Radiant solar gems have always fascinated and fascinated people. That is why jewelry, souvenirs and accessories made from natural gemstones are so in demand. And one of the most popular works are paintings - colorful, detailed and elaborate images of any subject. This article will tell you about how magnificent paintings are made from amber.

history of the company

TM "Yantar Polesya" was founded back in 2000. In our activities, from the very beginning, we were guided by the principles of reliability, conscientiousness, partnership and attention to detail. The company takes into account the individual requirements of customers, fulfilling them in as soon as possible. This is what allowed us to gain a reputation as an authoritative, steadily developing and innovating enterprise that is worthy of your trust.

Our team consists of only experienced specialists who act skillfully, carefully and creatively, using all their knowledge and experience. They were the first to come up with and implement the technology of pouring high-quality semi-precious panels - there were no such products before. And the production is constantly being improved - the craftsmen use more and more artistic techniques, methods for processing precious stones and ways of fixing them. Thanks to this, the range of products is constantly expanding, which means that you can buy paintings from amber in the most different styles and genres will not be difficult.

Competent consultants will help you navigate the choice. They will tell you everything about reproductions of paintings by G. Klimt, I. Repin, V. van Gogh, I. Shishkin, R. Santi and many other works. After that, all that remains is to place an order, indicating the desired terms of payment and delivery - and in just a few days you will admire the luxurious picture!

Materials for panels - unusual, high quality, varied

Selected raw amber of different fractions and shades

The most important part of the work is selected natural raw amber. The work uses elements of several fractions - from small stone chips to rather large cabochons, whose sizes vary depending on the size of the future panel. Such a relief mosaic of solar gems gives the picture a voluminous and realistic look. Our company uses only natural hardened resin, without any impurities - thanks to this, the drawing looks bright and noticeable, but not too catchy.

To create one panel, you need at least 12 shades of amber- from pale cream, honey, beige and light yellow to rich ocher, cognac, terracotta, scarlet, cherry, chocolate, brown and black tones. Sometimes the drawing is decorated with rare olive, emerald, azure, purple gems. To obtain a spectacular and harmonious image, all colors must smoothly flow into each other.

How do masters achieve such richness of the palette? Solar gems are naturally characterized by a wide range of colors. However, if necessary, cabochons are placed in a special oven and heated to a predetermined temperature. This procedure, known as incandescence, gives the amber the required tone and reveals its texture in all its glory.

The basis of the panel is a solid sheet of fiberboard (a material made of small chips connected with a safe binder), to which a prepared sketch is glued. It is easy to fix gems of any size on such a substrate, because it does not deform under their weight. This makes the pieces durable and shock resistant.

And the picture is completed by a frame of natural wood- as a rule, it is alder or oak, varnished or stained. Previously, the company had only traditional baguettes in its arsenal, but over time, the craftsmen began to produce unique design products that play with the theme of the image. So, simple planks - smooth or with a carved pattern - ideally complement a still life and landscape, a panel with a fantastic plot looks good in the author's frame, and icons or portraits should be enclosed in an exquisite icon case or an elegant baguette.

How are amber paintings created?

How does such a process take place? Here are its main steps:

  • choosing a topic and developing an outline. At this stage, the color scheme of the image, its scale and composition are determined. Such modeling helps to prevent errors and oversights that may occur when performing a picture;
  • referring to the sketch prepared by the designer, the master cuts a piece of fiberboard right size and glue a colored drawing to it leaving no gaps or air bubbles. If necessary, the substrate is supplemented with relief elements imitating branches, walls of buildings, flower petals and other important details of the work;
  • the background and the largest elements are poured out of small stone chips of the corresponding shade. It is applied very carefully, trying to completely cover the original image. In addition, each layer of crushed gems is carefully glued so that they subsequently adhere securely to the base;
  • the panels are dried in an oven heated to 250 ° C for several hours;
  • whole pieces of solidified resin are attached to the product, supplementing them with scatterings of amber crumbs. This stage requires truly jewelry precision - you need not only fix the cabochons, but also make sure that they match the pattern in tone and texture;

The work of the master with a brush and amber stones
  • after all the precious stones have taken their place, the panels are dried and varnished twice. It reveals the subtlest shades of shimmering gems, protects the work from the influence environment, moisture and dust, and also prevents photoaging (a phenomenon when natural amber changes color, reacting to prolonged contact with oxygen and sunlight);
  • at the last stage finished work put into the frame chosen by the client, and then sewn up reverse side hard fabric - natural burlap. Fittings are attached to it - loops for hanging.

The rough and voluminous surface of a gemstone painting is the main sign of quality work. But a smooth and uniform image is a signal that it was made from substandard amber dust. In addition, the gems should not crumble when touched or shaken, and the rest of the parts (substrate, frame, fittings) must be fastened tightly and without gaps. Only then the panel will serve you for many years!

A couple of months ago, I managed to visit the most amber region of Russia, and the world, according to Wikipedia. You probably guessed that this is the Kaliningrad region, where amber deposits make up at least 90% of the world's. I didn’t manage to see the prey itself, but I managed to capture how amber is processed in a small workshop, at the same time I learned a few facts that you probably didn’t know for sure.

Today in a special report on how cloudy petrified resin is turned into jewelry.

It is also believed that Russian word"amber" is borrowed from Lithuanian, since Lithuanian tribes usually lived near the amber shores, and Russians - very rarely. In other countries, amber is called differently, in Sicily "simetite", in Romania - "rumenit", Myanmar - "birmit".

In ancient Greek, "amber" sounds like "electron". Also in ancient greece natural scientists conducted experiments - pieces of amber were rubbed with wool, after which they began to attract small objects to themselves. In ancient times, you could buy a slave for a small piece of amber jewelry (oh, there were times), and later in the Middle Ages, this mineral was endowed with miraculous properties - it allegedly cured many diseases.

Now connoisseurs distinguish about two hundred and eighty varieties of amber, from "sea" to "earth".

While I'm telling you about amber, the manager of the amber processing shop opens a large iron chest with treasures.

But what do we see here? Several bags and a bowl of pebbles are not presentable.

This is not at all like the amber that I imagined. However, let's not rush to conclusions. This is real amber. He comes to the workshop in various fractions. From such "rubble", which costs 600r. per kg.

To such pebbles, which are much more expensive, because they can be used to make larger, more interesting products.

And such pieces of amber cost up to 20 thousand rubles. per kg. Not small such cobblestones. By the way, pieces of amber weighing more than 1 kg are equated to precious stones and are not subject to free sale, such a decree was issued by the government in the late 90s. Like this.

In this room, where raw materials and processed amber are stored, weighing and packaging of the mineral is carried out under the vigilant gaze of the guard.

The work is boring and monotonous.

Amber is distributed according to color, size and other parameters.

Who's to say that you can make jewelry out of this? However, they do.

The manager opens the closet with finished products. Although I was supposed to show you the result of processing at the end of the report, I have to do it now.

Processed "rubble" looks like a lollipop.

But this semi-finished product was made by pressing amber, from which something sensible could not be obtained, but it cannot be thrown away either. Not a single particle of this precious resin will be wasted.

Fragments and crumbs of amber are poured into these molds, which are placed in a special press. It melts them under pressure and temperature.

The result is a plate with balls. They are then separated and processed. Of course, they cost several times less than real amber.

Then they are still waiting for grinding and polishing, but they will not sparkle like balls from below. By the way, check your grandmother's amber jewelry at your place, who knows, maybe an unscrupulous seller sold you a "press" instead of real amber.

And these are real, polished amber balls.

You can look at them endlessly, they are a miracle how good. I would like one of these in childhood, in my treasury of useless figovins.

Smaller balls. Holes will be drilled into them later and bracelets, necklaces and other jewelry will be made.

Pendants will be made from larger pieces. There are no colors of amber here. I picked up a larger piece, the weight is little felt, the mineral seems light.

Caught among the raw materials and such unique specimens with insects inside, which are called inclusions. Inclusions are particles of flora and fauna caught in ancient resin and frozen for millions of years. The most common inclusions are particles of arthropods and plants; vertebrates and mammals are very rare. Amber with inclusions makes up about 10% of all mined amber.
With a strong desire and huge money, you can take such an inclusion and build yourself a small Jurassic park).

And now we will finally find out how balls are made from amber. For this, cubes are cut from raw materials.

which are hand-cut on grinding machines to such a state.

After that, the balls are again processed on a machine with special grinding wheels.

The ball spins, pours water and becomes more round than before.

Unfinished balls.

And ready.

After processing, amber goes to tumbling. A very interesting process. Here, in a vibrotumbling drum with abrasive fillers, it is subjected to the processing necessary to ensure a marketable appearance.

Simply put, balls and other pieces of amber different sizes rub with abrasive in water detergent for some time, I don't remember exactly how long.

There are two such drums, the function of both is the same - to vibrate and rotate.

After grinding in a tumbling drum, balls and pieces of amber are sorted out and checked.

Then they are additionally processed if necessary and holes are made in amber.

Amber dust hangs in the workshop itself, it is probably difficult to breathe with it for a long time without a respirator, but some workers were without it, they probably got used to it.

And by the way, this is the same press in which not conditioned amber is melted.

And finally finished goods from amber.

For these beads in the old days you could buy a couple of young slaves).

And amber of an unusual black color.

That's all, thanks for reading to the end!

Look at the photo below - isn't it beautiful decorations? But these are DIY crafts made from epoxy resin!

If you have an hour of another time, then you can easily do it, it can be an amber brooch, pendant or bracelet made of homemade amber, while homemade amber is appearance completely different from natural.

To make homemade amber, you will need the following materials: epoxy resin with a hardener (you can buy it at hardware stores or construction markets, it is better to take an imported one, the domestic one is of poor quality and does not completely harden), you will also need organic glass for making a mold (thickness 1.5-2 mm), glycerin, fine sandpaper and GOI paste for polishing the product.

First you need to make a form. To do this, heat up a metal object suitable form and extrude a mold in Plexiglas. For pendants, a metal spoon is perfect as a starting item.

When our plexiglass mold hardens, we grease the mold from the inside with glycerin. This is necessary so that the epoxy does not stick to the mold itself.

Now we are preparing our artificial amber, for this we thoroughly mix the resin with a hardener (9: 1 by volume, there are already marks on the containers, large on the resin, small on the hardener - pour one mark into an unnecessary container, this will just be desired proportion) and pour the finished epoxy into our mold.

Then we drip a couple or three drops of a drop of water into it and lightly stir it with a thin daddy in a circular motion, this gives the same visual effect of amber, this pattern is unique for each stone, so we don’t try to repeat the movements, but experiment!

Can do more rare view amber - "amber with an insect", for this we pour a little resin on the bottom of the mold and let it harden slightly, then we put an insect, a blade of grass or any other decorating element. And fill with the remnants of epoxy to the brim.
In this case, we do not add water to our home-made amber.

You can play with callers - add 1-2 drops of colors to get different shades.

Now it remains to give epoxy resin harden, this happens within 24 hours.

Precautions: Epoxy resin fumes are harmful to health, so you need to work with it in a ventilated area, such as a balcony. To prevent the resin from sticking to your hands, use thin rubber gloves.

After the resin has completely hardened, we take out our homemade amber jewelry from the mold, clean it with fine sandpaper and polish it with GOI paste.

For polishing, you can use a cloth on which we apply a layer of paste or a small but powerful (160 watt) Chinese dremel for 450 rubles - you can buy it through paypal

Irina Pavlova

This summer, on my long-awaited vacation, I visited a wonderful place in our vast country - the Kaliningrad region. In five days I visited several beautiful cities: Svetlogorsk, Zelenogradsk, Baltiysk, Amber, the village of Rybachy on the Curonian Spit and Kaliningrad. I was very impressed by the architecture and nature of this region. An unforgettable impression left from meetings with nature: the sea and the most beautiful birds - swans.

About what is amber, scientists argued for a very long time. different peoples, for which the stone was known, myths, legends and theories were composed in an attempt to explain its origin. Tears of birds, tears of Heliad, Phaeton's sisters, tears of the sun, the sea - what poetic names did not give amber. Of course, everyone has long known that this is resin (resin, which wept coniferous trees millions of years ago. During this time, the resin petrified, but, nevertheless, remained warm, as if absorbing sunlight.

Amber- one of the first gems, which was touched by a human hand more than seven thousand years ago. He has absorbed more than 200 colors. AT amber the palette is dominated by shades of golden yellow, honey, brownish colors. There are samples of red, white, greenish-blue, black. The smallest air bubbles caught in the resin make it cloudy, and water droplets - "draw" milk stains. All this creates bizarre patterns on the processed surface of the stone, which, together with the unique color scheme, have attracted the attention of people since prehistoric times.

It is very valuable amber, which contains inclusion: insects, small animals, moss, plant pollen, pieces of bark, mineral formations, sand, pyrite, calcite, etc. All of them were captured during the release of the resin, which made it possible for them to survive to this day. Such specimens, in addition to jewelry and collection value, are scientific material of the greatest importance, giving an idea of life and its development in distant geological times.

We learned all this from the guide during an excursion to the existing mining and processing enterprises. amber in the village of Yantarny.

We visited a quarry where up to 300 tons are mined amber annually.

Of course I tried to find amber by hand.

Sit and breathe amber in an amber pyramid.

In the museum amber tried on beads and a diadem from amber.

But the most important and interesting thing for me was to take part in master- manufacturing classes jewelry from this sun stone.

The stone that stores solar heat has a row benefits: softness, lack of cleavage, viscosity, soft polishing, making it possible to process it with improvised means.

The first master-class - collection of a bracelet from not polished amber (not polished amber is considered healing) .

For us lovers prepared small pieces amber and wire for the bracelet.

Our task was to choose ambers and string them on the wire.

This is how we worked.

Here is the result.

Second master-class - making a pendant.

In Svetlogorsk during a tour of Amber Hall we visited a workshop for making jewelry from amber, where everyone was given the opportunity to make their own decoration. I wished.

Here in this form amber enter the workshop.

Sorted by size, color, shape, etc.

I also decided to try my hand at jewelry making.

I chose the piece that I liked. amber.

Then I learned to grind with abrasive wheels.

When all the irregularities of the stone are smoothed out and the form conceived by me is ready, amber being polished.

I left a non-polished part on one side of the pendant, so that it would be clear that it is real amber.

The lace is threaded - decoration is ready!

Amber we have a fairly affordable stone in Russia. You can use it on your own decorating crafts, paintings, panels. In addition, the pieces amber are used to make soaps, creams and other cosmetics, as well as in medicine.

Of course, I bought for myself a small ornamental amber and I hope to use it in our joint productive activities with the guys in the group during the year.

Amber is one of the most unusual natural stones, possessing interesting history origin and medicinal properties. Despite the beauty and warm color of amber stones, jewelry work with them is considered difficult, because due to the fragility of the raw material, it can be easily crushed or spoiled. Given all these nuances, ready-made jewelry and products are expensive, so many fans of the mineral create crafts from amber on their own, resorting to simple methods and improvised materials. At home, you can create beautiful pendant, a necklace or even a whole picture of amber crumbs, if you have patience and natural raw materials.

Exquisite pendants, solar necklaces and beautiful decorative elements are just a small list of what can be made from amber at home. The only thing that is required for this is pieces of natural stone. However, the search for natural high-quality raw materials most often causes difficulties for people seeking to create some unusual little thing.

If it is not possible to stock up on a real stone, do not be upset. You can make an imitation of amber yourself by purchasing the following materials for this:

  • polyester resin;
  • hardener;
  • soft molds;
  • pure water room temperature.

Preparation method:

  1. Combine in a container 90% resin and 10% hardener, mix thoroughly with a wooden stick.
  2. If desired, you can add a few drops of water to the resulting mixture to form a pattern and bubbles inside the stone, dye or chips for greater beauty. This will give the finished simulation realism.
  3. A thick resinous mass is poured into molds, pre-lubricated vegetable oil. Leave exactly 24 hours to harden.
  4. A day later, the resulting "amber stones" are carefully removed from the molds, wiped from oil residues and polished with sandpaper.

This method is good for preparing material used for small decorations and paintings from amber chips.

If you plan to use a large piece of amber as a decor item or as a large stone for a pendant, you can build an imitation with a frozen insect inside. This method is more time consuming and requires the purchase of the following materials:

  • pieces of plywood;
  • composition for the preparation of polyester resin;
  • dye of the desired shade;
  • MDF block;
  • protective gloves;
  • composition for the preparation of silicone;
  • scotch;
  • a dried insect, such as a butterfly or a mosquito;
  • food film;
  • sandpaper;
  • sharpened tools for shaping the stone.

Sequencing:

  1. First, a form is prepared for the future stone. Take a block of MDF of the right size. A box is constructed from pieces of plywood, the walls of which are firmly fixed with adhesive tape. MDF is placed inside the box, gluing for reliability. To prevent silicone from sticking to the tree, the block is wrapped with cling film.
  2. After that, silicone is prepared in accordance with the instructions and the resulting mixture is poured into the box. The product is left for 24 hours until completely dry.
  3. Using a measuring cup, measure the volume of the mold to calculate the correct amount of polyester resin. The resin is prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions, the dye is added.
  4. The resulting resin mass is divided into two equal parts. The first part is carefully poured into the mold to prevent the formation of bubbles inside the stone.
  5. The resin is left alone for an hour to thicken, then a pre-dried insect is sent into it. The second part of the resin mass is poured into the mold from above and the workpiece is left to dry completely.
  6. The hard and dried blank is removed from the box and shaped with sharp tools, then sanded with sandpaper. Having finished with grinding, the finished stone is polished.

When using homemade amber stones, it should be remembered that they do not have healing and magical properties, and can also cause allergic reaction prolonged contact with sensitive skin.

Creativity lessons for beginners

Admiring the beautiful amber products and jewelry displayed in the windows of jewelry stores, many people do not even suspect that such beauty can be made independently at home. To create amazing brooches, beads and even roses, you will need artificial or real amber, some materials at hand and, of course, the desire to create.

lucky necklace

necklace - stylish decoration in the form of a hoop or chain, which emphasizes the length of the neck and focuses on the chest. Homemade Accessory from real or artificial amber will give confidence to any girl, will be a great gift for loved one. For the manufacture of amber jewelry, you will need the following materials:

  • pieces of raw amber of various shapes with holes inside;
  • pins;
  • memory wire;
  • flexible silicone cable, hollow inside;
  • extension chain;
  • clasp;
  • decorative metal beads;
  • rings.

Manufacturing process:

  1. Each piece of amber is strung on a pin, the free edge of the pin is clamped with a tool and a small loop is made. Bite off the free edge of the pin with wire cutters so that in the end there is a pebble with a loop at the top. Do the same with each piece.
  2. All prepared amber beads are strung on the wire, threading the wire through the loops. The result should be a dense tourniquet of amber.
  3. The ends of the amber cord are fixed by stringing a large metal bead on each edge.
  4. A flexible cable is cut into two parts, each of which is equal to the length of the free edge of the wire. The tubes are put on the ends of the wire.
  5. One small bead is strung along the edges of the necklace, the extra edge of the wire is bitten off and wrapped, forming a circle. A lock is attached to the first edge, a chain to the second. The amber necklace is ready.

Stone beads

Beads made of amber are in no way inferior to other jewelry in beauty, but their production takes less time and effort. To create amber beads you will need:

  • pieces of real or artificial amber;
  • strong thread;
  • carbine;
  • double ring.

Manufacturing process:

  1. Beads should be strung on a double thread, tightly fitting them to each other.
  2. A ring is attached to one end of the thread with a knot, to the second - a lock.
  3. Homemade amber beads are ready.

You can diversify plain beads by adding large beads of different shades or decorative beads, alternating them with amber ones. In addition, you can take raw amber - the stone looks original and has healing properties.

Weaving jewelry from stones

There are many ways to make amber jewelry at home, but weaving on a thread is considered the simplest and most affordable. To work, you only need a strong hemp rope and amber pebbles with holes inside. How to weave an original product from amber with your own hands:

  • One bead is strung on a rope and a tie knot is tied. A smaller bead is put on one of the ends and two knots are tightened under it. It is important that the knots fit snugly against the beads, as if fixing them in one place.
  • The next pebble is strung on both ends of the rope and again tightened with a knot. All amber beads are treated in a similar way, alternating them in size and color. At the end, a fastener is attached to the edges of the thread.

weave original decoration at home, you can not only from amber, but also from any other natural stones, combining them with different materials, for example, with leather beads, beads or miniature pendants.

How to make a picture of amber with your own hands

Amber is an amazing stone from which not only jewelry is created, but also charming interior items: caskets, figurines and paintings. If in the process of making jewelry a few pieces of amber remained unclaimed, you should not throw them away. You can build a wonderful picture using amber crumbs. This will require patience, accuracy and the following materials:

  • PVA glue;
  • tempera paints;
  • crumb of amber;
  • base - canvas, fiberboard or a cut of a tree trunk.

How to create a picture of amber with your own hands:

  1. Based on a thin pencil, you should make an approximate sketch of the picture, drawing small parts. It is advisable to choose the landscape where warm shades amber will be appropriate: autumn forest, sunset, deer image. In the absence of self-confidence, you can buy a finished painting and supplement it with amber.
  2. Then they begin to draw the picture itself, applying paint to the surface. When finished, let the work dry.
  3. After the paints have dried, they start laying out the amber. Having outlined individual sections, glue is applied to them, and then amber crumbs. You can’t smear the whole picture with glue and pour stones on top - the work will turn out to be sloppy. First lay out large pieces, and then small ones.
  4. Having finished with the calculation, you should carefully examine the picture for gaps and defects and correct them. If the work is done on a cut of a tree, additional varnishing at the end and sanding before painting the picture will be required.

How to cut a rose

Amber is a mysterious and amazing mineral that has a special warmth and bewitching magic. Having touched this stone once, you want to touch it again and again, so amber crafts are especially popular. Craftsmen and craftsmen carve real works of art from the solar mineral, among which amber roses stand out.

Amber is fragile, so the creation of an amber figurine is a complex and painstaking work.

However, even beginners can cut a neat and beautiful rosebud. To create stone Flower you will need the following materials:

  • a large piece of amber;
  • abrasive wheel;
  • felt circle-lens;
  • various nozzles for the engraver;
  • manual engraver;
  • sandpaper;
  • polishing paste.

Amber carving

To carve from an ordinary piece of amber stone rose, requires accuracy, perseverance and a little inspiration. Armed with tools and mentally drawing a beautiful carved flower in your brain, you should proceed to action:

  1. For the manufacture will require a large raw amber stone. It can be of any shape, since in the future it should be cut.
  2. On an amber stone they outline even circle so that you can cut a rounded piece out of it.
  3. Using tools, remove excess parts and cutting disc give the stone a roundness.
  4. If small pieces of amber remain after work, they should not be thrown away - they will be useful for creating beads or paintings with amber chips.
  5. On a rounded shape, an even circle is drawn, which is divided into 4 identical parts.
  6. Then 4 segments are drawn outside the circle, drawing a curved line from the center to the tip of the lines forming a cross.
  7. With the help of a tool, four deep cuts are made in the amber stone - the future edges of the petals.
  8. Using the tool, continue to work on the petals - cut one groove above the petal and two below. After that, a circle and four lines arranged in a fan are drawn on the surface of the amber stone.
  9. According to the borders, cut out the remaining four petals from above. Each of them should start with a small depression, gradually increasing towards the center.
  10. Having finished with the second row of petals, you should proceed to the third, acting in the same way.
  11. Ready amber rose ground and polished with a manual engraver.

Cheap replica or amber: how to determine

Real amber is not only insanely beautiful, but also has healing properties, which affects its value. Jewelry and crafts made from natural minerals are expensive, which has led to the manufacture of stone imitations. Sometimes unscrupulous sellers shamelessly use this, trying to sell the buyer a cheap fake at high price.

In order not to become the owner of artificial amber, you should know the characteristics and basic properties of a real stone, by which it can be distinguished from a fake one:

  • Hardness. If you scratch amber with your fingernail, then small particles will separate from it. Imitation of such an action will not cause harm.
  • electrostatic charge. If you vigorously rub a real mineral on wool or silk, then small pieces of paper will be attracted to the stone.
  • Under influence ultraviolet rays amber exhibits luminescence properties. A fake stone does not have such a feature.
  • Smell. If natural amber is heated, then a pleasant coniferous aroma will come from it. The imitation has no smell.
  • reaction to alcohol. The surface of amber, moistened with alcohol, becomes sticky and rough. Fake stone is resistant to medical alcohols.

Jewelry and products made of amber have many fans due to the warmth that the stone radiates, as well as the external beauty and healing abilities. Given the high cost jewelry, some people prefer to make their own jewelry with a solar mineral, creating original creations. When working with stone, it is necessary to remember that amber is fragile and requires careful handling and accuracy.
