Who doesn't look for easy ways

The ideal material for a pencil holder is wood. With products made from it, the house becomes warm and cozy, and the material is natural. The weight of such a pencil stand will be significant, which means that any extra pencil will not weigh it down with its weight. Another plus is that a wooden pencil holder is perfect not only for a child’s desk, but will also fit into the interior of dad’s office. The material is universal, suitable for everyone. To decorate the work, you can cut out or burn a design on it yourself and open it with varnish.

Well, now about the cons. More precisely, about the most important of them - the complexity of manufacturing. Not every beginner will be able to cut a pencil holder from a piece of wood or properly process a piece of driftwood. For these purposes, you will need certain skills and special equipment.

But let's not get upset ahead of time. You can choose a simpler idea. In fact, not everyone should be able to carve wood... Therefore, it is not at all necessary to look for a whole log, it is enough to use materials such as wooden sticks, twigs, and ready-made wooden blanks. Then we will get a wooden product, and a beginner can make it.

Interesting pencil holders are made from plywood. You can even make a whole organizer. We decorate it using burning, painting, decoupage. This material is ideal for beginners.

What's at our fingertips

From scrap materials you can make work of any complexity, in any style and for any purpose. First, let's look at an example of a bottle pencil holder. We take a bottle of anything - milk, juice, shampoo. It is important that it is easy to cut with scissors to give it the desired shape.

Of course, ordinary plastic water bottles were not left out. The disadvantages of this material are a light weight bases and sharp cut edges. The first problem can be solved through decorations. And the second - either trim the edges with some material, or use an iron. To do this, take a hot iron and a workpiece, place a sheet of paper between them and press them together. Due to high temperature the cut will melt a little and become smooth and not sharp at all. Example of a pencil holder from plastic bottle below:

Have you accumulated a lot of old newspapers? So you can make a pencil holder from newspaper tubes. Detailed master class on weaving stands from them in the video:

Without a ready-made form at hand, it’s easy to make it from cardboard. Even a child can handle this job. And you can make any shape - round, square, triangular, etc. This also includes crafts made from a roll toilet paper. Thus waste material will turn into a useful thing.

A beautiful and stylish DIY pencil stand will not only decorate your desk at home, it is a great opportunity to show your originality at work. There are many ways to make a stand for pens and pencils, but it is best to use wood, because... it will show your seriousness. This is an inexpensive, plastic and durable material that can be beautifully decorated. In addition, the work does not require many tools and materials. It is quite possible to make a stand for pens with your own hands and from waste carpentry or scrap materials.

Option with solid base

The easiest way to make a pencil stand with your own hands is to make it from a single piece of wood. For such work, you only need the workpiece itself, a drill, a drill of the appropriate diameter, and sandpaper. Since the product itself is small, it can be sanded by hand.

First you need to draw markings on the side on which the holes for pencils will be located. This can be done with a simple ruler and pencil. It is important to use a pencil, since traces of it can then be easily removed using sandpaper when sanding the product.

It is not necessary to use a wooden cube for the stand; it can be a parallelepiped, a round unprocessed piece of wood cleared of bark; you can even take as a basis a wooden toy or figurine that you want to remake.

Then we simply drill holes, grind the product, removing all irregularities, burrs and other flaws, and then simply arrange the pencils. If desired, you can tint the product and coat it with varnish to give it a more respectable look.

The only requirement is that the workpiece has one flat side so that the pencil stands are stable and do not fall at the most inopportune moment. Otherwise, there are no limits to your imagination.

A handmade wooden pencil holder is not only a useful item, but also an interesting one. decorative element design. We will tell you how and what to make it from in this article.

When making a stand for writing instruments, it is advisable not to use hazel or birch, since such material is quite hard and fragile, but to give preference to cherry, rowan, cedar and linden.

Separate recesses for each pencil are effective when searching since the pencils do not mix

Required tools and materials

To make a pencil holder yourself, you need:

  • chisel;
  • drill with 8 mm drill bit;
  • sandpaper;
  • varnish for coating the product.
It's easy to make a pencil holder from a wooden cube from a pallet, you just need to cut out a recess and decorate it

To decorate the product, you can use wood paints, decoupage napkins, canvas threads or other decorations.

Step-by-step instruction

The first thing to do is find suitable material. It could be a cube wooden pallet or a large tree branch. Then:

  1. Using a chisel, the product is given a cylindrical or other, for example, square shape.
  2. Sand the surface with sandpaper.
  3. The required number of holes is drilled in the upper part. In this case, it is advisable not to make holes through, since pencil leads and paste from pens will stain the surface of the table. Or you can use a Forstner drill to make one recess, then the shape of the product will resemble a glass.

Cut a cylinder from a large branch, process it with a chisel and sandpaper, drill it and design it to suit every taste - a finished pencil holder
  • To make decoupage - apply a primer to the wood, dry it, glue a napkin with the image you like with PVA glue, and then varnish the product.
  • Paint the pencil holder in a bright color - this option is especially popular with children.
  • Lubricate the surface of the pencil holder with glue and wrap it tightly with canvas threads, attach a small bow on top.

A wooden “glass” wrapped in canvas thread is pleasant to the touch and can serve as an antidepressant.

A self-made pencil holder will not only decorate your interior, but will also allow you to keep your writing utensils in order. And the special beauty of such a stand is that it is very simple to make, the main thing is to have the desire and time to carry out the work.

Stands for stationery save space in the display case, conveniently position the goods and allow you to navigate a wide range of products. Stands for pens can be single or group, vertical, horizontal or inclined. As a rule, single stands are used for expensive pens to emphasize their value; for pens produced in mass quantities, group stands are used to reflect their differences, for example, to show the color scheme.

II. Historical reference

The history of the emergence of a stand for writing instruments should be considered in parallel with the emergence of the writing instruments themselves. The history of the pencil begins in the 11th century. Artists then drew mainly with sticks made from a mixture of lead and zinc, sometimes called “silver pencils.” Graphite pencils have been known since the 16th century. Buyers, mostly artists, squeezed these graphite sticks between pieces of wood or twigs, wrapped them in paper or tied them with string. The first document mentioning a wooden pencil dates back to 1683. In Germany, the production of graphite pencils began in Nuremberg. The modern pencil was invented in 1794 by the French scientist and inventor Nicolas Jacques Conte. Modern leads use polymers, which make it possible to achieve the desired combination of strength and elasticity, making it possible to produce very thin leads for mechanical pencils (up to 0.3 mm).

The usual hexagonal shape of the pencil body was proposed at the end of the 11th century. Count Lothar von Fabercastle, noticing that round pencils often rolled off old surfaces. 2/3 of the material that makes up a simple pencil goes to waste when it is sharpened. This prompted the American Alonso Cros, a pioneer of modern writing instruments, to create a metal pencil in 1869, where the rod is held by metal clamps (collets) - a collet pencil. This humble beginning influenced the development of a whole group of products that are used everywhere today.

The original item, a pencil holder, is an example of office interior items from the first half of the 19th century.

III. Prototype analysis

Option #1

This pencil holder is made from a round cut of wood, a very simple option. Unaesthetic product.

Option No. 2

Pencil box decorated with carvings, too difficult option

Option #3

This pencil holder is made of plywood, easy to make, no special equipment is needed.

IV. Stand manufacturing technology

When making a vat set, it is necessary to highlight the following main operations:

a) markings;

b) cutting with a jigsaw;

f) grinding;

g) assembly;

h) painting;

j) drilling;

The stand consists of several parts. To connect them, you need to choose the most affordable and optimal option.

V. Material selection

When choosing a material for making a stand, we will use the following table:

Wood plastic

Bruschi

Comparing various materials, which can be used to make a pencil holder, optimal ratio between the cost of the material, the complexity of processing this material and functionality As a result of operation (strength, weight, durability), plywood turned out to be the most acceptable, it can be easily processed, has fairly high strength characteristics, and can be sanded well.

XII. Calculation of economic costs

1. Plywood - scraps

2. To sand the surfaces of the parts, 2 sheets of sandpaper were used.

Sanding paper small, 1 sheet -17 rubles

4. To glue the parts together, 10 g of PVA glue was used.

PVA glue, 1 tube -14 rubles. Used 50% - 7 rubles.

5. To paint the products, spray paint was used, for which 50 grams were used.

1 can - 120 rubles, cost 50 g - 12 rubles.

6. Total cost of materials:

17+7+12=36 rub.

Costs for depreciation of equipment, lighting and labor costs are not taken into account.

As can be seen from the calculations, the production of a pencil holder does not require large material costs. All technological operations are available. A total of 2 hours were spent on the production of the product.

X III. Environmental assessment of the product

Since ancient times, craftsmen have used natural materials to make products. environmentally friendly raw materials. Features of the structure of deciduous wood is hardness. Birch wood is durable, resistant to decay, It has a beautiful structure and can be sanded well.

To complete the project, you can use the scraps remaining from furniture production, joinery and carpentry work, as well as parts of wood products that have already become unusable.

Based on the above, we can conclude that the product is hygienic and does not cause allergic reactions.

Try cutting out a small helicopter like this. The work is simple. In order to cut the craft you will need:

3 mm plywood, preferably without defects, a wooden ruler (in measurements it is more accurate), copying, hard pencils, thin files for hand jigsaw, skins, needle files, jigsaw wrench, awl or hand drill with drill number 3. When cutting out the craft, take your time, try to cut exactly along the marked line. Always try to cut straight lines straight; if there is a bevel, the work will not be beautiful. Do not forget to monitor your posture and the position of the jigsaw in your hand. You need to always hold the jigsaw straight. After you have cut out all the parts, try to thoroughly clean them, first with “Medium” sandpaper and then with “Fine” sandpaper. If necessary, clean parts using needle files. After you have cleaned all the parts, try to assemble them. When assembling, do not forget about the rule: part number 1 must be attached to another part number 1, part number 2 to 2 parts, part 1a to part 1a, etc. If the parts do not fit into the right places, file them down. If all the parts fit in without any problems, glue them together. You need to glue the parts together using PVA glue. The finishing touch will be to coat the craft with spray paint of any color.
