to make rectangular dowels. They are carved from wood. Their size should be 8 * 20 * 50 mm. Under them in the details it will be necessary to make holes up to 40 mm deep.

They will need to be fixed with glue, and then additionally with nails. But it will be necessary to sink their hat into the surface of the wood - this will eliminate the occurrence of injuries and cuts in the child.

Diagram of a baby chair.

Start assembling the highchair from the sidewall. It consists of 2 rounded parts, legs and bottom rails. First of all, the last 2 parts are fixed together with glue, dowel and nails. Here it is necessary to ensure that the connection occurs at an angle of 90 degrees. Then you can assemble the top crossbar and 2 roundings between them. The second sidewall will need to be made similar to the first. In this case, during assembly, it will be necessary to compare both elements several times in order to make sure that they are identical. The created sidewalls will need to be processed with sandpaper.

Next, you will need to connect the seat and back together. Here you can use screws and a corner. After that, you will need to wait until the glue on all the parts is completely dry, and then it will be possible to assemble the entire highchair.

The sidewall is connected with the help of crossbars (length 300 mm) and dowels. First you need to make holes for them. Then, in addition, the structure is fixed with nails. Then you will need to attach the legs to the lower and upper slats, and then install the crossbars. A tabletop is fixed from one of the ends.

After that, the finished structure is further processed with sandpaper. Then she covers paintwork material and left to dry. Then you will need to cover the seat and back with fabric. But first you will need to lay a batting under it and fix it with a stapler. This upholstery will allow the baby to sit on the chair with maximum comfort. On this work on its creation will be completed. Which means you can use ready product by appointment.

The difficulties in caring for children are largely due to the fact that buying everything you need can be quite a task for the family budget. Another question is whether parents manage to find exactly what they would like in stores, or in fact there is nothing ideally suitable among the assortment. Both reasons that prevent the purchase of a particular product, one way or another, suggest that it would be nice to make it yourself. For example, child chair chik- if dad has enough experience with various tools, he may well make it with his own hands.

Peculiarities

Contrary to seeming simplicity, a do-it-yourself highchair is not so simple task to perform it without any preparation. Do not start work until you have a clear understanding of how the end result should look like, and what operations will have to be performed to achieve this.

Also, don't ignore the calculations. Any chair should be strong enough to withstand its “passenger”, and the child, although not heavy, will not sit neatly on it, especially since the dimensions of such furniture are also small.

Strength requirements are relevant not only for basic materials, but also for fasteners, be it self-tapping screws, glue or grooves. In addition, the baby is constantly growing, and it makes sense to make a high chair with a margin of at least a couple of years in advance. For all its strength, the product should be comfortable, that is, approximately correspond to the dimensions of the owner.

Also try to ensure the proper lightness of the furniture being made - it should be convenient for the owner to independently move his chair to where he wants to sit at the moment.

Don't forget to stay safe. Furniture, in any case, cannot be traumatic, and children's furniture even more so. No sharp edges are allowed, and if wood is the main material, as happens in most cases, then it must be carefully sanded to avoid peeling splinters. When covering the finished product with varnish or paint, give preference to natural - children tend to put everything in their mouths, and can be poisoned by a toxic coating.

Finally, remember that this chair is for a child. Apart from suitable sizes, it is desirable for a piece of furniture to be also beautiful. If complex decor is not for you, try to at least paint it in bright colors.

Drawings, dimensions, diagrams

Before proceeding directly to the manufacture of parts, it is necessary to draw up a drawing with dimensions - this is the only way all the components will ideally fit one to the other. You can use one of those ready-made options, which are already posted on the World Wide Web, and draw up a diagram yourself. It is important to note here that there are drawings and instructions on the Internet explaining how to make a table and a chair. standard view, so they are usually not suitable for those who want to create something original - for example, an elephant chair.

  • Drawing a table and chairs, which can be made in the form of a kit, it is not necessary to strictly follow the principles of drawing: there are not so many details in them that they cannot be kept in the head. For us, the main thing is to make sure that all dimensions converge, and the parts fit perfectly with one another, but the ways of connecting individual parts must be present on the drawing. In general, it can be presented schematically, without a high accuracy of the drawing.
  • Think over the dimensions (or choose ready-made drawings based on them), based on the convenience of the child. Those chairs are considered comfortable, the seat of which is at the level of the knee or slightly lower. In the case of a highchair, it is recommended to make the seat a little higher, because the child will probably still grow. At the same time, do not overdo it: if it is difficult for the baby to climb onto the seat, then the product can be considered unsuccessful.

  • Determining the size of the seat itself, keep in mind that the owner should fit freely on it, but do not make it too big - this will make the chair heavier and difficult to carry. The normal height of the back is about two thirds or three quarters of the wearer's back, making it higher than the neck is already impractical. When determining the thickness of future parts, rely only on the strength of the selected material and the weight of the child.

materials

In terms of ease of processing and environmental friendliness among the materials for the manufacture of children's furniture, wood and its derivatives undoubtedly hold the palm. Therefore, most often you can find a wooden chair. However, you can not choose any tree - here, too, it is worth considering before proceeding with the manufacture. The most popular among all types of wood is beech. They have a strength reminiscent of oak, but are easier to work with and less expensive. In general, it is hardwoods that are considered a priority. Of the inexpensive options, birch is often chosen, you can also consider linden.

From softwood, spruce and pine are suitable for making furniture, but the resin contained in any such wood is dangerous - it can stain clothes, and it can also pose a health hazard. Regardless of the specific species, choose a homogeneous tree, without knots and cracks, with an even texture.

The material of the seat may be similar to the material of the body, or it may be fundamentally different. In order to save money and achieve greater flexibility, the seat is also made from plywood, and even from chipboard. When choosing them, give preference only to the most durable types, but remember that in any case they are inferior in terms of durability to solid natural wood.

For increased softness, the seat can be additionally equipped with a small foam cushion, sheathed with a fabric that is pleasant to the touch.

There is also such an option for sitting as made from plastic bottles - both whole and chopped. Harmful plastic, present in the form of garbage in any apartment and polluting environment, could get a second life, especially since its strength and durability are very high. This option is still much less common due to the difficulty of securely fastening individual parts, as well as the not very attractive appearance of the finished product.

Colors and decor

For all its practicality and convenience, the baby will definitely not like the chair if it cannot be described with the word “beautiful”. No one makes any special chairs for teenagers, but for children younger age brightness and attractiveness are very important. Therefore, do not limit yourself to only one colorless varnish or discreet monochromatic solutions. A solid color is generally acceptable only if a light or very bright color is chosen. bright shade- often it is red or yellow, the so-called "warm" tones.

If drawing is not alien to you, please your child with interesting design solutions. You can go the "adult" way, painting the frame in one color, and the seat and back in another, or you can focus on the children's desire for a bright and defiant one. The simplest option is the “rings” on the legs of the chair, any patterns and even just blots are also acceptable - provided that it looks cute and positive. Regardless of how much and what kind of paint you use, do not forget - it should not be toxic.

If you have a creative streak and a desire to complicate the task a little for the common good of the cause, you can perform a more complex decor. As an option, decorate the legs or the back of the chair with carvings, but adults would like this solution more. But for a child, an ornament in the form of one or another animal will be a chic solution. The classic option is when the back is cut out to resemble an elephant, or any other animal that is cute for a child, and then painted to look more like a “cartoon” character.

Covers can also become a kind of decor. In addition to their typical functions, such as simplifying the cleaning of furniture and increasing the comfort of its use, they can also decorate the back of the chair. Ideally, they should depict the child's favorite hero, characters from popular fairy tales, or the same animals. Mom can help with making a cover for dad, especially if she knows how to embroider or has skills in appliqué fabric. If the mother does not have such talents, you can simply change the cover from the clothes on which the necessary pictures were applied by the factory method.

For the youngest children

The youngest children so far sit on the highchair for only one thing - eating. It is important and necessary to teach a child to eat while sitting, and indeed to sit, in particular, at the table. However, the features of its development at this stage do not allow the use of ordinary chairs for this. The problem lies in the fact that a simple chair does not have a back with handles, and a tiny child himself will not be able to sit on it evenly, and will simply fall.

As for highchairs, their dimensions usually do not allow you to choose a normal table for them. In this situation, a special highchair for feeding will be an excellent way out.

Such furniture should be comfortable for both the child and his mother - so far the child cannot eat on his own, so the mother will have to spoon-feed him. For the convenience of this operation, the chair is made at a normal height, or even a little higher - so that the mother does not bend over. The actual period of use of such a chair is about a year, so if you have one child and the family does not plan a second one at all, you can choose not the most durable materials for manufacturing.

In terms of manufacturing, the highchair is perhaps the most complex - it has the largest number of parts. The relatively small seat is raised high above the floor, which makes it necessary to resort to installing additional stiffeners between the legs - for improved structural stability.

Given the specifics of the child of the appropriate age, both the backrest and the railing are simply necessary - they must completely exclude the possibility of the baby falling. Moreover, the barrier must also be in front, although it has another useful feature- it plays the role of a countertop on which food will be placed. The space under the tabletop is left free - the baby will stick his legs in there.

Cutting and assembling such a chair is quite simple. First, according to the drawing, two identical side halves are cut out, which are then interconnected by the seat, backrest and stiffeners using grooves, glue or self-tapping screws. Before assembly, all individual parts should be sanded to a perfectly smooth state, the finished product is varnished or painted - ready.

Models for an older child

The peculiarity of highchairs for children who have finally come out of infancy lies in a significant variety of design options, limited only by the creator's imagination. The back is still considered a mandatory attribute, but the railing is no longer there, as are the front barriers. Saving on materials in this situation is not worth it - if the furniture is made with a margin of size, then the child will be able to use his high chair for many years.

The manufacturing process consists of a few simple steps:

  • Think over the design to the smallest detail and draw up a drawing. Decide on the number of body parts - whether it will simply consist of two solid halves or from separate legs and separate supports for the seat, whether the backrest base will be a continuation of the rear legs or it is attached separately, and so on. Calculate everything, including the thickness of the seat and legs, provide stiffeners and additional supports for the seat in advance. Provide grooves, designate places for screws.
  • If doubts about the correctness of the selected parameters still remain, try to assemble a temporary cardboard chair according to the drawing. Unfortunately, it does not have the same strength to test the product from all sides, and it differs in thickness from wood or plywood, which must also be taken into account when specifying dimensions, but you will get a visual idea of the future product.

  • Start cutting out individual parts from wood or plywood. It is advised to start with the body. Well, if there are a lot of identical parts in the set, then the subsequent ones can be cut out by simply tracing the already finished first one. If your design allows, don't put off assembly until after you've cut everything out - start as soon as you have at least two pieces that need to be connected. This will help you immediately notice any design flaws, if any. After the parts are ready, sand them to a smooth state.
  • When all the elements are ready, proceed to the final assembly. Do not limit yourself to one type of fastener, in particular, glue the grooves - this will significantly strengthen the product and increase its durability. Ensure that the grooves go as deep as possible - tap on the joints with a hammer to make the fastening more reliable.
  • The last step is varnishing and staining.

No matter how detailed and intelligible the theoretical explanation is, it is unlikely to be compared in terms of informativeness with good example It's better to see once than hear a hundred times.

H and the video is one of best examples how to make a baby chair with your own hands. The master tells literally everything, including the dimensions of the parts he used, so you can even do without a drawing, just repeating what he says. The resulting chair is quite simple in design, but easy to make. You can find many other similar videos on the network, but the models there are always approximately the same, but here the process is shown in great detail and clearly.

Watch a master class on making a highchair with your own hands:

The principle of making a baby highchair, in general, is similar, but it is worth studying in more detail both because of the increased complexity of the design, and simply because another master is already talking, who can reveal some new points.

How to make a baby highchair, see the video:

Still don't know how to design a high chair yourself? Our article will help you understand all the intricacies of folding this irreplaceable piece of furniture. You will see that it is not difficult to assemble wooden children's chairs with your own hands.

Material

Before you start assembling a chair with your own hands, you should decide on the material. Of course the tree is the best choice It is completely safe and environmentally friendly. What wood to choose? Let's start with beech. Beech is considered a dense and durable tree, and it is easier to work with it than, for example, oak. If you are looking for something more budget, birch and pine - a good option. But before you start work, you should deresin the tree, since the resin, even if it is natural, is unsafe. Also, for the manufacture of a chair, you can choose plywood - good stuff made from layers of tree veneer. Plywood is not heavy and is easily processed. Chipboard - the most affordable, but at the same time, the most short-lived. It is suitable for making the tabletop of a high chair.

Training

You can find material and drawings for children's furniture at any hardware store. Dry the tree by leaving it indoors with room temperature for a day. The wood will become workable.
Are you not sure that you can make all the elements of the chair with your own hands? Contact a hardware store.

The back and seat must be rectangular shape. The side parts of the children's chair can be made and decorated as you like. Try not to make a highchair with sharp corners- they are dangerous for the child.

Material handling

Naturally, it is impossible to use the material in its original form for both an ordinary chair and a highchair. It needs to be processed. You can do it yourself or turn to professionals. The tree should be treated with manual router or regular sandpaper. With a milling cutter, processing must be carried out in transverse sections. Varnish. Get a varnish with a turpentine base - it does not contain toxic substances. After letting the varnish dry, sand the surface several times. For smoothness varnish again.

Procedure and design scheme

On the video: another version of the design of the chair. Be sure to check it out 🙂

Dowels can be used to fasten a regular chair. They are good because they can also be made from wood with your own hands. Under them, holes should be made with a diameter of 6-8 mm. Push the parts tightly onto the dowels, tapping them with a hammer. Fix with a clamp and leave for 24 hours. If you need to fix the elements of the high chair, it will be more convenient to use confirmations. Similar ties are suitable for folding a large number details.

You can make drawings and diagrams yourself or find them on a construction site. It is better to do the drawing yourself, measuring the parameters of the child. Carefully calculate the dimensions, the ratio of height and width. Of course, it is more difficult to draw a diagram for a high chair yourself, so it is better to turn to ready-made drawings.

If you've made a drawing but aren't quite sure if it's correct, test it out by folding a cardboard model of the chair.

Usually children from 1 to 6 are folded with either ordinary wooden chairs for games or activities, or a high chair. You can make your own separate small table and a chair using the blueprint.

Regular wooden chair

For a regular do-it-yourself chair, you will need the following parts:

  • 2 short legs, 2 long (53 cm high). Dimensions of 4 legs - 3.8 * 3.3 cm;
  • seat (approx. 30*30 cm);
  • backrest (6 mm thick, 22.5 cm high);
  • bars under the seat;
  • drawing of an ordinary chair.

An angle should be made from the wide parts of the high legs. Align the sides of the short legs and bars with a grinder. Take drilling machine and install a drill with a diameter of 6 mm. Measure a depth of 1.5 cm on the drill and mark it using the drawing. Drill along the long legs at an angle, making 12 holes. We select everything with a chisel from the drilled parts, make grooves. We insert the back into the grooves.

If part of the back rests, cut out a triangle, drive the back into the groove with a hammer. Make spikes from the sides of the bar and round the corners. We make grooves for spikes in the legs. Assembling the frame. If the back is too wide and does not fit into the grooves, measure and cut off the excess. Do not forget to make triangles on the sides of the back so that it sits firmly in the grooves. Do not rush to insert into the rear legs. Make a handle for the chair in the back. Mark the distance and cut a hole for the handle.

Insert the back into the frame. Now we make marks on the seat and cut it out. Sand the seat and insert into the frame.

Lubricate the holes, elements and spikes for fastening with glue, fix with clamps, leave to dry.

Wooden children's chair for feeding

You will have to spend more time and money on a wooden highchair for feeding a child. In order to make such a piece of furniture with your own hands, you will need:

  • bars with a section of 400 * 200 mm
  • board (thickness 20 mm)
  • fibreboard 2000*2100 mm in size.
  • drawing of a chair for feeding

For the chair you will need: 4 legs, 2 upper crossbars and 2 lower crossbars, 3 crossbars, a tabletop.
For the table: legs, slats, crossbars of 4 pieces, tabletop

We cut out the parts for the chair from the bars, process them with sandpaper. We cut out the elements for the chair handles from the board. We connect with the help of dowels and glue. Under the dowels, holes with a depth of 30 mm will be needed.

For the sidewall, you will need crossbars, 2 roundings, 2 legs. Lubricate the dowels and holes with glue. First, assemble the bottom bar and legs (the angle should be 90 degrees). Then we assemble the upper crossbar and two roundings. We tighten everything with a clamp. We leave for one day. The second sidewall is folded in the same way. Make sure they are the same.

Now another important step is the assembly of the seat and back. Be careful here, as children are very restless during feeding, so all details must be fixed tightly. You need 6 parts from a plate with dimensions of 300 * 250 mm. Round the corners so that the radius is 50 mm. Next, you need to do the sanding of the ends. Lubricate the parts with glue and press. You can connect the back and seat with screws. We glue the cross-bars with the sidewalls. Then you need to connect the legs with all the planks, attach the sidewalls with crossbars and fix the tabletop on one of the ends. We get a ready-made highchair for feeding.

DIY high chair

Your baby will need this high chair when he is six months old and he starts to sit up on his own. On the chair is the formation of the musculoskeletal system of your baby, and his posture. This will be his first property, thanks to which he will get acquainted with the outside world.

That is why a highchair for feeding should be not only comfortable, but also useful.

General requirements

In order for this piece of furniture to turn out to be practical and comfortable, you need to consider the following nuances:

  1. The chair should not be soft. In order for the child's skeleton to develop properly, the body must feel reliable support. But on a highchair, you need relatively thin soft pads on the seat and back.
  2. Chair material. It is important for a child to use non-toxic, natural, for example, wood, plywood, chipboard.

Important! Do not use plastic, as it contains not always harmless substances.

  1. Chair dimensions. In order for your baby to feel comfortable on the seat, you need to correctly calculate the height of the backrest and the length and width of the seat.

Important! There is a special table, which is made for children's furniture. According to this table, we determine that the height of the seat of the chair should be 20 cm, if your child's height is from 80 to 90 cm, and the width, depth is 33 and 26 cm, respectively.

Feeding chair options

The child begins to eat at the common table, starting at six months. Of course, it is necessary that the baby eats with all family members. Designed for convenience various options, but putting the baby in homemade chair, you must be sure of its safety.

Designs of children's chairs for feeding:

  1. A chair with high legs is made on long legs. Sitting in it, the baby will be on the same level with everyone sitting at the dining table.
  2. Soft cover - looks like a slim, which is attached to a regular chair. This option can be taken with you to the country or to visit.
  3. Combined chair - a small chair with restrictive rings is placed on a low table.

Material selection

For the manufacture of a chair suitable wood coniferous pine or spruce. This type quite durable and easy to process, the wood texture is pleasant to look at.

Carpentry tools:

  • nails, sandpaper;
  • loops, self-tapping screws, dowels (special connecting elements);
  • saw;
  • a hammer;
  • glue for wood;
  • fiberboard sheet, plywood;
  • fabric, batting or synthetic winterizer;
  • varnish or paint for finishing, brushes.

Important! Choose acrylic-based paint, and non-toxic varnishes on water based, because your baby can not only breathe them, but try on the tooth.

Do-it-yourself combined highchair

We offer detailed description stages of work on the manufacture of parts and assembly of a combined chair for feeding. Here you need to make a chair and a table separately. This assembled option can be used by feeding the child at a common table, and after disassembling it, you can sit the child behind it for various games and activities.

Procurement of parts

The first stage is the preparation of all the details for this chair. You need to prepare the following materials:

  • timber with a thickness of 200x400 mm - for legs and crossbars;
  • a small board with a thickness of 200-250 mm - for cutting out armrests;
  • fiberboard sheet 2x2.1 m for the back and seat;
  • plywood for countertop.

Preparing parts for the chair

To make a chair, you will need the following parts:

  • 4 children legs - workpiece length 390 mm;
  • 3 children transverse bar - 300 mm long;
  • 4 children rounded elements;
  • 1 children tabletop 200x340 mm (can be changed to your taste);
  • 2 pcs. - upper crossbar size 220 mm;
  • 2 pcs. - bottom crossbar size 340 mm.

Important! In order for your do-it-yourself baby highchair to turn out beautiful and even, the dimensions of the parts must exactly match the drawing.

Making parts for the table

It will require:

  • 4 legs 500 mm long;
  • 4 cross rails size 340 mm;
  • 4 plates 410 mm long;
  • plywood for countertops with dimensions of 380x450 mm.

Important! You may not buy everything necessary materials, you can choose under right size using items that are unnecessary in your household.

Now we have already reached the main stage - the assembly of the entire structure. Be attentive and accurate in your work, do everything perfectly, because you are trying for your child, which means that you must ensure him, first of all, safety and convenience.

Wood preparation:

  1. During production, the wood beam is sawn into certain dimensions. After cutting the parts into sizes, you need to remove all irregularities, roughness, scratches with sandpaper.
  2. The detail of the rounded element of the side frame for the high chair must be rounded off with carpentry machine or an electric jigsaw.

Important! It is necessary to make roundings of the sidewall according to the drawing of the children's high chair.

  1. It was necessary to fasten with the help of dowels (can be purchased in the furniture fittings department). In extreme cases, the use of self-tapping screws is allowed.

Mounting process:

  1. At the attachment points on the board or bar, we cut or drill holes with a depth of 30-40 mm using a drill.

Important! Carefully make holes without drilling through the parts of the chair.

  1. We connect and insert dowels.

Sidewall assembly

Your chair will have two sides to keep your little one from falling. To do this, you will need for each sidewall:

  • 2 roundings;
  • 2 legs;
  • 2 straps top and bottom.

We collect the sidewall separately each. For this you need:

  1. Connect the legs and the lower crossbar.
  2. Fasten the rounding to the top crossbar.
  3. Glue these two pieces together.

Important! Before connecting two bars, the hole and dowel must be lubricated with furniture glue or PVA.

The same collection process will take place for the second part of the sidewall. All elements must be left to dry for a day. After - go over the sandpaper on this part of the chair to finally remove all the bumps.

Important! Make sure that all the corners between the bars are straight and the side parts are symmetrical.

seat manufacturing

Let's start the process:

  • Cut out 6 rectangles 300x250 mm from chipboard.
  • Round off 2 corners along the long side.
  • Sand all edges with sandpaper.
  • Glue 2 plates put under the press.
  • Fix the finished parts with a strip of metal bent along or screw with screws.

Seat assembly

We proceed to the assembly of the chair, for this you need:

  • Connect the sidewalls with transverse strips using dowels, as described above.
  • Fasten the planks to support the back and the plywood countertop using the same method.

Important! In order to make it more convenient to fold the structure, it is required to outline the installation locations for the dowels, drill holes and bait the bars without glue. Carefully review, remove all flaws. Then you can use glue for the final joining of the elements.

Table making

Myself technological process very similar to assembling a chair.

Table assembly technology:

  1. Attach the top and bottom strips to the legs.
  2. With transverse bars 340 mm long, fasten the side parts of the table.
  3. We grind the sides with fine-grained sandpaper.
  4. Tabletop fastening - it is necessary to fasten from the end of the structure.

seat manufacturing

This stage is optional, but for the comfort of your child, do not spare the material and the time spent. For this you will need:

  • foam rubber with a thickness of not more than 2 cm;
  • dense furniture fabric or colorful oilcloth;
  • construction stapler.

Let's start the process, for which you will need:

  1. Cut the foam along the contour of the seat and back.
  2. Glue to chipboard with PVA.
  3. Cut out the patterns of the back and seat, making 4-5 cm allowances for the hem on the seat, and on the back it will take so much to fit two sides.
  4. Place upholstery on the seat.
  5. Fasten on four sides with staples on the reverse side.
  6. Shoot around the circumference of the seat, while adjusting the uniform tension of the fabric.

Important! Using the same techniques, you need to fit the back of the seat with the difference that here you will also fit the wrong side, while wrapping the fabric diagonally with an envelope.

Mobile high chair

You can take this version of the chair with you to the country or to visit. We offer you a portable (mobile) version of the high chair, which you can sew at home with basic sewing skills.

The family in which the little one appeared will soon think about where to seat the child during feeding. A good alternative to expensive branded high chairs is homemade. The most suitable raw material for it is wood (aspen, oak, etc.). Such a product will not harm the baby due to natural origin, will be stable, reliable.

So for making a chair you must have:
- boards made of oak or other wood;
- wooden slats 0 and 20;
- fixing dowels 5 and 8 mm;
- PVA glue or another suitable for wood;
- self-tapping screws;
- varnish - open the surface;
- tools - saw, planer, hammer;
- sandpaper.

Oak boards need to be sawn circular or band saw. Align and shape with a planer. We make markings and cut blanks. We attach dowels. Then everything must be connected with glue. The rear legs are shorter, the front legs are longer (the armrests will rest on them). Additional fasteners are glued under the connected planks - for greater strength. So, the "skeleton" of the chair is ready:

The next step is to assemble a seat from several short slats. Then, at a slight angle, a backrest support is attached to the rear legs. It consists of two planks, the same as for the legs of the chair, only short. The back support is mounted on the rear legs with the help of dowels. A wide short bar is inserted between them. When the backrest is ready, armrests are added between its supports and the front legs.

The assembled highchair at the joints for other reliability, the author strengthened with self-tapping screws. We well skin the bumps and burrs with sandpaper. We cover the product with varnish, transparent or colored. It will take two or three layers. Let dry - ready! Now the baby can eat at the common table “like an adult” and be proud of skilled parents!
