How to assemble and install a door frame
If you bought doors with a frame, you will need to fasten the vertical strips - racks (jambs) - with a horizontal - lintel. They usually do it on the floor. After spreading paper or cardboard, the planks are laid out on the floor. Connect, checking the accuracy of the match. If necessary, eliminate the shortcomings: process with sandpaper, ensuring the absence of cracks.
If you bought doors with a box, you shouldn’t worry too much about the dimensions, but you still need to check. Just in case, so you don't have to redo it later. Therefore, having folded the details of the door frame on the floor, lay the doors between them. If everything is correct, then a gap of about 3-4 mm should remain around the perimeter of the door leaf. Only under this condition will the doors open and close normally.
There is little to say about the height adjustment. Usually, the side racks of the box are made 12-15 cm longer than the door. This is in case the doors are mounted according to the rules: the racks will rest on the floor logs. But since this method of installation is rare today, the racks are shortened to the desired length.
We assemble the box and adjust it in height
The next step is to assemble the door frame. It is better to do this with self-tapping screws. If the corners of the planks are sawn down at 45 o, we drill holes obliquely for the screws on the side plank, as shown in the photo. Then we apply it to a horizontal bar and twist it with self-tapping screws.
When assembling the door frame, we drill holes for self-tapping screws - so wood or MDF will not crack If the corners of the box are cut at 90 degrees, the work is somewhat easier, but it is still desirable to drill holes. This is definitely necessary if the box is made of MDF: this will guarantee that the material will not collapse.
The upper bar is attached to the side, the edges are aligned. Two holes are made: the upper bar through and through the end of the side bar. It will be clearer if you look at the photo.
By connecting the strips in this way, you get a finished box. The lower bar is practically not used today, because there is nothing below. Check again, in the assembled state, the box is 3-4 mm larger than the door leaf (both wider and longer). You can check.
Often the height of the racks is greater than necessary. Take a tape measure, measure the height of the doorway, subtract 1-2 cm, which will be filled with foam. This will be the height of the box. Measure from each side of the opening separately: Having measured again, set aside this value on the racks of the assembled box, draw a cutting line. Cut off the excess. Half of the installation of the door frame is already done by you, and with your own hands.
Embedding loops
One part of the hinge with a pin is fixed on the door frame post (1), the second - at the end of the door leaf (2) At what height should the hinges be installed? The distance from the edge of the door leaf must be at least 19 cm. For light doors, two hinges are enough - above and below. Three are installed on heavy ones: one more in the middle.
The hinges consist of two detachable parts, one of which has a pin. We put them so that the pin looks up. It is important.
It is more convenient to cut hinges and locks directly on the floor. Therefore, we take the fittings, attach it, mark it out and make notches. First we cut and fix on the rack. Then, having put the doors, we mark the place for the hinge at the end of the door leaf.
It is convenient to work with a milling cutter, if it is not there, we use a chisel. You only need to remove a few millimeters of material, so it won't take long. When folded, the hinges leave a gap of 4 mm between the door leaf and the pillar. Given this and the thickness of your loop, we calculate the depth of the seat.
Having installed the hinges on the rack, we apply the canvas and on its end mark the place where the hinges will be attached. Cut to the same depth as on the rack.
Installing the box
In the doorway, put the racks and lintel assembled with the letter “P”. With the help of a level and / or plumb lines, you set it in a horizontal and vertical plane. Fix the position with wedges and spacers, constantly checking the correct installation. Pay attention to the fact that the racks are parallel, do not fall either to the sides or forward. The comfort of using the doors depends on how smoothly you set everything up.
Having checked everything again, with long self-tapping screws or dowels - depending on the wall material - fix the box canvas in doorway. One mount on the door frame is located at a distance of 25-30 cm from the other.
A hole is drilled in the box itself with a 4 mm drill, no more: the caps of the self-tapping screws are 5-6 mm, and if you do more, they will not hold. This is where the beam mounted in the opening comes in handy (if there is one, of course). Self-tapping screws are easily screwed into the tree and securely hold the box.
If the opening is brick, from building blocks or shell rock, everything is more complicated: dowels are required. And they should fall into the bricks, and not into the seam. And the diameter of the dowels is more than 4 mm, and they still need to be installed somehow.
Proceed as follows: drill with a thin 4 mm drill, trying to leave a mark on the wall. Having drilled everything, the box is dismantled, they check where they got: into a brick or a seam. In order not to get into the seam, look at the area of \u200b\u200bopen masonry, or mark the box in advance (only those that can be erased later). The box is exposed again, ensuring that the holes in the box and the dowels match. Wedged and once again check how correct it is installed. Insert the crepe into the dowels, periodically checking it relative to the vertical and horizontal plane. Do not overtighten - you can either damage the wood or bend the rack.
Now install door leaf. It is simply hung on the hinge pins. After checking the operation of the door, close it. Now the gap between the box and the wall must be filled with mounting foam.
Foaming
First, we fix the doors by placing some kind of dense material between the canvas and the jamb, cardboard, for example. At closed door we install wedges and spacers that will not allow the box to bend.
Then we take a can of mounting foam and fill the gaps between the box and the wall by about one third. No more foam needed. And this amount is more than enough. When it dries, it expands greatly in volume. If there is too much of it, then it can bend the planks of the box. We'll have to dismantle everything and start over. Therefore, 1/3 of the volume of the cracks is enough. After laying the foam, leave everything for about a day.
Then you can remove the spacers, cut sharp knife excess foam and proceed with the installation of the extension (if the doorway is wider than the frame) or the installation of trim.

- Take two future vertical bars of the box. With a blade size of 2000 mm and a finishing flooring at 30 mm, the length of the short side of the beam should be -2000 + 30 + the gap between the canvas and the finishing floor: 10-15 mm = 2040-2045 mm.
- Put a mark on inside Bars of the box according to the required length of the canvas.
- Cut off the excess at an angle. The sawing angle of the timber should be 135° on the inside or -45° on the outside. The length of both vertical Beams of the box must be the same.
- Do the same procedure with a horizontal short beam. The only difference is that you will have to saw off from two sides. Be careful with sizes. The main thing in all carpentry work: Measure seven times, cut once.
When marking, do not forget that the gap between the canvas and the box itself should be 3 mm.

With this assembly option, in the vertical racks of the future box, the so-called box porch is removed by the thickness of the vertical beam. See drawing.

After preparing the box, we proceed to assemble it.
Place the prepared box pieces on the floor. Connect the corner joints of the box with self-tapping screws, two self-tapping screws in each corner. In door frames sawn at 90 °, the screws are screwed in at a right angle (photo above left). In door frames sawn at 45°, the screws are screwed in at an angle of 45° (photo above right). The box is almost complete.
In order to keep the vertical posts parallel and match the distance between them according to the size of the door leaf, place the door leaf on the “almost assembled” frame, as it will stand in the opening. Fix the gap between the canvas and the box by inserting identical pieces of hardboard or wedges into the gap.

Now the box needs to be fixed in this position. You can do this in several ways.

Method 1. Fix the door frame with not thick rails. Nail the slats perpendicular to the uprights, with thin nails at the very edge of the vertical uprights. There should be two rails: in the middle and at the bottom.

Method 2. Strengthen the joints of the box beams of the future box. Add wide and rigid power corners with holes for fastening to the screws. Screw the power corners, strictly checking the perpendicularity of both vertical and horizontal Beams. But I advise adding another fixing rail to the bottom of the box.
The assembly of the door frame is over, remove the canvas from the box. assembled box ready for installation.
