Roller blinds for the balcony window. Roller blinds for the windows of balconies and loggias from the sun with print. How to choose roller blinds for the balcony

Balconies and loggias are additional usable space. You shouldn’t clutter it up or turn it into a warehouse of unnecessary things. Great solution– equip a comfortable rest room here and decorate it accordingly. Choosing the right one roller blinds onto the balcony, you can create an area of beauty and rationally use every centimeter of space. It will work out cozy room for pleasant evenings with a cup of tea, and most importantly, there will be no problems with cleaning it.

Proper window design is half the design work. For a glazed balcony or loggia, curtains are a must. Their choice is determined by the purpose, the characteristics of the premises themselves, and the design of the frames. The following factors should be taken into account:

  • Shape and size of windows. Balcony frames are often non-standard sizes and configurations. They are ordered by individual projects, so there are problems with the design. Ordinary curtains may not be suitable and may even ruin the interior design.

Decorating custom frames with curtains with floral prints

  • Functionality. It is best to choose blinds or roller blinds for the loggia. They do not dangle in the wind if the window is open for ventilation, and do not collect dust. Ordinary curtains can be accidentally caught, torn, or stained. If the curtains fit tightly to the glazing field, there are much fewer risks.
  • Compactness. In cramped, narrow rooms it is unacceptable to use volumetric structures that steal space. No matter how luxurious the curtains and lambrequins look, they will only get in the way.

But flat designs(Roman, Japanese, roller blinds, blinds) will help visually lighten and expand the area.

The perfect setting for an afternoon tea

  • Ease of opening. For open curtains and drapes you need free space, plus the opening process itself provides sufficient space for hand movement. In narrow, long rooms there is no room for maneuver, so structures that rise upward are appropriate here.

Bright roll designs – optimal solution

  • Zoning. Most often, the balcony frame consists of several separate segments. If you cover the entire window with a curtain, it will be inconvenient to use. The best option is separate panels for each segment of the structure.

Piece canvases look no worse than one wide curtain

Draperies and curtains are beautiful, but impractical when it comes to decorating a balcony or loggia. On the other hand, flat designs give the interior a somewhat official look, which not everyone likes. If the loggia is combined with a room and you want to add home comfort, you can decorate the window with roller blinds in combination with light tulle.

Roller blinds - the optimal solution

Roller blinds are perfect for plastic windows on the balcony. Depending on the design, they are attached either separately to each sash, or above the windows and then cover several sections at once. If we compare them with conventional curtains and blinds, we can note several clear advantages:

Cozy lounge on the balcony

  1. Ease of use. The canvas rises exactly as much as necessary. Simply pull the cord. If desired, you can even install a control panel and raise and lower the curtains remotely.
  2. Easy to care for. Unlike curtains, the designs do not have to be removed from the hooks or washed. The canvases are made of dirt-repellent fabric on which dust does not settle. For cleaning use a vacuum cleaner, brushes, and compositions for upholstered furniture.
  3. Versatility. Roller blinds are attached to balcony doors, room windows, and balcony frames. They are appropriate in almost any interior, with the exception of those that provide emphasized “rustic” simplicity or elaborate decor.
  4. Mounting at any height. The structures can be installed so that they do not interfere with the full use of the window sill area for growing flowers or other purposes.
  5. Possibility to choose the type of impregnation. The canvases are impregnated with compounds that can reflect or, conversely, attract the sun's rays. They protect materials from fading and the room from harsh glare.
  6. Extensive design potential. How you can choose roller blinds for your balcony is shown in the photo below. It is worth remembering that they combine well with traditional curtains, drapes, tulle, and decorative elements.

Pay attention! It is impossible to choose textiles yourself, as when buying ordinary curtains. Each company produces fabrics only from a certain set of specialized technical fabrics. The choice is available only from the offered assortment of different manufacturing companies.

There are no ideal designs, so you need to think about what to choose. So, roller blinds are mounted on sliding windows on the balcony, plastic profiles. But for the old ones wooden frames They are unlikely to be suitable for narrow opening doors or windows.

Another nuance: low-quality structures do not twist and unwind well, but plastic parts break. Therefore, it is important to choose a reliable brand.

Selection of design depending on the type of window

There are two popular designs of roller blinds – standard and mini. Both have their advantages and limitations in application. Select the correct system depending on the type of windows on which the roller blinds will be installed.

Option 1: mini-cassette roller blinds

Mini-cassettes are convenient for mounting on a window sash. Such roller blinds are mounted on plastic balcony windows, as shown in the photo below. Designs of this type are universal, functional and easy to use, but they are not suitable for sliding balcony frames.

Mini-structures on window sashes

The panel of the mini-structure fits tightly to the glazing field. To him bottom part not dangling, the curtain is pulled using a special string. It is made of thin, durable fishing line and is not noticeable. Roller blinds are opened and closed using a plastic chain.

Mini-cassette roller blinds on a balcony block

This structure is mounted on the brackets that come with the kit, and the installation process is described in detail in the manufacturer’s instructions.

Option 2: standard system

This is the optimal solution for balconies and loggias with sliding frames. Also, the standard system is well suited for the deaf plastic windows. But for rotary and tilt-and-turn devices, it is better to choose a mini-cassette. Standard roller blinds interfere with the normal opening and closing of the shutters, because their width is greater than the width of the profile, and this reduces the opening angle of the window.

Standart structures are installed either in the ceiling or on the wall of the window opening. Self-tapping screws are used as fastening elements. The roll with the fabric panel is held by a special clamp, and a weight is provided on the bottom bar so that the curtain does not move when lowered.

Standard system designs

The only negative standard method fastening roller blinds, proposed by most manufacturers, requires drilling holes. You can do without this; below is a section with video instructions for different types installation

Open and closed structures

Closed, or cassette, curtains are those in which the roll of fabric is protected by a special box. The edges of the canvas are under plastic guides, so light from the street does not leak from under them.

In closed structures of the uni 1 type, the guides are attached to the glazing bead using an adhesive composition, and the canvas moves between them and the glazing field. In uni 2 models, the fabric moves between the edges of the fixing bar.

Closed design

In open-type systems, the roll of fabric is not covered by a box. There is a weight attached to the bottom. The fit of the curtain to the sash is ensured by a string stretched between the top holder and the weight bar. Thanks to this, the window can be opened in ventilation mode without fear that the roller blind will dangle or come off due to a draft.

Criteria for selecting fabric density for roller blinds

Manufacturers use special impregnations that prevent fading, overheating, and deformation of fabrics. These are hypoallergenic compounds with water- and dirt-repellent properties that do not emit harmful substances into the atmosphere.

To make roller blinds, materials of various densities are used, and impregnations act as additional light-protective filters, thanks to which the desired degree of darkening of the room is selected.

Decorative translucent materials

These roller blinds are suitable for a window with a balcony facing north. They transmit light and are similar in function to tulle. They can be used either separately or in combination with thick curtains (if the room is well lit).

Translucent fabrics on the balcony block

Translucent materials look impressive, do not interfere with observing what is happening on the street and transmit light perfectly. However, they do not hide the room in the same way if the light is on in the evening. If the frames of the loggia or balcony are covered with thick fabric, this is an excellent option for the window and door of the room.

Dimout - option for balconies on the south side

If the balcony or loggia faces east or south, you need to darken the windows. Otherwise, during the day the room will be constantly flooded with blinding light, and in the summer it will be impossible to stay in it due to the intense heat.

Dimout roller blinds on the loggia

Thick dimout fabrics are the ideal choice. The materials only partially transmit light (10%) and block thermal radiation. This allows you to create comfortable lighting during the day and avoid stuffiness.

Blackout - maximum darkening of the room

The fabrics from which roller blinds with maximum blackout are made are impregnated with a high acrylic content. The composition is opaque and completely blocks sunlight. Designs of this type are good if the room should be completely dark. They are used for balconies and loggias adjacent to home theaters, offices, libraries, and children's rooms.

Blackout curtains on balcony frame

When selecting fabric, it is worth considering the level of illumination in the room. You need to focus on your own needs and wishes regarding darkening. It should be remembered that the temperature on the loggia or balcony will depend on the type of curtains. So, translucent fabrics will help increase it, and dense fabrics will help reduce it.

At correct selection materials, you can achieve the effect of a warm floor on a south-facing loggia. If you lay down a dark flooring, and cover the windows with translucent fabric, the floor will absorb thermal radiation and release it into the surrounding air, thereby heating it.

Sometimes the style of a balcony or loggia requires the use of dark or bright saturated colors, but the degree of illumination is too high. In this case, designers recommend choosing dark or rich tones. To prevent the room from overheating, you should order roller blinds made of material with a reflective surface.

Difficulties often arise with the design of balconies on the ground floor: they are almost completely visible from the street. Day-night designs are appropriate here. With their help, it will be easy to control the lighting and shield the room from prying eyes.

When selecting curtains for a loggia, you should focus on their combination with the design of the windows in the room. Both rooms look like a single whole, so the shapes and colors should be in harmony. For example, curtains and tulle are appropriate in the room, and the balcony windows should be covered with roller blinds of similar shades and similar textures.

Solid designs in neutral tones are a win-win option. They fit perfectly with bright interior details. The main thing is not to overdo it with white, beige, gray, cream and black colors, so that the room does not become faceless or too gloomy.

Each person has his own ideas about aesthetics and comfort, so there can be no uniform recommendations for choosing roller blinds. Still, it’s worth paying attention to how a balcony or loggia is most often decorated. For plastic tilt-and-turn windows, closed-type mini-structures are usually chosen, and for sliding windows, standard systems are chosen. Otherwise, it is better to focus on personal preferences.

When choosing curtains for a balcony, it is impossible to focus only on appearance: taking into account the characteristics of the space being decorated, you also need to think about ergonomic issues. The small area and the need for free opening of the shutters dictate their requirements for balcony curtains. Firstly, they should not visually burden the situation and hide the space. Secondly, you should be able to easily open the doors without getting tangled in the curtains or making unnecessary movements. Roller blinds - ideal option!

What design possibilities does choosing this type of window decoration provide? It turns out that there are many options for designing balcony shutters using fabric roller shutters, and among them there are not only laconic solutions, but also very sophisticated ones. Confirmation is in this selection of photographs with examples of roller blinds on loggias and balconies.

Practical aesthetics

Roller blinds are a sheet of fabric or a material that replaces it, wound on a shaft. They are also called fabric roller blinds or roller blinds. When rising and falling, they slide along the sash, retain their shape, remaining even and smooth. More convenient are models that fit tightly to the window due to special latches. Budget options hang freely, but do not flutter - they are pulled down by a weighting plastic bar.

If you are hanging fabric roller shutters on the balcony, attach them directly to the shutters. This is the point of using this type of curtains on loggias and balconies! You can easily open or open the door without moving the curtains.

Adjusting the position of the roller blinds is easy: just pull the chain or cord. So you can choose required level lighting on a balcony or loggia. And the owners of the systems " Smart home» connect electric drives to roller blinds and use remote control.

Laconic, but not boring

Roller blinds are addressed to fans of austere beauty. The use of fabric when creating this window frame makes the atmosphere on the loggia more comfortable than when installing aluminum or plastic blinds. At the same time, the laconic design of fabric roller shutters allows you to maintain a sense of space even on small balconies.

The fabric itself can be dense, translucent, or translucent. Visually light options are perfect for small balconies and loggias. It makes sense to decorate a balcony on the south side with thick roller blinds to protect against sun rays and heat. But it is better to decorate a loggia facing north with translucent fabric roller shutters.

The same principle is used when choosing a color: the less sun and the more smaller area, the lighter the curtains on the balcony should be. However, there is always room for exceptions in design!

When choosing roller blinds for a balcony or loggia, pay attention to the “Day - Night” models. They allow you to adjust the luminous flux without changing the position of the roller blinds.

Bamboo roller blinds are practical and environmentally friendly. They are chosen by fans of environmentally friendly and simply non-standard, original solutions.

If you want to add elegance to the decor of your loggia, pay attention to transparent roller blinds with lace-like patterns. They are both functional and elegant.

It is possible that you will be interested in roller blinds with photo printing. For a balcony, it is better to choose translucent ones, since the colors will already be bright.

It should be noted that the times when roller blinds were associated with laconicism, rigor and “office” look have already passed. Now you have many colorful and even luxurious options at your disposal!

To avoid prying eyes and excessive light intensity, it becomes necessary to install blinds on the balcony. Adjustable curtains are easy to install yourself, but before that you need to understand the design and features of useful devices.

For their main purpose, blinds on the balcony regulate the light flux to the extent that is convenient for the home owner. Swivel slats perform this function better than traditional sliding curtains. In the dark, blinds cover the illuminated balcony from the views of curious neighbors on the floor or from the neighboring area.

When choosing blinds for a balcony, lovers home comfort, first of all, pay attention to the material of the curtains. This is reasonable, since the closed curtains of vertical models completely cover the glazed wall of the loggia, becoming the central detail of the interior.

When choosing a model, practical considerations must also be taken into account. For balconies located on the south side of the building, curtains are chosen from materials with minimal light transmission (aluminum, wood, dense fabrics). In summer, on such a balcony or loggia, half-open blackout curtains open windows will bring shade and coolness.

Video tips for choosing blinds:

Vertical blinds for the northern loggia can completely shade the room, so it is better to choose translucent materials. For lovers of floriculture who have equipped a loggia with a wide window sill, it is better to choose a horizontal or roll design, the narrow slats of which will not touch flower pots and plants.

For different designs there are installation restrictions. Vertical and roller blinds are installed on separate glazing sashes. They cannot be installed on sliding windows. When choosing blinds, you need to give preference to vertical models. Their cornice is easy to install on minimum distance from the window frame, while the fabric of the rotating slats will not interfere with the movement of the sliding sashes.

Attention: if you have installed, forget about vertical and roll structures. The manufacturer prohibits the installation of hanging devices on aluminum window frames.

For bamboo, jute, wooden models you need to choose Japanese, Chinese or exotic style loggia design (ethnic, country). In standard interiors, such materials look unnatural.

How to properly attach blinds

To install blinds on a balcony with your own hands, a DIYer will need a smaller set of tools than when installing glazing or plastic balcony blocks. To install the cornice, you need to have in your home “arsenal” or buy:

  • marking tools (pencils, ruler, tape measure);
  • several screwdrivers and hardware;
  • drill and set of drills;
  • mounting gun for driving in dowels (when installing a cornice on concrete ceiling loggias).

Taking measurements

Measurements are taken before purchasing a specific device model. Having chosen a horizontal device, measure the width and height of the top binding window frame. Accuracy to the millimeter is necessary, since the protruding cornice will prevent the window from opening. The width of the selected horizontal cornice or roll-up frame depends on the height of the double-glazed window.

When measuring the width, take into account the location of the window handle, which should not interfere with the movement of the slats.

When measuring for vertical blinds, precision accuracy is not needed, but you need to take into account that the length of the cornice should be 8 - 10 centimeters wider than the window opening. Otherwise you won't have room for side placement assembled package slats.

Installation of cornice with drilling

Drilling installation is used for all structures. Using screws, self-tapping screws, dowels, the cornice is attached to the window frame (for horizontal, roller blinds) or on the ceiling, walls of the loggia (for vertical structures). Installation of roller blinds on a loggia is complicated by the dimensions and weight of the box, for which the glazing must be equipped with a massive frame.

When installing the device, perform the following operations:

  1. Mark the places for fastening the cornice.

  2. Drill holes in the window frame, the walls of the loggia, and the ceiling of the balcony. For concrete walls use drills with pobedite surfacing.
  3. Screw the brackets. For installation of curtain rods vertical blinds It is rational to use construction dowels, which are driven in with a special gun.
  4. We attach the cornice.
  5. On the lower part of the frame, under the glazing beads, mark the exit points of the fishing line threaded through the slats of the blinds, and drill the same neat holes.
  6. Remove the plugs from the ends of the planks.
  7. We remove another round plug, under which there is a unit.
  8. Remove the bottom bar by untying the two knots.
  9. We remove excess plates from below if the blinds are too long.
  10. We attach it to a plastic hook swivel mechanism(transparent stick).
  11. Insert the bottom bar and cut off the protruding threads.
  12. We insert all the pulled out plugs.
  13. Take a plastic retainer.
  14. We make markings, drill holes, and fasten the fastener with a screw.
  15. We fasten the clamp on the other side.
  16. We insert the bottom bar into the clamps.
  17. The ends of the fishing line are inserted into the plugs, and the plugs are inserted into the holes in the frame, resulting in tension in the fishing line.
  18. We check the functionality.

Installation without drilling

Without drilling, only light horizontal blinds are mounted on glazing sashes. Fastening with magnets is only nominally a gentle method, since the magnets are secured with screws. On the casements of plastic windows, the cornice can be hung using hanging brackets made of the same material. The cutout in the upper part of the bracket must exactly match the edge of the sash in size and shape.

It’s nice to go out onto the balcony in the morning and take a breath fresh air, check the weather and gain strength for a new day or spend the evening with a cup of tea. The design of your balcony will directly affect your mood. In this article we will look at how to cover balcony windows.
