Beginning specialists want to immediately make themselves known to the whole world. But for this to become possible, you first need to get a worthy project. Of course, professionals whose names are known to many find work themselves. But for the rest, be it a university graduate or an experienced but unnamed servant of their field, in order to get the coveted vacancy, it is imperative to draw up a competent director’s resume.

Responsibilities of the director

A director is a person who organizes, controls and manages all creative and technical processes in the fields of cinema, theater and television. This profession requires not only creative vision, but also responsibility, since it is the director who will be responsible to investors in the event of a failure of a film, program or theatrical production.

What qualities should a candidate have:

  1. Organizational skills. This activity is multitasking. For the success of the project, it is necessary not only to establish work with the actors, but also to calculate the budget, draw up an estimate and control the flow of cash resources.
  2. Communication skills. Thanks to this quality, it is possible to obtain funding from sponsors for a film production. It is important to have the ability to convince others of the success of your idea.
  3. Creative look. Undoubtedly, the author must have talent for his plan to be adequately realized. Moreover, a personal idea of beauty, on the one hand, must be unique, and on the other, satisfy the needs of the audience, so that in the end the creation will pay off and make a profit.

Thus, the director’s responsibilities include the following tasks:

  • choosing a script and adapting it to your worldview;
  • communication with investors, producers;
  • selecting actors and working with them;
  • choice of scenery, music, light;
  • determining the tempo and rhythm of the production;
  • budget summary;
  • control over technical processes, for example, installation.

Depending on the functions performed, directing is divided into stage director, director, assistant, sound engineer, editing director and theater director.

Do you have experience in leadership positions?

YesNo

Only with one glance at a resume can they determine whether this person is suitable for them or not, therefore, in order to ensure that the candidate is not left behind in the early stages, in addition to standard recommendations for writing an effective resume, it is necessary to pay attention to the following nuances:

  • Popular titles. Studying at leading universities, attending prestigious directing schools or trainings of generally recognized professionals - all this will play into the candidate’s hands. The name of the place of study, previous job, or internship will become a filter for the employer to determine the competitiveness and qualifications of a potential employee. These facts of your biography can even be highlighted in a different font, the main thing is not to overdo it.
  • Phrases “markers”. In addition to titles, your resume should include keywords. They may coincide with the previous point, but it is still better to place a separate emphasis on them. So, the role of these phrases can and should be skills - . It is necessary to describe what skills the applicant has and what skills he acquired at his previous job. This should not be mentioned in a nutshell, but each point should be as detailed as possible, even though the position for which the specialist is applying already presupposes a set of these qualities and functions. So, for example, you should not limit yourself to the sentence: “I was involved in staging the program “Fun Start”. It should be followed by a description of the specific functions performed, for example: “I was involved in color correction, creative video editing, creating design and computer graphics for the channel” (detail exactly what objects - logos, commercials, etc.).
  • Results and achievements. After detailed description your skills, it is important to show in practice that this is not an empty phrase. The author's works can be proof of professionalism. It is necessary to indicate their subject matter, how and by whom they were evaluated. If the candidate has no experience behind him, but has a video that won at the festival of young directors, then this is exactly what is needed. Thesis“excellent”, merits, certificates and other awards - the more such “cherries” a candidate has in his arsenal, the higher his chances of receiving an invitation to an interview.
  • Position formulation. No one will like it if the resume is compiled according to the “who takes the bait” principle. If in his resume the applicant indicates “sound engineer, production director, editing and theater director,” the HR manager will clearly suspect him of frivolity and indifference to the work. Even if the applicant considers himself capable of performing any tasks, it is better to create a separate resume for each position.
  • Chronology of work experience. It is important that this column works for its author. It is important to write about the place of work from which your creative path began, even if it is not the most prestigious post. The main thing is not just to list all the positions, but to create a logical chain of growth in the profession: from assistant to director, from less to more popular project. This picture will allow the employer to understand how trainable the person is and is able to progress. It is also worth paying attention to periods of unemployment; during the interview, the question about its cause will most likely be raised, and therefore it is necessary to prepare a suitable answer in advance.
  • Don't lose yourself. A resume is not a passport, where all pages and columns are the same. It should become a business card, so you need to approach the drafting of this document creatively (the proposed position is also from the field of art): do not write “dryly” and according to regulations, choose your own style of presenting information. It is worth mentioning your marital status, interests, and hobbies. It is necessary not only to state the facts “I love my dog,” but to make sure that they play in favor of personal, and, if possible, professional qualities, for example: “I spend weekends with my family and dog, I like to shoot and edit videos with funny moments from life, in connection with this I run my own channel on YouTube.” It is assumed that the director has a broad outlook, so including hobbies such as traveling, studying foreign languages, reading books will not be superfluous.
  • Attention to detail. Your resume must include contact information: phone number, email (it’s better if the document is memorable and easy to read). It is also advisable to indicate the time at which the employer can contact the specialist. This will identify the candidate as a collected person who values his own and other people’s time. If the applicant has his own website, it is also necessary to write its URL.
  • Something you can't live without. Of course, any resume must include your full name, date of birth, and gender. You must also indicate the desired wages and work schedule. And, of course, all this must be written correctly. To check, you don’t have to look for a Russian language teacher; this can be done online, through special programs.
