The density of the packing depends on the construction conditions and can be:

    • filling 75 – 85% in the case when the foundation is designed to withstand deformations from soil heaving or earthquakes. This improves shock-absorbing properties and reduces the load on the walls of the structure;
    • completely filled up and compacts well if such loads are not expected;
    • poured with concrete, if you need high rigidity and strength of the base.
  7. The voids between the laid and filled tires are filled with stones, broken bricks, crushed stone, broken glass or similar material. It is not recommended to use sand for these purposes, because... sand is sinking.
  8. The formwork is made a little wider, so so that when concreting the outer edges are also closed, which will not only strengthen the base, but will also prevent the release of harmful substances under the influence of sunlight.
  9. After installing the formwork, the foundation is made of car tires covered with roofing felt, which will avoid unnecessary losses of concrete and improve waterproofing. One layer of such coating is sufficient if the strips are laid with an overlap of at least 5 cm.
  10. Reinforcement produced according to the project. Reinforcing bars of class A – III with a diameter of 10 – 12 mm or reinforcing mesh of the same quality are used. When making a frame, it is not necessary to use welding: you can limit yourself to knitting knots with a special annealed knitting wire. The distance from the concrete structure to the bottom of the reinforcement must be at least 30 mm, which is necessary to create a protective layer.

    The saturation of reinforcement should be uniform, which will make the slab monolithic and ensure its reliable operation in case of subsidence. To secure wall structures and partitions, anchors are attached to the reinforcement frame and brought above the concrete level.

  11. Concreting. During construction, a foundation made from car tires is the most critical process; the synchronous operation of all structural elements depends on its quality. The sequence of work is as follows:

Because of this, problems often arise with the cladding of wall load-bearing surfaces of buildings. Another disadvantage of tires: if they are laid directly on the ground, in extreme heat the rubber will begin to release compounds and substances that are potentially unsafe for humans into the air. It's not difficult to deal with this. It’s enough to do it (lay a layer of inexpensive and reliable roofing material on top of the tires).

Tile base made from tires - durable and easy to make

To independently lay an economical foundation for lightweight buildings, we will need simple devices, materials and tools. We will prepare reinforcing bars, metal channels, tires themselves, building level, roofing felt, brick (whole products and fragments), shovel, wood (boards, panels) for formwork, sand, rakes, gravel. This is quite enough to build a foundation. It can be tiled or columnar. In addition, there is another way to create the structures in question. It involves tying tires with a metal channel.

We begin to build any type of foundation by drawing up its diagram, calculating the required amount of material and cleaning the site on which it will be located. We thoroughly clean the area, uproot trees and bushes, remove stones and debris. Then we level the site. We remove about 25–35 cm of turf. We take a level (you can also use a regular building level) and check the evenness of the surface under the pit. If necessary, we further level the area.

Now we proceed directly to the arrangement of a light house or outbuilding. The scheme is simple:

  1. 1. Dig a pit according to the intended dimensions.
  2. 2. Place a layer of gravel at the bottom of the hole (gravel can be used instead). Let's ram it.
  3. 3. Lay down the tires. We place the tires as densely as possible, in two layers. The less free space left between the rubber products, the better - the base will be truly reliable and durable.
  4. 4. We fill the voids and small gaps between the tires with pieces of bricks and fill them with gravel. After this, the resulting layer must be compacted efficiently. The task is not easy. But we can handle it.
  5. 5. Lay roofing felt on the compacted layer. Some craftsmen cover tires with pieces of old linoleum that is collecting dust somewhere in the garage. You can do it this way. The main thing is that there are no holes in the linoleum.
  6. 6. We install formwork around the tires. We make it from shields, suitable boards, and bars.
  7. 7. We enclose the formwork with metal corners or channels of small height (up to 0.15 m), and install reinforcement into it.

We have everything ready to pour the foundation. We make a concrete mixture from sand, cement and water. We fill the formwork structure with it. We wait 7–8 days for the concrete to harden. We dismantle the formwork. Next, we proceed to install the lower trim of the building under construction.

Column design - if you need high reliability

A concrete slab base is recommended for installing sheds, light frame garages and similar buildings on it. It is better to install more loaded structures on a columnar foundation. The complexity of its arrangement is higher, and it will also take more time. But the constructed structure will withstand more serious loads.

The construction of a columnar base is carried out as follows:

  1. 1. We clean the area using the method already described. Remove the top layer of soil.
  2. 2. We dig out the foundation pit. Using a tamper or roller, we compact the soil and pour fine gravel on top. We compact this layer.
  3. 3. Determine where to install the tires. We drive stakes in the areas where we will install them. We put it on the last tires. The pegs should be strictly in the center of the tires.
  4. 4. We lay a waterproofing material inside the tire and pour crushed stone on it. The material should be applied in layers, compacting each layer well. The height of the crushed stone backfill is 6 cm below the edge of the tires.

The next step is to moisten the compacted layer. Let's just pour water on it. Now feel free to pour concrete into each tire. Remove excess mixture immediately. It is convenient to do this using a wooden board. The columnar base will gain the required strength in about a week.
